Character Information
Name of the Synth Character you wish to play Mai
What is your Synthetic's Personality? Being based on the daughter of a popular name in the synthetic market, Mai’s personality is best described as ‘disciplined’ and ‘astute.’
She is designed to primarily assist in interpretation of foreign culture and linguistics to make communication between parties smoother. As such, it is not uncommon to find a Mai model interacting with prisoners being held on frontier colonies or POWs belonging to the USCM.
Part of her programming involves her learning what makes a specific individual tick. Sometimes she’ll ask a personal question, other times she’ll make a suggestion that is out of their comfort zone to see how they’ll react.
On the surface, this may seem like a role that any synthetic can fill. However the depth of Mai’s gathered information on who she is talking to allows her to better understand their demeanor and goad a better response.
Why do you want to be a synthetic/why should we whitelist you? I want to play synthetic because of their ability to support the marine side in various different ways. Whether that be reinforcing the FOB, moving to set up power and fortify a comms location, or setting up the map’s medbay so that those who are hugged are able to get surgery groundside. I do this a lot as comtech for synthetic players and doctors looking to have an outpost to work at.
Despite my hours in doctor, I know surgery like the back of my hand and feel like the low count should not speak for my game sense.
Synthetic also opens the door to even more roleplay opportunities which I am heavily interested in when playing the game. Contrary to what some may say, I put RP over everything so long as they aren’t urgent.
What is your most memorable interaction with a synthetic? This is rough because most of my interactions with synths have been memorable. I’d have to give it to a Solaris Ridge round that I had with Reisyn’s synth Juno. Her and my main, J.D., set up an outpost at colony medbay for injured marines. My character would patrol the roads and clear our the sea of backliners, Juno would treat those who are escorted back. In between this, we’d RP and get into conversations about ‘goals’ and how my character should be more careful despite being more than capable of handling himself. Every time I’d come back to the operating room, Juno would spray J.D. with a water bottle to wash off the blood.
Synthetic Character Story Snippet: Both parties are arguing over the most recent operation’s key prize beside her: A man with a bag over his head jerking against the binds securing him to a wooden chair. The man shuffles about, cursing from under the cloth material shrouding his eyes and ears, asking his captors if they know who he is. Mai glances over at him, recalling his appearance and the way he carried himself prior to the joint guerrilla and Colonial Marines force capturing him. He’s a loud man who sits atop a minor throne, exploiting the colonists and their resources with the rest of his band. She understands why both her side and the guerillas want him for themselves.

Experience
How familiar are you with Engineering? APC repairs I know, especially with me setting up tcomms a lot as SL, CT, and even CO/SO. I know how to set up an FOB on all of the current playable maps and their respective LZs. I know how to replace barricades in a way that minimizes risk and in an efficient manner (presetting cades during a heavy siege then moving them into position when one line falls). Deconstructing and reconstructing walls for FOB/Comms reinforcements I know. Setting up power and the SMES is also something I’ve come to know by heart.
How familiar are you with Command? Having the CO whitelist, I can confidently say I have more than enough command experience. In terms of command mechanics, I’ve learned tasks such as setting AA, loading the OB after checking for shell fuel requirements to prevent over/undershooting, a better understanding of SOP, and most importantly marine law.
How familiar are you with Medical? For my experience with how medical works, I know chemistry to the point where I can confidently run the chemline at medbay if doctors are unable to. As stated before, I know surgery like the back of my hand. I know how to treat things like IB and ODs. I know how to handle larva surgery even when there’s a handful of patients hugged. I know to check for organ damage even if I’m not told that a patient has any via the scanner or via what they say.
In the event I’m unable to OD someone on bicardine to fix IB, I know the procedure to check each and every part of the patient’s body barring mouth and eyes to find and treat the IB.
How familiar are you with Requisitions? Having run requisitions as an SO, CO, and XO, I am more than aware of how the system works. I know how to set up the supply console, inform command of the FOB coordinates for specific pads, stamp papers for additional funds to send down on the platform, and I know the vendors and which piece of equipment is in which vendor.
What are some scenarios that you can perform combat in? Give us a brief example. A scenario that comes to mind is in the event that a synthetic is traveling between the front and back and is attacked by a runner, they are able to defend themselves. If I were in this situation, my priority would be to continue moving back to the FOB whilst fending off the threat. If the runner disengages, I’d cease combat and continue on my way, then inform on all channels of the injured runner and where it was last sighted. If the runner falls into a critical state, I’d cease combat and continue on my way then call out its state and location, however I will not finish off the runner myself as rule 6 on the programming and guidelines states that I must ensure it is *disabled.* Not neutralized.
Another scenario is the defense of USCM personnel. A lurker or defender arrives and attempts to capture an SSD marine off on a flank as I am getting ready to move them. If the xeno in question attempts to continue a capture attempt, I am allowed to defend the SSD marine and will do so until the threat is disabled or runs away. In the event other marines take notice and move to assist, I will cease combat and prioritize moving the SSD marine to the APC interior or all the way to the FOB.
