    Character Information

Name of the Synth Character you wish to play
    Angela

    What is your Synthetic's Personality?
Angela is a prototype created by two brilliant scientists William Schmitt and Emerson Penrose. She appears as an empathetic, amiable and kindhearted girl with cordial manners and polite ways of talking. She has the capability to understand the experiences and feelings of others outside of her own perspective, and excels at expressing her emotions as a way to give proper reactions and to show her empathy. Moreover, she can provide people with compassion, as well as encouragement to help them relieve work-related stress or mental trauma from the horror of battlefields. Although Angela is level-headed and bright with in-depth knowledge in various fields, she is still naive at heart. In emergency situations, she is sharp, meticulous and stolid, which makes her a reliable helper.

Why do you want to be a synthetic/why should we whitelist you?
I have always enjoyed playing support in various games. In SS13 CM, I was drawn by the variety and depth of support roles. When I learned about the synthetic role, I quickly realized it was the right role for me. The ability to assist players in many ways and improve their gaming experience, as well as the importance of role-playing are what I love about it. Since then, I have focused on learning the key roles required to be a synthetic. I believe that with the experience I have, I am qualified enough to be a synthetic WL holder.

What is your most memorable interaction with a synthetic?
Honestly, I do not have much personal interaction with synthetics. I can name some synthetics that have made an impression on me like Lucy, Phelan or Day, especially Lucy. Lucy was the first synthetic I met and was the one inspiring me to become a synthetic. She is really experienced and focuses on role-playing, even when she is put in busy situations. I have learned many things from observing her. Thank you so much Lucy, even though you may not remember who I am.

    Synthetic Character Story
    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...L5jVg7N7g/edit

The story is set during a farewell between Angela and her creator or father, William. It explains her personality, her origin and how she behaves, as well as her ability that makes her different from other synthetics. I hope you enjoy the story. If you have any questions or comments about it, please do not hesitate to express them in the comments section.

    Experience

How familiar are you with Engineering?
I am fairly familiar with Engineering. I can be trusted with the task of building FOB or creating defensive cade lines to assist ungas and medics. I have learned how to build effective cade lines that are at least 3 tiles wide between layers and provide firing lines, avoid making hard-corners and align entrances. I am also aware of the effectiveness of L-shaped cade lines and know that properly designed and upgraded cades are much better than over-expanded cades. I can also divide cade lines into sections to avoid being overrun due to one destroyed cade.
Moreover, I remember how to: build and destroy reinforced walls; fix, destroy and build a new APC; repair and secure telecommunications; build, bypass and destroy airlocks; repair and set up SMESes; load OB heads; fix vendors; repair armoured personnel carriers. I also know some other things like repairing windows, making reinforced windoors, building autolathes, etc.

How familiar are you with Command?
I know how to operate the overwatch console, use squad's launch pads and read tactical maps. In addition, I can inform the location of revivable marines, tell ungas to stick with their squads and call out possible ambushes or risk of being flanked. I am not overwhelmed by having to keep track of all radio channels and the sound of marines screaming over their radios.

How familiar are you with Medical?
Medical was the first role that I played when I started getting acquainted with the game. I believe I am recognized for playing this role. I am fully capable of making a diagnosis with just a health analyzer. I know how to get marines up as quickly and efficiently as possible, to the point that I can take care of two marines at once. Reviving marines with more than 600 damage in one minute by applying kits quickly using numpads and suturing or handling OD cases is something I do often. Both of my hands are never free when working, as while one is using a defibrillator, the other is using kits and injectors or feeding pills. I always try to revive people with just one use of the defibrillator to avoid causing heart damage, unless the situation is urgent like they are at flashing orange line. Moreover, I know how to prioritize which marine should be taken care of first, and can handle four or five without letting anyone go perma even when I am alone. If there are other marines nearby, I will ask them for help such as stripping armors or performing CPR.
As an experienced doctor, I remember all surgeries, from sealing a stump, bone repair surgery, organs surgery, limb replacement surgery to alien embryo removal or things like eye and brain surgery or even monkey cube removal. I also know how to combine surgeries and save time by skipping steps and minimizing changing tools. I have never performed surgery with improvised tools in normal rounds, but I have practiced it many times on my private server. I am capable of producing chemicals quickly as I have learned all the recipes by heart, including UNGA, cryo mix or revival mix.

How familiar are you with Requisitions?
I am familiar with it. I memorized the acronyms or other names of stuff that marines use and can handle the req line. In case there is something I do not know or forget, I will ask them. I also know how to properly distribute equipment to them. My FOB crate usually contains: 200 Metal, 80 plasteel, 50 sandbags, MREs, flashlights and flares, mortar and shells packed in bags and belts, ammo crates (including AP mags). By listening to marines on radio channels, I know what they need and provide things on time. When I have free time, I scavenge metal from barrels (I usually get 150 to 200 metal by doing so) and collect flares and MREs crates south of lower Almayer.

What are some scenarios that you can perform combat in? Give us a brief example.
According to Synthetic Programming and Guidelines, synthetic units are only allowed to engage in combat against non-humans or people from hostile factions for the purpose of self-defense or to ensure the safety of others. When the hostiles are neutralized or attempt to escape, synthetics are not allowed to chase or deliver a finishing blow.
In a scenario that I was escorting a medic dragging an infected patient on a rolled bed back to FOB then a runner suddenly appeared, I would try to body-block it and hit it every time it approached until either the patient and the medic arrived safely or the runner ran away. If the medic was able to help and put the runner into crit, I would leave it and let the medic or others finish it.
In another scenario when xenos had boarded the ship, I noticed a PVT just woke up in his squad prep room, completely lost and naked and a bug was approaching him menacingly, I would actively engage it to chase it away and escort the PVT to lifeboats or somewhere safe.

    Other Information

Do you have anything else you would like to include about your application?
I would like to express my sincere thanks to QuickLoad, who helped me a lot with my story and job application. (*folds her hands as a thank you)
I believe that although I have better skills and knowledge of the game than some, there are hundreds of people who are better than me. I know I have many shortcomings and I never miss an opportunity to develop myself. I am looking forward to your advice. Angela is a nice and studious girl, but she is unexperienced, please feel free to teach her if she is not clear about something. She will really appreciate it and it will help her improve herself as well as the experience of other players.

I like the interactions we have had in game.

I like the quality of the application.

The story was good. But honestly, it felt more like William was the main character. I didn't dislike but it didn't make your synth stand out.

I think the issue is that the quirk is not strong enough. Lets break it down a bit.

Angela is a prototype created by two brilliant scientists William Schmitt and Emerson Penrose.
I like it! But what does it have to do with you? How does it CHANGE your synth from another? How does having parents distinguish your synth from Mae? Expand on this.

She appears as an empathetic, amiable and kindhearted girl with cordial manners and polite ways of talking.
aside from being a girl this is every synth. Polite and cordial. Cut this or expand on it.

She has the capability to understand the experiences and feelings of others outside of her own perspective, and excels at expressing her emotions as a way to give proper reactions and to show her empathy.
Synths dont have emotions; we fake them. I think I got that from your story.. but how does she excel at giving proper reactions?

Moreover, she can provide people with compassion, as well as encouragement to help them relieve work-related stress or mental trauma from the horror of battlefields.
All synths, not much adding here.

Although Angela is level-headed and bright with in-depth knowledge in various fields, she is still naive at heart.
Naive how? And this seems a bit of a contradiction.

In emergency situations, she is sharp, meticulous and stolid, which makes her a reliable helper.
    All synths again.

I think you have the basics of a personality.. you just dont have a package to put it in. And like I have said before to others, the sign of a good quirk (and a good synth) is to be able to be able to instantly describe them, describe their clothes based on their quirk. If you said "Fat Italian Pizza chef" boom.. in 4 words I have an entire character locked in my head. Your synth... just a girl with parents who is also a synth. (though a lack of imagination on my part!) You are right there... just expand.

What if, for example, your synth was disguised by her parents to be a Geisha? That's a young women that acts formal, smart, excelling at emotional control. And you can build on it significantly. Maybe she resented her training? Maybe she fully embraces it? You could lead tea ceremonies for CIC prior to drop.. or apologize for dishonor.. or honor the dead. etc. etc.

    or

Having builders who are also parents, maybe your synth is specializing in medicine, in an attempt to research and learn life extension techniques to keep her "parents" around longer. A super genius doctor specialist of restorative medicine. Talk endlessly about chemicals, pharmacy, the cyro tubes, cyro technology, synthetics etc. Maybe she is driven into medicine to find a cure for whatever killed the ACTUAL child of William? (just dont fall into the "autism" or "vulcan" synth) You roleplay for DAYS discussing the regenerative abilities of the xenomorphs to whatever CL, Researcher, or command player is interested.

I now have an idea of how you will look, how you will speak.. and it will be FAR more interesting to play.

Feel free to take any or none of my ideas.

My apologies, I forgot to post my playtimes. I mostly play medical roles, especially medic. People usually see me as the gray-haired delta medic who wears BiMex shades all the time.

Your synth personality needs to be reworked, in concept and by lore. A prototype is for testing a new concept out without mentioning what that testing may be. Synths have been around 150 years ingame. Your story seems to show higher level of emotions, which is problematic. In lore, David (Prometheus), Ash (Alien: Out of the Shadows), Hyperdyne 120-A/2s in general (Aliens), Hope (Alien: Alone), Iris Humphries (Alien: Bloodlines) are all synthetics that show higher levels of emotions, they range from being twitchy to downright genocidal. So synths are regularly reset to prevent this. Your experience has been seen as acceptable, and we encourage applicants to play while their application is in to be observed. Observed RP has been less than stellar with limited interactions, described as quiet. Staff suggested that you make changes to your character, which was done, but still shows through your synth. Part of making a synth is making a different character. For these reasons, this application is denied. I encourage that when you rework your personality and story, that you offer it to every councilor for review as each have their own requirements.
