New to Specialist Guide / Sniper Specialist guide

I figured since I did the ghost academy for scout/ghost specs (twice), I may as well do this one.

So ... you're either new to being a specialist, or new to sniper itself.

Despite people giving the sniper a lot of flak for ... well ... choosing this type/class of specialist, this specialist when used right is damn near INVALUABLE to the front-line.

    Let's get started.

    Equipment and Gear:
    Spoiler Spoiler:

    Playing the game:

First off, you need to know what your role is as a sniper.

The sniper is primarily a front-line, heavy fire support role. How does it support the front-line? Well, the sniper is an insanely hard-hitting damage dealer that is defensive in nature, but can be alternatively opportunistic. You will primarily be sniping T3's and T2 warriors that try to push the front, or punish a lurker for pouncing on a marine with heavy damage.

So ... you've dropped and you go to the front-line ... "where should I be/stand?"

The most important thing you can probably do as a sniper is position and re-position to help the front-line. Using the scope of your rifle, you need clear shots on enemy xenomorphs that can and will push up.

"Ok, I'm in a good position, do i just fire my weapon like any other marine?"

... that's a good start ... but you can do better. You see, snipers can 'go prone' using specialist activation one. After a brief channel, you will go invisible and cannot be moved except VIA grab or other non-shuffle forms of movement like an explosion.

"Ok, I'm prone, now what? Now do I shoot? Does going prone help me at all?"

Getting there. You see, when you go prone, it allows a sniper to do something called an 'aimed shot'. In order to use aimed shot, you select it from the top tab or using specialist activation two. After doing so, make sure you're wielding your sniper rifle.
Now, middle-mouse-button on a xenomorph you can see that is not obstructed by solid objects (marines do not count, as your weapon has built in IFF).
The xenomorph and you will get a "chk chk" sound. This means you are targeting this xenomorph, and they have roughly 1 to 1.5 seconds to get an obstruction between you and them, or be shot for MASSIVE damage.

You see, when you use aimed shot, the type of ammo you shoot is greatly enhanced.

    Here's the ammo as follows:

    Normal: The Bread and Butter
    70 damage (210 aimed)
    50 armor penetration (max penetration)

    Flak: The Minion Killer
54 w/ 54 in an AOE of 5x5 centered on impact (THIS FLAK AOE DOES NOT HAVE IFF, BE WARNED) (108 damage aimed with NO AOE, but inflicts a silence (abilities can't be used) and a slow for 3 seconds)
0 armor penetration (used against soft targets with no armor, mainly T1's and lurkers)

    Incendiary: The Annoyance
Fire stacks = Damage Over Time
61 damage with 10 or 15 fire stacks (wiki unclear) (61 damage aimed with MAXIMUM fire stacks (40))
23 armor penetration (unless it's a queen, crusher or other HEAVILY armored T3, it'll go through. Keep in mind Queens and ravagers are IMMUNE to fire, but will still keep them from regenerating if they are lit on fire)

    The sniper's cycle:

The main things that should be going through your head about every 20-30 seconds as a sniper is:
"Am I vulnerable in this position?"
"Should or can I reposition to help support the front better?"
"Should I fall back, or keep trying to snipe the xenomorph push?"

No one wants to push an area where they KNOW a sniper is watching. So sometimes, it's better to re-position to a different part of the front for a different angle of attack to catch them off-guard, and make the xenomorphs re-orient. You have NO IDEA how much positioning power you have as a sniper specialist.

    Off-hand tips to close:

YOUR RIFLE DOES NOT TREAT PMC'S, UPP, AND OTHER NON-USCM FORCES AS ALLIES FOR IFF. YOU CAN, AND WILL, INSTA-KILL SOMEONE IF YOUR AIMED SHOT GOES ALONG A PATH THAT THEY ARE ON. PRIMARILY DUE TO YOUR 50 ARMOR PENETRATION ON YOUR BREAD AND BUTTER SHOTS.

Normal flak round shots are the BANE of a push and the front-line ... ON BOTH SIDES. If you're firing non-aimed flak, please make sure marines are NOWHERE NEAR where the shot will land.

Even if you use 'Aimed Shot' on a friendly USCM IFF tagged soldier, it will NOT hit them. Good to know if a lurker pounces your fellow marine and you accidentally target him.
Is an Ambidexterous marine and xeno main.
