Make a list of links to all of your ban appeals as well as whitelist and staff applications (both accepted and denied) submitted within the past year. For appeals, provide an additional ban reason and the appeal’s verdict next to the link.
    I have none.

Have you been banned in the last 3 months?
    No.

    Experience

How familiar are you with command positions?
I consider myself well versed and knowledgeable about the duties and usual round progression of all command roles, from either observing competent players, playing as said role, or playing as the subordinate of the role e.g (CT->RO).
I have playtimes in all command positions except CMP, as I don’t find playing MP particularly enjoyable. I feel I have an adequate grasp of ML from the MP, XO, and general number of hours I have played as the marines and reading ML to still be a fine addition to the CO WL.

Approximately how many hours do you have as Executive Officer (XO) at the time of writing this application?
    155.7

Approximately how many hours do you have as Squad Leader at the time of writing this application?
    66.7

    Basic Questions & Story

Why did your character decide to become the CO of a ship?
Hunter is and has been a career officer of the USCM since acquiring his degree and joining OCS, and he feels the next natural step in his career is to become a CO based on his experiences in the Neroid and especially serving as an Executive Officer aboard other patrol vessels similar to the Almayer.
Hunter also enjoys the lifestyle, and has failed personally to start a family or to maintain his relationships outside of the corps, which in turn refocuses his priority on his career in the corps and other related interests.
The pay raise associated with promotion also greatly motivates him.

How did your character attain the position of CO?
Stanford was promoted recently in the wake of more prominent CLF attacks in the Neroid and the relevant weakness of the USCM presence in the Neroid being brought to the attention of various higher ups.
Stanford was a natural pick to fill any incoming gaps of officers needed in securing the Neroid from the CLF and further UPP influence.

Provide a short story of your Commanding Officer.
    Scenarios

When do you believe it’s appropriate to pardon a prisoner? Give an example.
I’ve read Marine Law and the Commanding Officer Code of Conduct. I won’t copypaste what it says here. Obviously and firstly, it’s only appropriate to pardon a prisoner if I am allowed to do so.

Moving on from that, when considering doing a pardon one of the first things I would consider is whether or not they will commit another crime after my pardon, as obviously, me ending up in jail isn’t going to benefit the operation over whatever the pardon may accomplish.

I feel it's important for me to say I would only consider their actions in round. You can be the most famous/infamous player in CM.
If I haven’t seen your character's actions in round enough for me to surely say you won’t commit another crime, I won’t pardon.

Doctor accidently blowup the chemline at the start of the shift? They can serve their sentence and learn to be more careful next time.

A doctor who has diligently served and done their job throughout the course of the round that accidentally blows up the chemline and gets imprisoned while medical is overflowing? Pardon.

I know not all situations, even where time sensitive or what can look best for the operation are worthy of a pardon though.
For example, I wouldn’t pardon a specialist in the brig for a major crime just because the FOB came under siege or the front was having difficulty.

Also important I feel to mention is I wouldn’t waste my time with a pardon if an appeal could accomplish the same goal, assuming the case isn’t time sensitive like some examples. Marine Law has an appeal function and a separate CO pardon function for a reason.

Though on that note, I WOULD pardon someone if I believe they were brigged along lines of malicious compliance, fringe takes on ML that I would disagree with, or otherwise rather than wasting time with an appeal while an operation is going on and that person would be beneficial to the operation. The CO has the highest authority ML wise on the Almayer for a reason.

When do you believe it’s appropriate to use a Battlefield Execution? Give an example.
As I said before, I’ve read Marine Law and the Commanding Officer Code of Conduct. I won’t just copypaste what it says here about when you can or shouldn’t BE. I’m not going to BE someone unless it’s allowed.

To give an example of when I think it's appropriate, I’ll start with the classic briefing BE.

I’m not going to roundremove Mr. Marine because he and someone else decided to have some fun whacking eachother into crit with chairs in briefing. If there are MP’s online, they can deal with it. If staff are online as well, they can also deal with it after the fact and have a word with them about RP expectations.

However, on the flip side, the briefing BE is talked about often for a reason. If it’s particularly lowpop without capable MPs, if per se the brawl escalates into unwilling parties or turns bloody, doesn’t end after ordered and warned, and is causing significant disruption to the briefing, I’m well within my rights to BE the perpetrator/s and I could see myself doing so.

As another example I feel important to mention, I would BE someone actively trying to harm or overthrow one of my departments. I’ve quite often seen marines trying to ‘mutiny’ or ‘overthrow the MP’s’ while ignoring the Acting Commander or CO, the only entity they can actually mutiny against. A threat to the effective operations of the ship like that shouldn’t be ignored, and eventually calls of ‘LYNCH THE CMP’ could turn into ‘LYNCH THE CO’.

I would also heavily refrain from BEing obviously new players.

As of 2/4/2023, COs can now BE for LRP behavior! Woo!
I would try to use this sparingly as possible as per normal, as I understand BEs are generally, a little LRP overall in concept themself. However, I know, oddly enough, several rounds in the past where I’ve been XO, no MPs, only to hear “chef actively gibbing people for burgers” and I think the LRP BE is a positive ruling/addition to BE powers.

I'll give a +1 to you Hunter. I've played with you for awhile and you do have a good field understanding and are a capable presence in the CIC. Good luck.

    +1

Actually a solid XO to have and I think he can do it on his own.

Also gamed on me earlier with a Mateba and if he can hit a xeno with it...imagine what he could do to an LRP Marine.

This guy unironically knows what he's doing. A player with proper game sense, knows the mechanics of CIC, and has good conduct when playing.

Gets a hell yeah from me. +1

If you have enough experience to be voting on these apps, then you know this guy has his shit down pat. Solid answers, especially with roping in a very recent BE rule change, good on you for staying up to date. But to be honest I was gonna +1 the second I got through the personal information. A lotta people have been waiting for this app, and I have no doubt about your success both here and as a CO!

(but still play more SL you nerd)

I've seen nothing but great XO work from Hunter (also a solid SL), always happy to know that CIC will be handled well when he's around as Captain. Would be a great CO at that. +1

Easiest +1 of all time. You are an absolutely stellar XO, and you will do fantastic as CO. Nothing but good things I've seen from you with superb roleplay capabilities.

    WELCOME TO THE APPLICATION ZONE!!!

    Please answer my Q's c:

1.) You are made a CO, and you have a round where its just you and XO in CIC. Fight is going fairly well when you receive coords from an RTO for an OB, saying FIRE FIRE FIRE. Without hesitation, the XO dashes to the SO computer, lines up the coords and fires, and it kills 5 marines and no xenos. Marines are calling Command 'Stupid as hell' and yelling 'GOOD HITS'.

What would be your reaction to this, and your thought process throughout the entire thing?

2.) You are now made a CO, and Research made some greenos WITHOUT YOU KNOWING!!! What would you do?

    1.)
My thought process would start with recovering what's on the ground first and foremost. Get that frontline stable or fixed, if it hits the FOB, get it patched, and get medics to the scene for the non-gibbed marines. XO would be the next step. OOCly, I have over 160+ CIC hours and have spotted plenty of times for an OB. You better believe I have goofed up a few times, everyone does. Assuming I haven't previously spoken or warned them in past events in this round to them about expectations with the OB or other related issues and this wasn't obviously griefing or malevolent in nature, I'd give them a steely IC speech and explain to them their fuckup. This shit happens in rounds. RP and ICly wise, the after-action report, and any investigations by HC would give the ultimate judgment on the situation. In this specific case, I don't think it's in the spirit of the law to have them arrested in this circumstance. The same goes for the RTO spotter.
If I have previously told them to watch the OB, don't waste it, doublecheck the hit area, etc. I would seriously consider having them arrested for Manslaughter and NoD. The same goes for the spotter if they have been warned or had several fuckups in the past events of the round.
I feel rather strongly about this. I once launched an OB on Solaris LZ1 about a minute before evacuation as the spotter was yelling fire and actively being killed by Xenos. This was when I was very new to CIC and was an SO. This spotter had been consistent throughout the entire round, and it was a time-sensitive situation. I hit the OB without clearing it with the XO acting commander. It caused the PO to panic launch thinking we were OBing the LZ. Everyone, including me, thought I had fucked up the evac and killed a bunch of marines (it was later in dchat it was revealed to me it basically hit t-comms, killing nothing and nobody). The XO in question, without naming them, is extremely infamous. I felt incredibly dumb and really thought the XO was going to try and grief me into getting executed or something. They did the opposite, got my story, and were really nice and pleasant about it in LOOC and relatively ICly. I think I would've been way too scared to ever endup maining XO and playing command how I do if this had gone another way.
Lastly, got to deal with the angry marines. Make it clear what happened, and what is going to happen, apologize and move on. Try and avoid that mutiny. If the XO isn't a shitter and showing some humility, get them to own up. That always helps.

2.) Depending on the intent of the researchers and the real extent of this hive, they will end up arrested for NoD, or Sedition. For example, if the researchers obviously didn't know they needed Commander approval for greenos, thought the CMO could approve it, etc or other ignorance-related fails, and they didn't try to conceal it, realize their mistake and own up, and it's not too far gone to the point where the hive is an active threat(a larva in a cell), they'll get arrested for NoD for failing to ask for approval. A pardon could even be in order. If these fellas were trying to do it secretly and clearly knew what they were doing, they'll be arrested for sedition. What ends up happening to the hive itself depends on if they can be used to benefit the operation and if they are already a threat or not. If we've already/nearly won, exterminate them, keep the materials to make more stored away. If they are uncooperative, exterminate them. Another common example is if the marines are going to mutiny over the usage/existence of greenos, as much as a problem alone as that is, the greenos are getting axed. They are a means to an end for Hunter as a character, who is driven to succeed but not to the point of betraying the trust of those under him.

Dude knows what he's doing and his skills speak in game. He even knew COs could BE for LRP before most COs did. Nothing else I can add since everyone else said it.
