Space Beast is a banned book about the xenomorphs (on the rims of the colonies I think) which is apparently even illegal to read or mention. Would marines know the existence of this book and would captains know the contents of this book?

Probably not since if i also remember about the book is that there arent alot of copies of it around and its quite hard to get hold and most people havent heard of the book so i doubt anyone on the alamyer (besides the CL maybe) would of heard of it let alone read it
Despite the possibility someone on the ship might have read it, it is against rules for marines to have prior knowledge of xenos. I agree maybe the CL, and also agree it is unlikely marines would have read a book about aliens. MAYBE heard about the book, but eh, I've never seen an IC reason to bring it up.
Goosen Dagen-casual marine
It's a book written by that one guy that survived Alien 3, you could probably mention on how it is set on a prison or some shit on Prison.
Marines can't read, what the hell you on about
I think the xenos were mentioned in the book. Real talk, when was the last time you went to a library and grabbed an encyclopedia on space creatures? This book is rare and even then who would read a book that isn't mainstream? Not marines.
Morse wrote Space Beast after the events of Alien 3 once he was transferred to another prison. His book is all about the xenomorph, thus why it was banned.
