Suggestion to vent some MP boredom and spare some marines in the process

I had an idea that might prevent MPs from taking their frustration and boredom out on the marines as much: contractable prisoners. In the far future, space is not a luxury, and with so many humans out and about, some with heinous crimes on their record, the USCM department of military justice has sought fit to contract out some of their prisoners to jurisdictions and MP departments willing to watch them, in exchange for moneyary or requisitional assets. This would be implemented by a console in the main brig that requires an MP/CMP/XO/CO ID to turn on, and another ID check to verify, and it would show available prisoners that could be watched and taken care of in exchange for (money, req points, whatever is deemed fitting by devs.)

Said prisoners would typically be volatile, mentally unhinged, violent, or treacherous, and so would require active watching by the military police, as well as housing, feeding, medical attention, etc. The console would ping deadchat (or maybe have special role candidacy pref) and would recruit the prisoner from dead chat, giving them biographical info, what they were in for, and possible side objectives for them to complete on the almayer. This would give the affected player a huge margin for Roleplay with the ship staff, and give the MPs something to do when everything else is calm.

The MP who accepts the contract will be held legally responsible for their wellbeing, as well as share the penalties for any major/capital crimes they commit if the legally responsible MP is found to have been negligent in their duties for caring for the prisoner (obviously if you got shot in the back by a pfc out of the blue and as a result the prisoner escapes, it wasn't neccesarily due to any fault of your own). Ultimately the decision to accept these contracts could be denied and returned by the CO or CMP, and if any of their prisoners were found dead or mistreated, the CMJ would probably send investigators, and perhaps even MPs of their own to arrest the responsible parties.

The prisoner could arrive by one of the ship docks, and be handed off and a waiver signed by the responsible MP during the hand off. If the prisoner happens to be aligned to a certain faction due to their background, and that faction happened to be on the almayer... Anyways, I thought this would be a neat idea, and keep some of the heat off of the marine's backs when the MPs get bored and look for someone to arrest, let me know what you think.

Maybe additionally or instead of the shuttle out of nowhere, could this not be combined with the current survivors? They are the most open to act hostile. MPs would need to question and check on every survivor after a medical screening and watch them not interfering with shipboard activity. They would have the need to keep them well feed etc too. And those possible traitors could on the other hand have a hidden agenda like, stow away this EGG (or the larva) for the corp to get the $$$.

What I also thought about is, maybe one of the Responders could be replaced with a Corporate Ship coming alongside the Almayer without the CO sending out a Distress Beacon and trying to get involved in the operation either by politics (bribery) or by force, cause WY got wind of the blackout of one of their installations and now want to save all their precious assets, including the xeno.
This could also heighten the importance of the Corporate Liaison aboard, cause he could send a FAX to WY to make that move happen in the first place.

Since this will force tension between the two groups, MPs would probably have to fight those Corporates of the ship, while the marines try to keep the ground under control. In the end it should be under Admin control, if this kind of interference is needed, because shipboard crew is bored to death, or if they already got enough action as is.

    Interesting idea.

Overall I like it. I don't believe its needed to prevent MPs from finding people to arrest though because if someone is doing something arrestable then it's up to MP discretion. Some go after everything. Others on nothing except the worst.

As for survivors. Yes. They already should be doing it.
There is an abundance of MP related work with civilians. Namely, processing them. It's simple and isn't detrimental to anyones round, unless of course the civilian tries to blow it off or fight. Even then, processing is optional, but SHOULD be done by any competent MP.

It's simple. I won't both to go into the full details, but the method to process essentially is: Receive civilian. Get fingerprints. Get side and frontal photo. Get details for security file. Get statement (highly optional). Get interview (highly optional). Get the Almayer ID. Release ( if you wish to expedite RP, suggest they meet or go with the CL. )
    -------------------------

MP is an easy, relaxing role for the most part with around 10-30 minutes of frantic, but extremely important work. If you look for law breaks. You'll probably find them or more often... randomly manage to come across them.

Many MPs are shitty at their job.

    Some are good.

Of the good group, then you get weaklings, moderates and extremes.

Weaklings don't prosecute, get bullied and are nice. Usually either shitty or good but new.

Moderates know their job, do it well and are comfortable with arresting but within reason. Usually more experienced. Unlikely to be bullied. Often see minor crimes but may just warn until they know to get involved. Additionally they are likely to be understanding, but not blatantly stupid.

Then hardasses. They know the job and do it well. Usually too well. They are typically the toughest, most robust MPs and also the ones hated the most. Often longtime MPs usually take on elements of this after enough abuse and bad experiences with shitter marines. They are also the MP type most likely to arrest, get beaten or killed, and foster bad relations with marines in a round ( read: they incite mutinies when unable to be oppressive enough, but still annoying).

In this same hardass category is extremes. These fellows are usually moderates or hardasses who show up or just act this way during "toughboy MP rounds" where a CmP or CPT chooses to have Marine Law enforced to its FULLEST, sometimes retard, extent.
    -----------------
MP is not that boring, usually something comes up every 30 minutes. Minor, but something.
