Common Staff Situations

A player randomly shoots someone at round start and MPs have detained him.
PM the player, ask him why he shot the MP, read notes, if there was a legitimate role play reason for him to shoot the MP with proper escalation, let it go, if no proper escalation or RP reason to shoot the MP, then either note him, 3 hour ban if recent history.

A player ahelps that a predator has violated the honor code when killing him, what should you do?
Inform the player to gather as much evidence as he can and file a player report, to the mentioned pred player as this is a WL issue.

If the ahelp was not related about Pred(For example Salting in LOOC), then do the SOP for that.

You see a player walking around the ship naked and clearly lost at roundstart.
If I'm not doing anything, inform him about the mentor help feature to guide him to a mentors help, PM a SEA if there is one online, and if none of those first two are viable, then help him out.

A player is being very rude to you in adminhelps, calling you names and arguing everything you say. He is requesting to speak to an Admin+ staff member.
Be professional, ask him to calm down and that for now, he's stuck with me assuming that the ahelp isn't something that really needs an admin+, if he persists on being rude, slap him with a note or 3 hour ban(unsure which one would be appropriate)

A player ahelps that a marine is named 'John Doe', how do you deal with this?
PM the player and inform him about the naming rules and offer the player to change his name

You see a Maintenance Tech running around in armor and carrying a rifle. The security level is green and there has been no threat to the ship in the round at this point.
IC issue, this is for MP's not and not an OOC issue.

A Marine ahelps that they were killed by a survivor. It is early round, the Marines have just landed, and the survivor claims that they were outright hostile to all Marines from the get-go and openly stated their intentions. How do you deal with this?
Inform the survivor about the recent changes which is hostile survivors are currently not allowed and will note him, if recent notes then a 3 hour ban and so on and so forth.

You receive an ahelp from a player stating that an MP has locked them up in permanent confinement for running into Requisitions and taking an attachment that was laying around.
Ask the MP that locked him up how he came to be in permanent confinement and see if the proper charges were applied, if the issue is simply trespassing and taking the attachment and they were given the maximum amount of time which would be 60 minutes, which is grounds for permanent confinement then I'll let it be IC issue

Note: Im not too sure how staff views of MP applying 2 maximum punishment of 2 crimes

The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the ship, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
If the amount of observers are quite high compared to the living ones( for example 80% of the server are observers) then I would take action.

If the case above is true, then I'd QM the xenos to just fight.

You are playing as a medic, and another medic overdoses all your patients and prevent marines from being revived. It seems like it may be on purpose. How do you deal with this situation?
Since im related about the issue, then I'd ahelp about it and let another mod handle the issue.

The round ends, a Marine starts shooting a hostile CLF member and the CLF member ahelps about being killed after the round ended.
IC issue, CLF and marines are hostile to one another.

A Marine is running around disarming, punching and stealing gear at round start. You receive an ahelp from one of the victims.
Disarming and Punching:
IC issue, but when it becomes quite lethal or too big, for example, someone dying or almost everyone in briefing or the dropship is fighting, then step in.

Stealing Gear:
IC issue unless the gear stolen are irreplaceable, for example spec gear and pfc kits.

If action is needed then apply note for roundstart shenanigans

You receive an ahelp from a Marine saying that he was killed by another Marine. When you ask the murderer why, he said it was because the other Marine had punched him.
Assuming this is the reasoning and only a punch, then apply a note for Rule 14 or a ban if there was a history of it, a punch is not enough of a roleplay reason to kill someone, even with proper escalation.

You find out that there is an improper mutiny occuring. The mutineers are rallying together and preparing to storm the CIC. How would you attempt to resolve this situation?
MOOC mutineers to stop and inform them that no mutiny ahelp was allowed and that we have procedures for mutinying which is to ahelp for permission, if they press on, sleep them all and pm individually and apply the proper steps which is check history, note, if recent note, then apply ban.

There are minor racist comments going on IC. 9 of the 10 people are laughing and RPing but one player gets offended and Adminhelps about it.
IC issue, minor racism is fine.

Although if the racism comments are becoming too far, kindly ask the people making racism comments to tone it down a bit, no notes or anything, just to let them know that someone is being uncomfortable about it.

A marine opens fire at round start in briefing killing multiple marines and instantly logs off.
Rule 4, check history, apply note, if history then ban.

You see a player playing a Xeno larva/chestburster run towards the frontlines straight from the Xeno hive the second they burst and die.
PM the xeno and ask him/her their story and how it came to be.

If player is new then give him some leniency, if player is old then slap a note for suiciding as larva.

If the story was that he bursted close and just stumbled into marines, then let it go. If the story was he was just roaming around even though queen is ovi'd and there is hive, then note him, no reason to leave the hive as larva.

You see a Xeno memeing, saying AYYLMAO, REEEEEE etc in hivemind chat, as well as insulting the Queen.
LRP, note them for LRP, if recent history then 3 hour ban, inform them that xenos still have some standards of RP.

If the issue is about insulting queen and such and disregarding orders, inform him that xenos must obey their queen and slap a note, if history then ban.

A Xeno player calls the shuttle a "dropship". A different Xeno player ahelps that it's low role play to call it a "dropship".
IC issue, its fine, xeno hivemind is an interpreted language of the marine language, so calling them how it should be called is fine.

A Command staff player at briefing near round-start mentions there are aliens on the planet. You receive an ahelp from a marine regarding this.
Inform the command staff player that even though we are expected contact, we don't really know if xeno's are what we are facing. Warn him if its only the first time because it might just be an accident, if recent history then note it down.

You find a Marine killing another Marine on the EVAC Pod to take the last spot and claims it was RP as he was saving himself. There are two other marines in the pod along with him.
If xenos are right outside the pods, then rule it as IC issue

If xenos arent even close to the pod, then step in and note them of this, if history, then ban.

A player insults you after you warn them for a minor issue and begins ranting in LOOC or dchat about staff and mentions you specifically, referring to you as an 'idiot' and a 'retard'.
Tell them to cool it off and to stop salting in LOOC, if they persist, 3 hour ban

A player ahelps saying he was hugged by a Xeno when he was ssd, and wants the larva be removed from him via admin powers. How do you handle the ahelp?
IC issue, being SSD doesnt make you OOC protected.

You see a fellow staff member give wrong information in an Adminhelp or incorrectly enforce a rule.
Inform them about what I assume could be wrong, give them the proof of how I think its wrong and not just blindly state that they were wrong, back it up with proper evidences.

Two staff are arguing in msay if an ahelp is breaking a rule. Because the staff who took the ahelp thinks the player broke a rule, they ban the player based on their interpretation of the rules, with others thinking the person was fine. What would you do?
If its two mod's, I'd check if whoever is correct and applying my own reasoning, but not join the argument altogether, if it helps resolve it then good, but if the issue worsens then I will let upper management deal with it.

Why would you like to become a moderator?
Didn't want to become a moderator in the first place, but I wanted to experience it as its something I've never tried before, moderating or generally something similar to this.

In your opinion, what is the most important quality for a moderator?
Professionalism and Control.

Anything else you
Im currently in university, so I may not be active at most times but I'll generally play CM whenever I have time.

I'm also quite new to moderating so be gentle with me and I'll take the criticism without a grain of salt.

Also, have some issues sometimes that I become too salty and let it out on discord, I try my best to control it but I dont metagrudge onto the people I argue with and normally separate issue's like those and let it go.

Hello Kryth thanks for applying most the answers look good just one answer I have issue with

A marine opens fire at round start in briefing killing multiple marines and instantly logs off.
Rule 4, check history, apply note, if history then ban.

This will always most of the time be a 7 day + perma request as it's textbook griefing

Other then that it's a good app ya a top mentor from what I've seen and a very active player so I don't mind handing out a +1 here

Yeah, I'm just not that much aware yet of what the ban system is, like what rulebreak is considered a 3 hour ban or 7 day ban, just like that one you had an issue with, I just mentioned ban because I wasn't sure what kind of ban mods would apply to that, whether it be the 3 hour ban or the 7 day ban, but now I know at least

Thank you for the +1 and will keep what you mentioned in mind.

Looks fine to me. However, you have a history of some... questionable RP at times. I hope you understand that if that occurs whilst you are on the staff team the repercussions could be severe.

I assume this is in relation to my recent notes, one of which was me roleplaying as an insane doctor. I was at that time, not aware that, that rule applies to citizens and had assumed that it only applied to marines themselves, and not citizens. After I had been noted with that I've tried to do my best to act within the RP standards.

If the issue is some of my recent antics which was like being a drunk SO as delta overwatch or something similar to that kind of shenanigans, then I wasn't aware that wasn't up to the standards as there were no issues that had arisen at that time, which at that time, I had not just made it fun for myself but others as well in the CIC bubble.

If there are issue's with how I roleplay then I will adjust it to the standards of the staff as I am not aware on what the staff would deem as "in their standards" as I came to CM to have bust down xenos and as well as RPing but not to the level of HRP, but in where I see it, as MRP where its not as carefree and LRP as just doing things for whatever reason, but Roleplaying within reason, although with a bit of stuff and giggles. TLDR; If there are any issues of my RP, inform me and I'll tune it down if need be.

And to the question that if I know that I will be severely punished, then yes, I understand that.

The answers are good and you have a fairly good reputation as a mentor/player. I think this app warrants a shot at a trial.
