Common Staff Situations
A player randomly shoots someone at round start and MPs have detained him. I would watch closely, let it take it's course to check his notes, then PM him and find out what happend and why. In case of lack of response, i would try asking him a second and a third time about what happen.
If the player answers and call for accident, i would check the server logs and if confirmed, i would let it go pass and write down a note on his key.
In case of intentional griefing, i would sound a warning and write down a note on his player logs, in case of second offense, straight up ban.
A player ahelps that a predator has violated the honor code when killing him, what should you do? Direct the player to make a player report and report to Pred council.
You see a player walking around the ship naked and clearly lost at roundstart. Firstly, adressing a mentor if any is available, in lack of mentors, i would direct him to getting dressed and geared and linked with another experienced marine.
Also, sent a invite to discord channels in order to help him through the round if needed.
A player is being very rude to you in adminhelps, calling you names and arguing everything you say. He is requesting to speak to an Admin+ staff member. Firstly, i would ask him to calm down and if he is unhappy with the ways the things are going, direct him to make a staff report, write down a note on his player notes and save a log for further evidence, i DO remember that the player painel has a button to mute a individual player from Ahelp, but unsure if mods have the permissions for it, if does, i would ask the player to calm down and warn that in case he refuses, he would be muted from Ahelps.
If it escalates, a 2-3 hour ban would be applied so that the player can calm down and lower the salt levels.
A player ahelps that a marine is named 'John Doe', how do you deal with this? Refers him to Rule 12 and ask him to choose a new name, in case of mods having permits for it, i would be changing his name, otherwise, directing the matter to a admin.
You see a Maintenance Tech running around in armor and carrying a rifle. The security level is green and there has been no threat to the ship in the round at this point. IC issue. Unless it's a Metagaming or Powergaming situation, i would let it carry on.
A Marine ahelps that they were killed by a survivor. It is early round, the Marines have just landed, and the survivor claims that they were outright hostile to all Marines from the get-go and openly stated their intentions. How do you deal with this? Would tell him that it's a IC issue and it's a valid situation. Survivors CAN be hostile to USCM, now when the survivor is on the almayer that can be a rule breaking situation and actions would be taken.
You receive an ahelp from a player stating that an MP has locked them up in permanent confinement for running into Requisitions and taking an attachment that was laying around. I would PM both the player and the MP, and check if the history matches, and check the player notes. if the history matches with the MP side (Crimes comitted worth a permanent confinament), then i would state is a IC issue. But if the MP permabrigged the player for theft and trespassing (not crimes punishable by permabrigging), I would PM the MP asking to decrease sentence, giving him a warning thru PM and on his player notes. If the MP is doing that constantly, a Job-ban would be applied.
The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the ship, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other? SM the CO or other under the chain of command, then QM the Xenos. If CO dosen't get the message, Use High Command to send a clear message/order.
You are playing as a medic, and another medic overdoses all your patients and prevent marines from being revived. It seems like it may be on purpose. How do you deal with this situation? I would ask other staff or moderators to investigate as I would be BIASED for the case.
The round ends, a Marine starts shooting a hostile CLF member and the CLF member ahelps about being killed after the round ended. Nothing would be done, Rule 4 states that Hostile factions does not constitute EORG.
A Marine is running around disarming, punching and stealing gear at round start. You receive an ahelp from one of the victims. I would check the player history and depending of the history, i would give the player a warning for Griefing and LOW RP, as there is no VALID reason for him to do that.
You receive an ahelp from a Marine saying that he was killed by another Marine. When you ask the murderer why, he said it was because the other Marine had punched him. Firstly, i would check notes to see if there was anything connecting him to the current behavior, and check how it escalated, if it went from punching to shooting, it's improper escalation of events, i would apply a note and warning on the players note, a ban would be applied if it's the second offense in less than 1 month.
You find out that there is an improper mutiny occuring. The mutineers are rallying together and preparing to storm the CIC. How would you attempt to resolve this situation? OOC or LOOC the rule 17 and request on Ahelp the assigned leader of the mutiny and 5 members which desire to mutiny against command, and inform that command staff cannot be denied to be revived after the fighting concludes. Would ensure that no non-involved personnel would be harmed.
If the group fails to follow the guidelines, warnings and bans would be applied.
There are minor racist comments going on IC. 9 of the 10 people are laughing and RPing but one player gets offended and Adminhelps about it. Ask on LOOC to people to go easy with the racist comments. Would ask help from other staff to see if i am not being unfair or biased or even conspicuously bad toward the fact.
A marine opens fire at round start in briefing killing multiple marines and instantly logs off. Grief, One week perma, would file a request for permanent ban. update the player note with what happend.
You see a player playing a Xeno larva/chestburster run towards the frontlines straight from the Xeno hive the second they burst and die. Would pm for a excuse and check the history, it's a way to grief the xenos and would apply a temp xeno ban or a permanent xeno ban depending of history.
You see a Xeno memeing, saying AYYLMAO, REEEEEE etc in hivemind chat, as well as insulting the Queen. Rule 2, would ask him to read about Roleplay standards on the xenos section and tell him that xenos are not allowed to disobey the queen. Would make a note about Xeno LRP.
A Xeno player calls the shuttle a "dropship". A different Xeno player ahelps that it's low role play to call it a "dropship". Would answer as acceptable as per roleplay standards. mark as resolved.
A Command staff player at briefing near round-start mentions there are aliens on the planet. You receive an ahelp from a marine regarding this. Unless a event from admin staff is taking place, i would pm the Command staff about the roleplay standards and tell that marines have no knowledge about Xenomorph existance.
i would file a player note and in case of being a recurrent problem a jobban would be applied.
You find a Marine killing another Marine on the EVAC Pod to take the last spot and claims it was RP as he was saving himself. There are two other marines in the pod along with him. Would check how the situation escalated on the logs. Would also ask for the statement of the other two on the pod to see how it escalated. If the investigation shows proper escalation, i would leave it be, would call a IC issue.
Otherwise, in case of improper escalation, i would file up a player note about improper escalation of events, if malicious intent is found, a temp ban of 3-4 hours would be applied.
A player insults you after you warn them for a minor issue and begins ranting in LOOC or dchat about staff and mentions you specifically, referring to you as an 'idiot' and a 'retard'. tell him to fill up a staff report and ask him to cease, if it continues mute the individual from dchat, LOOC, OOC and Ahelps untill the round ends and file up a player note.
A player ahelps saying he was hugged by a Xeno when he was ssd, and wants the larva be removed from him via admin powers. How do you handle the ahelp? i would tag as IC issue. There is nothing i could do.
You see a fellow staff member give wrong information in an Adminhelp or incorrectly enforce a rule. I would discuss the matter and throw in my opinion, if the staff member continues and i feel it's wrong, i would contact the Mod manager about the fact and ask for guidance.
Two staff are arguing in msay if an ahelp is breaking a rule. Because the staff who took the ahelp thinks the player broke a rule, they ban the player based on their interpretation of the rules, with others thinking the person was fine. What would you do? i would ask both of them to direct it to a staff channel, at this point, both of the staff members are biased on their opinions and may be a bit "salt" duo the adrenaline of discussion. I would ask to higher up take up the matter, as he would not be biased and would take a action wihout being biased by both staff.
Why would you like to become a moderator? I would like to the community to continue healthy and growing with my own experience on CM-13.
In your opinion, what is the most important quality for a moderator? Patience. You need to be calm to handle things and Salt from a player.
Anything else you I am sorry about any spelling and grammar problem that you may find, i am a brazilian player and have alot more time on the weekends to help out.
I am NOT perfect, i have my faults but i wish to learn more and get more and more experiences.
