Recon Spec = Snowflake load out?

So is the recon load out the "I don't want to follow orders" Snowflake Load out now? I see so many Recon specs getting killed alone, by themselves, hundreds of meters away from where they should be. Is it just me? Or should the specs be actually doing their job and lending some heavy fire support to the squad, instead of going out and "scouting" miles away from where they should be.
