    Character Information

Name of the Synth Character you wish to play
    Mai

    What is your Synthetic's Personality?
Being based on the daughter of a popular name in the synthetic market, Mai’s personality is best described as ‘disciplined’ and ‘astute.’

She is designed to primarily assist in interpretation of foreign culture and linguistics to make communication between parties smoother. As such, it is not uncommon to find a Mai model interacting with prisoners being held on frontier colonies or POWs belonging to the USCM.

Part of her programming involves her learning what makes a specific individual tick. Sometimes she’ll ask a personal question, other times she’ll make a suggestion that is out of their comfort zone to see how they’ll react.

On the surface, this may seem like a role that any synthetic can fill. However the depth of Mai’s gathered information on who she is talking to allows her to better understand their demeanor and goad a better response.

Why do you want to be a synthetic/why should we whitelist you?
I want to play synthetic because of their ability to support the marine side in various different ways. Whether that be reinforcing the FOB, moving to set up power and fortify a comms location, or setting up the map’s medbay so that those who are hugged are able to get surgery groundside. I do this a lot as comtech for synthetic players and doctors looking to have an outpost to work at.

Despite my hours in doctor, I know surgery like the back of my hand and feel like the low count should not speak for my game sense.

Synthetic also opens the door to even more roleplay opportunities which I am heavily interested in when playing the game. Contrary to what some may say, I put RP over everything so long as they aren’t urgent.

What is your most memorable interaction with a synthetic?
This is rough because most of my interactions with synths have been memorable. I’d have to give it to a Solaris Ridge round that I had with Reisyn’s synth Juno. Her and my main, J.D., set up an outpost at colony medbay for injured marines. My character would patrol the roads and clear our the sea of backliners, Juno would treat those who are escorted back. In between this, we’d RP and get into conversations about ‘goals’ and how my character should be more careful despite being more than capable of handling himself. Every time I’d come back to the operating room, Juno would spray J.D. with a water bottle to wash off the blood.

    Synthetic Character Story
Snippet: Both parties are arguing over the most recent operation’s key prize beside her: A man with a bag over his head jerking against the binds securing him to a wooden chair. The man shuffles about, cursing from under the cloth material shrouding his eyes and ears, asking his captors if they know who he is. Mai glances over at him, recalling his appearance and the way he carried himself prior to the joint guerrilla and Colonial Marines force capturing him. He’s a loud man who sits atop a minor throne, exploiting the colonists and their resources with the rest of his band. She understands why both her side and the guerillas want him for themselves.

    Experience

How familiar are you with Engineering?
APC repairs I know, especially with me setting up tcomms a lot as SL, CT, and even CO/SO. I know how to set up an FOB on all of the current playable maps and their respective LZs. I know how to replace barricades in a way that minimizes risk and in an efficient manner (presetting cades during a heavy siege then moving them into position when one line falls). Deconstructing and reconstructing walls for FOB/Comms reinforcements I know. Setting up power and the SMES is also something I’ve come to know by heart.

How familiar are you with Command?
Having the CO whitelist, I can confidently say I have more than enough command experience. In terms of command mechanics, I’ve learned tasks such as setting AA, loading the OB after checking for shell fuel requirements to prevent over/undershooting, a better understanding of SOP, and most importantly marine law.

How familiar are you with Medical?
For my experience with how medical works, I know chemistry to the point where I can confidently run the chemline at medbay if doctors are unable to. As stated before, I know surgery like the back of my hand. I know how to treat things like IB and ODs. I know how to handle larva surgery even when there’s a handful of patients hugged. I know to check for organ damage even if I’m not told that a patient has any via the scanner or via what they say.

In the event I’m unable to OD someone on bicardine to fix IB, I know the procedure to check each and every part of the patient’s body barring mouth and eyes to find and treat the IB.

How familiar are you with Requisitions?
Having run requisitions as an SO, CO, and XO, I am more than aware of how the system works. I know how to set up the supply console, inform command of the FOB coordinates for specific pads, stamp papers for additional funds to send down on the platform, and I know the vendors and which piece of equipment is in which vendor.

What are some scenarios that you can perform combat in? Give us a brief example.
A scenario that comes to mind is in the event that a synthetic is traveling between the front and back and is attacked by a runner, they are able to defend themselves. If I were in this situation, my priority would be to continue moving back to the FOB whilst fending off the threat. If the runner disengages, I’d cease combat and continue on my way, then inform on all channels of the injured runner and where it was last sighted. If the runner falls into a critical state, I’d cease combat and continue on my way then call out its state and location, however I will not finish off the runner myself as rule 6 on the programming and guidelines states that I must ensure it is *disabled.* Not neutralized.

Another scenario is the defense of USCM personnel. A lurker or defender arrives and attempts to capture an SSD marine off on a flank as I am getting ready to move them. If the xeno in question attempts to continue a capture attempt, I am allowed to defend the SSD marine and will do so until the threat is disabled or runs away. In the event other marines take notice and move to assist, I will cease combat and prioritize moving the SSD marine to the APC interior or all the way to the FOB.

    Hello!

Thanks for applying the Synthetic whitelist. Just like Eric, I didn't expect you to be interested in this major support role but I'm glad to see another competent applicant apply. Your story is a major improvement from the previous I read and I have total confidence in your abilities for Command and Requisitions.

However I can't give my total confidence in your medical and engineering expertise, not that I doubt it, but I would like to see these roles played more. Especially Doctor since you've stated before that there's little playtime that was put into the role, I can be fact checked with posted hours in it.

It's a bit tricky to follow all your characters, JD being your most popular with your A.W. close second but your other two are complete unknowns to me personally. I won't give a +1 yet but I'm confident if you put in the time and others that can visually vouch your skills as a medic, doc and engi, it'll change.

My suggestion is, for engineering, JD is your popular character so having them as CO doing FOB construction would get people to notice but otherwise I'll be keeping a lookout on "Naomi" and "Grace". I wish you the best of luck for your app!

I'm not going to bother writing a lot because there's two different applications to vouch for his competence in both roleplay and game knowledge. I've seen him play engineering and medical alike.

    Instant +1

    Hey.

I definitely intend to play doctor as Naomi Fisher to display my knowledge on chemistry and surgery mechanics. You'll also likely see me play comtech as Naomi Fisher as well as corpsman. I appreciate the comment and suggestion.

    Good day Kuusday.

Your application is pretty solid. At first glance I had a slight worry that your Synthetic's personality would be difficult to pull off or shine past the shadows of a regular Synthetic's duty, however after watching your RP and reading your story, I feel confident in your ability to maintain that high bar and really rock that personality! I am a fan of the more subtle, yet unique quirks and I feel yours fits right into that category.

Your backstory and story were well written and serve to enunciate your Synthetic's quirk well. It was also an enjoyable read.

All of your answers were good and showed not only a significant level of competency, but a great understanding in Synthetic guidelines.

I've seen a lot of you and many others have as well. Your support work has been getting a lot of attention lately and it has all been positive feedback!

Not only have you been doing a lot of good command work, but you've also become well recognized by some Synthetics in your support duties. I encourage you to keep it up and you will do well

+1, I would like to see Mai Synthetic onboard the USS Almayer, especially in diplomatic situations!

    Hello again!

After stating I would like to see your skills as a support unit in the variety of roles available, I think you match the criteria what we expect. I don't need to repeat what others said about roleplay, you're a nice dude to speak with.

    +1 from me, good luck!

(Side note I have noticed you as well doing combat while in your support roles, not saying it's a bad thing but Marines have the murder bone, your synthetic shouldn't. Do combat as a last resort while your main objectives being whatever requires the most help!)

    +1.

I have seen you play Corpsman, Engineer and Doctor, and observed entire rounds of all three.

I will now comment on all of what I have observed.

    Corpsman

I have seen a few of your Corpsman rounds, and observed competence in all of them. Generally, you maintain about the same speed as I do as synth/corpsman when reviving people, which is roughly the goal you should aim for - and while you have a different process for it, you still reach the same end goal. I have additionally seen you prioritizing immediate armor removal for burn victims which, while it may simply be lining up with you wishing to defib immediately, is still a good demonstration of knowledge - and you also know when to revive people, and when to go to a different area to do so.

Additionally, you are skilled at triage and knowing WHO to revive and who NOT to revive - which is an important overall part of both Corpsman and Synthetic. This also extends to knowing what treatments are necessary to get somebody up quickly - for instance, what limbs to line and kit first for an instant revival compared to doing the entire body - and what treatments are necessary to get somebody in proper, fighting shape.

    Engineering

For Engineering experience, I have not seen a large amount of FOB design - but, from what I have seen, you understand the tenets of Engineering, which is more important than understanding regurgitated designs. Your telecommunications designs are also quite good form what I have seen, and you do not fall in to the trap of attempting to make an overly complex barricade line that, although overall better, consumes too much material and allows you to be defeated in detail. I have seen you generally either attempt to remove walls or barricade around them, scavenge material by deconstructing window frames or tables/getting somebody to do it for you/guarding people who do so (which is, in my opinion, indicative of understanding why it is done and the importance of it), and actively watching for potential breaches in other peoples designs/for potential breaches of walls from their damage sprites.

I believe you will still learn more about Engineering playing as synthetic, however you have the fundamental and conceptual understanding of the role and how to do it that I feel is important and needed for synthetics - anything extra is simply pushing beyond what is mandatory and from expertise and extensive experience of a role to perfected mastery, which nobody truly has.

    Surgery

Your surgery skills are good. I cannot particularly comment on it as it is mostly just mindlessly clicking, but you do prioritize larva removal over other limbs, and in cases where it is needed, you don't work on one limb at a time and generally use one tool until all steps you require with it are done. I have also seen you diagnose organ damage without the body scanner, and in instances where you haven't, it would have been impossible to do so in a timely manner.

    Overall and Questions

My overall opinions are that you are at the mastery level required as a synthetic. I also feel that, as you are willing to learn new roles and are quite good at it, if I say so - displaying competency in any role quickly is an achievement on this game - I believe that you will learn even more as a synthetic and push that beyond simple expertise towards mastery, as well.

I additionally like the story, as I have discussed with you in DM's - I believe it exhibits their personality well. Sometimes, actions, or inaction, speak louder than anything else - and I believe the subtle cues performed are fine.

I would, however, like to ask you three questions about two specific scenarios - which you may recognize from other applications. These will influence my +1, but I do feel that you are competent enough to understand.

    1. You are on LV-624, currently in the Table Fort area of the map. The entrances to the caves have been barricaded and the frontline is relatively quiet at the moment - with neither side having the initiative. However, roughly four marines are suffering from a variety of issues - the first, recently infected by a facehugger that you visibly saw landing on him roughly 30 seconds ago. He is still presently unconscious and is not being assisted by anybody at present, but is not in any immediate danger from other xenomorphs. A second marine, recently overdosed on 40u of peridaxon, is dead - but, he is presenting with 67 burn, 67 brute, and 66 toxin damage. The third marine, also dead, has 376 burn, alongside a fractured groin and 34 toxin damage.

How would you treat them? You may have any tools that you would reasonably have such as custom chemicals, engineering equipment, portable surgical bed, etc, and anything that may be found on the map.

    2. After you have finished your treatment, another marine comes to you with both legs and feet broken. They are growing increasingly agitated and insulting your synthetic - calling them a tin can and asking you to 'hurry up' consistently, and generally being rude. What would your synthetic say and how would they speak to the marine in this scenario? You may make up dialogue for the marine in this if you wish, but it is not required - a general synopsis of what your synthetic would do or what you think you would say will suffice.

    3. What would you put in an average FOB crate on Solaris Ridge, LZ1, ignoring other external factors and assuming optimal conditions? (good population, engineers exist, etc)

    1. For the hugged Marine, I'd honestly just shake them until they wake up and then inform them that they need to go to the LZ and up to the Almayer as I am currently busy with an overdosed patient and another one who is at nearly 400 burn damage. I COULD have then sit in a stasis bag until I'm done since they've been hugged pretty recently, but I'd rather them be on their way to get it removed ASAP. For the second marine who is overdosed on peri, I'd stick him with a pen of tricord and then dylovene. Both will help with the toxin damage with the tricord also helping a little with the burn and brute. After that I'd give him bicard and kelo for the remaining burn and brute damage respectively. However I'd consider the marine with 400 burn my priority so I'd feed him kelo and dylo, kit his burns, suture the two body parts with the most damage, and then epi into defib. The process would also be quicker for the third one considering I'd have a bottle of KD. After that, I'll tread the third's fracture and then move on.

    2. In this situation, Mai would see that the Marine is agitated but her focus would be on the three marines from the first question as they are dead, overdosed, and fractured themselves. It's important that I stay in character with Mai, so she'd simply tell the agitated Marine that he needs to either wait or find a way back to the FOB for possible FOB surgery or transport to the Almayer. She's not going to waste time and argue or respond further, as that'll just be a distraction taking off the remaining time that the other patients have.

    3. I'm going to assume this is for first drop. An average FOB crate, in my eyes, involves the Mortar and its ammo, materials for engineers regardless of population, flares, MREs, standard ammunition, and specialist ammo if they didn't get theirs from req already.
