    Practice Dummy Suggestion

    So ... I've been thinking.

We have a shooting range on the Almayer, but when we hit said dummies, it doesn't show us how much damage it would deal or the range.

I was also thinking of perhaps getting the xenomorphs dummies to practice on, since some abilities only work if you actually click/hit an actual mob/entity.

    So here's my suggestion(s):

    Human dummies:
    Spoiler Spoiler:

    Xenos:
    Spoiler Spoiler:

Now ... I do realize that giving actual statistics, or even damage RANGES in the #'s would be meta-gaming.
    But here's the thing:
Most people want to know how many slashes or shots they need in order to crit, which I think would be great.

Now ... I understand if you don't want the statistics, or the damage, or the printouts and 'scents' and all that stuff.

So I also have a counter-proposal as well:

Just give xenos a practice dummy.

I cannot TELL YOU how many times I have picked a strain, or picked up a new xeno caste and not known what the f*** it even does because there are no 'active and alive' mobs to target, particularly with warrior punches, jabs, and grabs.

I'll leave it to the vote.

Marines won't get anything that shows amount of damage done to prevent power gaming. Right now, testing weapons on monkeys as researcher can get you ban etc.
But I agree that instead of paper cutouts on stake, we should have special mob instead.

That doesn't seem very fair. Researchers don't have nothing to do 90% of the time, and when they try to do something usefull like testing damage statistics, it's bannable?

    Yes, it's powergaming.

    As I said before:

There doesn't need to be a 'statistic' thing at all.

I just want the xenos to have a target for practicing/learning what the actual f*** their abilities do.

i wouldn't mind having some form of xeno target practice, not sure how you could implement it, but maybe have some form of npc human that can't be face hugged or attack back?

A wider firing range which let people get their head around bullet pathing would be nice, and if the targets were actually knocked over when shot (but could be reset from a button).

Honestly, this would backfire horribly if it was ever implemented.

It would just empower powergamers by allowing them to test out their strongest builds, until they find a setup so powerful that everyone ends up using it, which'll just end up causing unwanted nerfs to happen. A lot of nerfs were the result of abuse, and the nerfs in question weren't needed, but the people using them wouldn't stop abusing them, so...

it would be fun to have more interactive dummies, but I'd rather they not give you detailed information. Hit confirmation is really all one would need to practice their aim.

Not sure why xenos would need firing ranges, though...
