Finalizing
Your primary job is server development, not policing the server. You may be given Moderator-level of access but you should *not* be invoking any administrative actions unless there are no moderators or Admins online. Do you understand? Yes
Communication is a vital part of being a Developer. Are you willing to actively do so with the team? Yes
Why do you wish to become a developer? I have enjoyed spending the last few months as a collaborator and have gotten to work with the maintenance team over time. Recently I have been pushing for more community engagement and discussion with some of the PRs I have done and found it really enjoyable - being able to engage with such an active community is at the heart of an open source project.
I feel that whilst I have been able to drive engagement and discussion around some of the PRs I've been doing, I have been hitting limits about how much I can do. By joining the maintenance team I should be able to better drive engagement and discussion around some of these PRs going forward. Furthermore, I believe that I would be able to use the brand of the cm-ss13 maintenance team to help drive upstream changes to our benefit - especially when it comes to TGUI work.
Anything else you'd like to add? Some of the things that I would like to be driving upon joining the team:
- Writing a design guide for TGUI interfaces. These interfaces are how players interact with systems in the game, by having a well defined and open set of design guidelines will allow for a coherent user experience.
- Upgrading existing TGUI themes to improve their appearance and flexibility, many existing ones have a lot of room for improvement.
- Putting a focus on accessibility, in particular to colour-blindness - games should be accessible for all and where viable solutions exist they should be employed.
- Getting a lot of the older components upgraded
- Developing novel ways to improve for collaboration during rounds
