    DerpehBoi - Commander Application

    Commander Whitelist Application
    Byond ID?
    DerpehBoi

    Player Name You Use Most?
    Matthew Johnson

Make a list of links to all of your applications and (job)ban appeals, including whitelist and staff apps, within the last year. Also, provide "Ban reason; Verdict" beside each (job)ban link
    I don't have any.

Have you received any ban within the last month? How long was it and what for?
I have not received a ban here or anywhere else.

Do you understand that any player - even donors or staff members - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our Server Rules or Roleplay Guidelines?
    Yes

How do you view the tool of Battlefield Execution to be used? What circumstances do you think it would be necessary to BE a member of the crew? Where do you think the Battlefield Execution Mechanic Differs from regular Execution and why?
I believe the Battlefield Execution should be used in case of direct threat to those around me where it would be better to stop them there instead of risking more damage to personnel/the ship to make a proper execution. I believe it would be necessary to be part of the crew when there is a job that can not be filled by anyone else capable. I believe battlefield executions differ from regular executions due to the fact that regular executions can be dealt with in a procedure where as battlefield executions need to be handled right then.

How will your Commanding Officer run his/her ship? Provide a detailed explanation on how he would handle situations that might commonly occur such as, a insubordinate engineering staff, a Staff Officer who cannot do anything right, an Executive Officer wh
I will run the ship by thinking through each decision made and ensure that I am making a decision that will be either immediately or later helpful. In the case of a insubordinate staff I would have a announcement requesting them to be handled by MP or to turn themselves into the MP. With a SO who can not do anything right I will have them demoted to a job they are more capable of.

What do you think is the job of a Commander?
To make sure things are running correctly and to co-ordinate with the Marines.

As a player what do you think could be added for Commanding Officer to benefit the role?
I do not see anything that would need to be added that has not already been added.

What do you think you could contribute by being whitelisted?
I believe I can contribute my dedication and help others where they need it.

Choose one of the following story topics to write about
During my first operation as CO we had just landed on our target planet. The marines began waking up and preparing. While they prepared I made sure all the staff were ready for the marines. After the marines had eaten and geared up they went to the briefing room where I explained to them "We are at a planet for a distress call. We do not know what there may be down there or if there are any survivors so be ready for anything. I want bravo and delta setting up an FOB around the LZ and defending it and alpha and charlie search for an entrance to the site and report back with instructions to get there. Once you have completed these return to the FOB and have your appropriate SL say "Task complete" over the command comms. Once all tasks are completed I will give further instructions. Now go.". Once they started to deploy we had the FOB set up quickly due to having two teams working on it. After a bit Alpha and Charlie reported back with a location and I instructed Charlie to move into the area and scout it out. As they were opening a door that's when we saw one of the creatures. Charlie's Specialist fired a scout incendiary round at it causing it to retreat into vents. Once we got in I notified the other squads of alien lifeforms inside the building and told charlie to proceed with caution. Eventually the SL heard a noise when one of those creatures came in and attacked the squad. While they were focusing on it another one had come and dragged the specialist away. Charlie's SL fired on the enemy but it managed to get away. I warned the other squads that the creatures are confirmed hostile and that lethal force should be used whenever possible against them. I sent in Alpha as reinforcements to Charlie. After Alpha got to Charlie they continued to move and we saw some strange black secretion covering walls and floors. We continued in and thats when we saw a large one with an egg sac attached. I ordered them to retreat but a bunch of those things came and took out most of Charlie and Alpha. The Alpha SL and a Charlie standard marine managed to get away with minor injuries. I contacted the other teams and told them we found what was believed to be a hive. Shortly after the survivors managed to get back to the base we heard a distant roar followed by many more screeches. Not long after we found swarms of those aliens coming towards our FOB. They tried to hold them off while I had a ship come down as rescue. When the ship got down there the marines had just been killed off and the aliens began boarding the Alamo. The pilot was killed and his corpse hit the return button sending the Alamo back to the Almayer. I had MP and Technicians prepare defenses as I prepped the escape pods. The CMP insisted on staying behind to arm the self destruct sequence. The fortifications we made managed to hold them off long enough for the escape pods to launch with me and most of the staff to escape. Not long after we all launched the CMP had the final rod ready and detonated the ship. We lost a lot that day and I learned that you can never know what to expect no matter what.

So I'm gonna be honest with you here. I had a feeling that you were new just by reading your application, but I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt. Just so happens I got you as my XO on a round earlier today. You didn't even know where the OW console was/what it looked like, and then you decided that you weren't ready for the job yet and cryo'd. I think I'd agree with your assessment.

Your answers are lackluster. They almost look modeled after other applications, which isn't necessarily an issue, but they could really use work. Your story is kinda mediocre. It doesn't highlight your personality at all. The only character with even a shred of personality was the CMP character, and he blew up. There's a couple minor nitpicks here and there, but honestly I could look past all of them if your story was good and it showed me how you'd behave as a CO. Unfortunately, it doesn't really do much of that.

You seem smart. For as new as you appear to be, you at least have a grasp on a fair few of the key concepts/vocabulary. However, you need to get an understanding of the inner workings of Command. I recommend playing SO for awhile before moving up to XO. Come back when you're ready, and I'll be more than happy to give a stamp of approval. For the time being, though, it's a -1 from me. I hope to see you back in the CIC soon, though.

I'm sorry but the lack of content, effort and thought in this application is disgusting.

Please just scrap this entire idea and rewrite it all and take a look at the accepted apps section.

I'm assuming you are new. Not just because your post count and the fact I don't recognize you, but because your responses to the application. Nobody would ever turn themselves to the mps. That's not how cm works. Overall the app, answers, and story are weak.

Don't be discouraged, we just want what is best for marines. Play pfc more, learn how combat flows. Play CIC more and play from that perspective. Then consider CO. Hope to see you around.

Yeah, don't apply until you at least know how to run a CIC where everyone is a vet and aren't willing to help you out if you are new. Don't be saddened by this maybe reapply in a few months (if you decide to stay for the long ride) I'd love to see you as a professional XO and or CO in the future. Just don't give up or be discouraged keep workin' at it and maybe ONE DAY you will sit on the golden throne. But until then I am sad to say from just seeing what scsnv said you obviously are not currently even able to play XO none the less CO. -1

    - I dont recall ever seeing you around, so I went ahead and checked your time/notes to see how long youve been around.
You have no notes, which is good, but you also only have 11 and a half hours this month, and no more for the entirety of the year.

Thats a big issue. The application itself is rather barebones and has told me nearly nothing about your character, or how youd do in leadership positions.

Play more in genneral, but also get some time in command. Check out accepted apps, and add more detail to your next app. If you need any help or have questions, any of us Councilmembers would be more then happy to help.

This application is not just some piece of paper work for you to fill in to show us that you can write a few sentences in english. There needs to be context to it because this is what you present yourself with.

Get some more experience, spend some more time around and once you get the hang of how things work and build some sort of a name for yourself, feel free to re-apply. Otherwise I don't see anything that sets you apart from an average XO/SO, to be meriting the whitelist of a CO.

Your app doesn't tell us alot about your character or how you will run the ship.
You also seem to be really new. You should have a look at the accepted applications, ask for help in the discord's whitelist-help channel and also become more active on the forums and in-game. -1 from me.
