Yes this is how you ensure things move smothly

    Common Staff Situations

A player randomly shoots someone at round start and MPs have detained him.
If it was an accident I would have the MP's handle it IC since they already have him detained however if the player has a high note history of griefing or otherwise repeating this offence I would ban them

A player ahelps that a predator has violated the honor code when killing him, what should you do?
This I a tricky situation to handle since the honor code allowed a predator to kill a marine that is able to fight back. In honesty I would defer that the player make a player report but I would still check the logs to see if the predator is griefing or ruining the round via breaking rules.

You see a player walking around the ship naked and clearly lost at roundstart.
If he is clearly new I would probably ping a mentor to help them and if there are none I would pm him the wiki link and/or invite him to the discord and Voice with him and or spectate to help him along.

A player is being very rude to you in adminhelps, calling you names and arguing everything you say. He is requesting to speak to an Admin+ staff member.
I would tell him that being rude/insulting me is in no way helping him in his situation and if he believes that I am handling it improperly to issue a staff report and if he continues to harass I would PM mute him.

A player ahelps that a marine is named 'John Doe', how do you deal with this?
I would see if this guy is a long-standing player if so I would warn him about Rule 12 which he should already know about. If he is knew I would do the same and I believe admins have the power to change names since someone did this for my friend who attempted playing this.

You see a Maintenance Tech running around in armor and carrying a rifle. The security level is green and there has been no threat to the ship in the round at this point.
I would keep this at an IC level since he's not running around shooting the place up and griefing and I'm sure any competent MP that sees him with this will stop him and warn/detain him.

A Marine ahelps that they were killed by a survivor. It is early round, the Marines have just landed, and the survivor claims that they were outright hostile to all Marines from the get-go and openly stated their intentions. How do you deal with this?
Survivors are capable of being hostile at round start and I would inform the marine of this. however if the survivor flip-flops or turncoats this is in violation of the rules and then I would take action. Otherwise the Survivor is in the clear.

You receive an ahelp from a player stating that an MP has locked them up in permanent confinement for running into Requisitions and taking an attachment that was laying around.
This is a tricky situation since there are many different situations which can lead to this. I would PM the MP and get his side of the story and while the MP did this I Would check the logs to see if the player was griefing and/or doing anything else. If the player turns out to have just done this I would tell the MP to lower his sentence to the appropriate level.

The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the ship, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
I've had this situation happen before and admins can issue orders via the Queen mother to offer "suggestions" or orders for the hive to attack the ship resulting in the round end.

You are playing as a medic, and another medic overdoses all your patients and prevent marines from being revived. It seems like it may be on purpose. How do you deal with this situation?
Since I am in this situation as a player I would NOT handle this as a moderator to avoid any bias and I would ask in Msay or ahelp for another moderator to handle this issue.

The round ends, a Marine starts shooting a hostile CLF member and the CLF member ahelps about being killed after the round ended.
Just because the round ends does NOT mean you break character. CLF is naturally hostile to marines and I would inform the CLF member of this that just because the round ends does NOT mean you break character.

A Marine is running around disarming, punching and stealing gear at round start. You receive an ahelp from one of the victims.
I would see if his has a long note history and if he did I would grab the nice big ban hammer if not I would warn the player about No griefing and if he ignores this warning I would hit him with the hammer.

You receive an ahelp from a Marine saying that he was killed by another Marine. When you ask the murderer why, he said it was because the other Marine had punched him.
I have been through this situation before so I believe I know how to handle it. I would inform the marine that this is improper escalation and give him a wiki link to the rules so he can see for himself what rule he broke. No fist fight suddenly becomes a gunfight. I would then punish him.

You find out that there is an improper mutiny occuring. The mutineers are rallying together and preparing to storm the CIC. How would you attempt to resolve this situation?
I would use OOC to tell the marines that they must first elect or find a leader and have him Ahelp me the names of the members, the reason for the mutiny, and tell them that this is the regulations for mutinies.

There are minor racist comments going on IC. 9 of the 10 people are laughing and RPing but one player gets offended and Adminhelps about it.
I would tell him that this is basically a IC incident but if the guys are going overboard I would PM them or use LOOc and tell them hey, tone it down or cut it out it's obviously making someone uncomfortable.

A marine opens fire at round start in briefing killing multiple marines and instantly logs off.
I'd ban the guy instantly and go for perma and then I would revive anyone that the guy killed

You see a player playing a Xeno larva/chestburster run towards the frontlines straight from the Xeno hive the second they burst and die.
I would PM the guy and see why he did that if he has some bullcrap reason or other than "ayyy" I would apply a temp ban or xeno ban depending on previous notes.

You see a Xeno memeing, saying AYYLMAO, REEEEEE etc in hivemind chat, as well as insulting the Queen.
This is an obvious example of LRP and I do believe mods are cramping down on this harder now so I would inform the Xeno only 1 time to cut out the LRP and he MUST follow the queen order as the xenos are a hive-mind. I would also take a look at his notes if this is more than his first offence he'll get a xeno job ban

A Xeno player calls the shuttle a "dropship". A different Xeno player ahelps that it's low role play to call it a "dropship".
This isn't LRP the hivemind is just that a hivemind so something someone says to describe something such as "LZ1, Dropship" etc this is describing what the Xeno sees and something that the players understand so I find this to be perfectly fine as long as it isn't pushing boundries such as calling it the Alamo/Normandy.

A Command staff player at briefing near round-start mentions there are aliens on the planet. You receive an ahelp from a marine regarding this.
It states in the rules that the USCM only know about things that are human in origin which means no knowledge of the Yautja/Xenos and I would PM them to inform them that this is LRP and if he has a history of this I would jobban him telling him to appeal it after he understands that this is LRP and can ruin the immersion for some of the other marines.

You find a Marine killing another Marine on the EVAC Pod to take the last spot and claims it was RP as he was saving himself. There are two other marines in the pod along with him.
This is a very tricky question/situation. I would have to gaze at the logs to see if the situation was escalated properly and if there were any other pods that were able to be taken or if the guy was just being a griefer and trying to find and excuse to kill another marine. If it was an obvious a troll this would probably lead to a ban.

A player insults you after you warn them for a minor issue and begins ranting in LOOC or dchat about staff and mentions you specifically, referring to you as an 'idiot' and a 'retard'.
I would tell him to make a staff report and if he continues after multiple insults I will ban him for rule 3

A player ahelps saying he was hugged by a Xeno when he was ssd, and wants the larva be removed from him via admin powers. How do you handle the ahelp?
SSD happens at the WORST of times I know this, all players know this. I would tell him "Sorry man but you got the short end of the stick nothing I can do"

You see a fellow staff member give wrong information in an Adminhelp or incorrectly enforce a rule.
I would talk to him about it in msay and attempt to correct him here and if he doesn't I would defer to a higher power.

Two staff are arguing in msay if an ahelp is breaking a rule. Because the staff who took the ahelp thinks the player broke a rule, they ban the player based on their interpretation of the rules, with others thinking the person was fine. What would you do?
Honestly if I had to 100 percent get involved I would tell them to keep things at least respectful and if things get too out of hand I would ask for a staff member to handle things as this is out of my own jurisdiction

Why would you like to become a moderator?
I want to become a moderator because I want to be able to help the community that I've fallen in love with. I have been helped/punished by fair Moderation and all the mods here are GREAT people and I hope to become apart of that. I'm currently trying to learn coding so I can also become a developer to help CM out to the best of my ability.

In your opinion, what is the most important quality for a moderator?
The MOST important quality for a moderator has to be PAITENCE. Sometimes people are ignorant, some people are argumentive but you shouldn't let that affect your judgement. Other than patience I would have to say being unbiased we cannot let our personal feelings/opinions affect the rules of the server.

    Anything else you
I love the CM community and I love the people in it. When I first joined here I had LOADS of help from mentors, moderators, and the general playerbase. Most of the people here are great people who come on here to have fun and have a great time and that generally happens because of amazing volunteers that are moderators. I understand this can be a thankless job but even if I do not get accepted I want all of you to know that it is because of you CM can thrive and prosper and be fair to everyone and YOU also bring the joy and excitement with events and ensuring that the shitters are weeded out so, thank you. I hope to become apart of the moderating community and even if I do not I will always support you guys 100 percent.

Moderators have the ability to do so now.

I would keep this at an IC level since he's not running around shooting the place up and griefing and I'm sure any competent MP that sees him with this will stop him and warn/detain him.
It would be a good idea to check their notes and keep an eye on them especially if they do hold a history of grief. If you can anticipate an issue and resolve it before it starts it'll be better for everyone.
EORG is allowed between hostile factions outright. They arent required to roleplay but if they do break rules it's an issue.
A Marine is running around disarming, punching and stealing gear at round start. You receive an ahelp from one of the victims.
I would see if his has a long note history and if he did I would grab the nice big ban hammer if not I would warn the player about No griefing and if he ignores this warning I would hit him with the hammer.
Round start shenanigans are not allowed. A harsh note if no history of such if you're feeling nice, but any history and a ban.
How would you handle this situation if the offending player had no issues vs a medium history of poor judgement within the past 6 months?
A marine opens fire at round start in briefing killing multiple marines and instantly logs off.
I'd ban the guy instantly and go for perma and then I would revive anyone that the guy killed
Answer is roughly good, the priority though being important would be a 7 day ban, ahealing those affected and then filing for a perma. We do not hand perma bans outright, we have a process for those.
Mistakes can happen after playing the game a thousand times over. Ruling it as lrp wouldn't be fitting, more a metaknowledge than lrp, and neither a jobban at all. Even if they have a note of this kind of accident in the past a jobban is very harsh. A message in ooc to ignore what the command player has said and a warn/note on the player would suffice.
A player insults you after you warn them for a minor issue and begins ranting in LOOC or dchat about staff and mentions you specifically, referring to you as an 'idiot' and a 'retard'.
I would tell him to make a staff report and if he continues after multiple insults I will ban him for rule 3
If it gets to a point this will work just fine, do remember that staff have a mute function if a player is being especislly disruptive in a chat.

Currently I am feeling neutral towards you, I have a few example scenarios to give you and see how you would handle them.

    1. The marines have retreated back onto the Almayer and hijack has been alerted. An MP is arresting a specialist for a valid crime. The specialist's squad decides to jump the mp and beat the shit out of him and kill him.

    2. Roundstart and there's a massive brawl in briefing and someone dies.

    3. A T3 xenomorph has gone SSD and has used staff-help in discord to alert that their internet has gone out. The queen decides to devolve the T3 due to the SSD. The xenomorph gets back in and ahelps the situation.

    4. You notice that during a round there are a few people in the official CM discord's voice chat. Upon joining there's talk of what's happening to one of them in the round in great detail.

Here's a few scenarios, id like to see how you handle them.

    1. You are observing when two ahelps come in one after another. It seems the Captain has battlefield executed a pilot officer for refusing to deploy and the pilot officer claims its griefing. The other one is from the Chief MP, they notify you that them self, two other MPs and about 10 marines are now going to mutiny and provide the reason for such is that the Captain forced them to wear helmets. What do you do?

    2. You are on the server handling an ahelp and begin to issue a ban. An admin tells you that what you are doing is not the correct punishment. However a senior moderator ensures you that you are. What do you do?

Furthermore id just like to address some concerns.

While you can roleplay quite well and perform on the server with little to no issues. You have been known to, at times go a little over the top in deadchat which myself and others have noticed. You say patience is the most important quality. But how will you guarantee you can hold your patience and deal with situations that might anger you?

Furthermore you just received a low RP note four days ago. What are the chances of such happening again?

I am curious to see your answers.

    EDIT:

On a more important note can you explain the ckey?

1.) I have been in the MP's position and was actually helped out by a moderator on this. I'm going to go with what they said in that in delta alert the MP's priority is NOT To arrest people but to ensure the safety and protection of the ship and crew. Now if they are preventing his REVIVE that is another story as this is against the rules. I would also investigate the specialist and the ones who started the fight with the MP to see if they have any prior notes I would also talk to all the individuals involved to see if there is another story behind this. Such as if the specialist was actually attacking the MP and that was the reason the MP was arresting him so on and so forth.

2.) I believe that mods are also cracking down on round start shittery so I would OOC and tell them to stop the brawl immediately and then have medics revive the guy that died. I would then start the investigation by PMing the dead guy and seeing who attacked him the most and who attacked him first and sort of work my way down the list to see who and why the fight started and if I find a singular person who has a high note history I would take action. (This would probably take a huge amount of time)

3.) This is almost a parody of the marine SSD hugger question. I would probably do/say the same thing and say that SSD's happen at the worst of times and that there would be nothing I can do and that this issue is purely IC and I would remind the player that the Queen reserves the right to devolve any player for any reason.

4.) from my knowledge meta coms is very, very illegial so just to be tripple sure I would make sure no mod/admin gave them permission for any reason and if no I would issue a 3 hour ban to each of the offending players and then I would notify discord staff of the offence.

    -Vealkind81
1.) I would inform the CMP/MP's involved that they are not allowed to mutiny and should not allow other marines to attempt a mutiny either it explains this in their wikipages and marine law. The other ten marines are allowed to mutiny only if they ahelp the name of the leader and the marines involved with the mutiny. As for the PO I would inform him that just like the queen in devolving the captain can perform a BE when and where he sees fit (unless the person is in police custody). If he truly believes that the BE was greifing I would have him file out a player report for the whitelist council to handle.

2.) I would listen to the admin and administer the correct punishment he requests. While the senior moderator outranks me, the admin is above all moderators. I would apologize to the Senior moderator if me not listening to him offends him but the Admin has the jurdistiction here.

As for the Dchat and the question about paitence I would hold myself to a higher standard after becoming mod. It's part of the sacrafice players make when they become an admin/moderator they have to hold themselves above that type of behavior. So when/if I become a moderator I would no longer partake in the LRP/Dchat blowups as I need to carry myself like a modreator. Almost like how in real life your boss could have been the most light-hearted jokingly person ever but now he's hardened and he demands results. That's because of the requirements and responsibilties of his job. That part of him doesn't go away but it becomes very regulated and controlled. I'm sorry if I went too crazy on this answer but this is the best way I could explain it.

As for the ckey Taketheshot mentions here he informed me last night that there was another ckey using my IP when it logged on. This of course raised concern and taketheshot contacted me asking why. I was confused for myself and we talked for a few minutes before I contacted Jamie. Jamie and I then figured out that it was due to me using a hotspot as my source of internet.

If there are any further questions please do not be afraid to message me on discord/here I am up to be contacted at all times.

Whilst I approve of the majority of you answers I am going to remain neutral, I believe you have potential as a moderator but youre also impulsive and as others have mentioned somewhat impatient. If you can show me you can be patient and act to the professional standards we expect I will happily change my vote.

Your answers seem satisfactory for the questions and with parts that you cannot know without staff knowledge, you handled as best as possible in that regard. While I am iffy on a few minor things those can and should be ironed out in a trial process to become more accustom to how we as a staff team wish things to be handled specifically.

    +1, you have potential.

I'm personally not very pleased with the answers. I feel that while most are "close enough" or "acceptable". Normally, this wouldn't be a huge deal for me, as the trial period exists to iron these problems out, but I have deep concerns about your previous behavior.

There are more notes than I'd like to see, especially for being a Moderator. A note just 4 days ago doesn't look great to me. Moderators are held to an extremely high standard when it comes to knowing, and following the rules. I'm concerned that may be an issue for you.

I am also concerned about the frequent contacting of Staff in regards to when the next Predator round would be, or if it would be forced. It comes off as extremely impulsive to me, and that's an extremely dangerous trait in a Moderator.

Ultimately, I'm not against giving you a trial period, despite the previous issues. I hope they're all in the past, but it does not inspire confidence.
