    Yautja Character Story
    Character Demographics, Background, & Personality:

    Average height and skinny build.
Not very strong compared to other Yautja, and as such relies more on subterfuge to achieve his goals.
Takes a vast and passionate interest in art and philosophy.
He is very patient, but decisive when needed. Usually takes a ruthless, but NEVER reckless course of action. Always seems to take something good out of a seemingly unsalvageable situation.

    Character Story:

I sat in my room, reading a translated version of a human book on philosophy. In my quarters are various works of art I had copied from humans, along with a bookshelf full of translated books. I find their culture quite interesting and diverse, and even full of many helpful proverbs.

My elder walked in, and asked Are you ready for your first hunt Kain?.

I nodded, and put away my book on the shelf.

    I checked my gear.

I had a combi-stick, a medi-comp should I require it, a sonic mine, my special human-emulated painted mask, cloaking device, and wrist blades.

I also brought along an electronic notepad for notes of behavior about creatures and in particular the humans.

I hopped into my pod, and made way for the planets surface.

The planet was relatively temperate, it seemed to be to be the fall season on this planet. There seemed to be a lot of pine trees, along with a good handful of others.

I jumped out of my pod, then activated its cloak. I then marked the pods location on my bio-mask so I wouldnt forget its location.

After this I headed towards where the scanners showed prey activity from the ship.

As I drew near the area, I noticed a human encampment.

It was relatively small, but well fortified. It also had a small landing pad for their dropships to go to and from on.

I wasnt too worried about them escaping, and would allow that to happen should the occasion arise. I was, however, more worried more about the destructive capabilities a dropship carried.

There seemed to be turrets watching all 4 corners of the fort. However, there seemed to be only 2 manned guard posts watching both of the entrances.

They dont seem to trust the capability of some of the aspects of their own technology, interesting. I thought as I made a note of it on my notepad.

I wouldnt dare go into the encampment as there were too many humans in there. I would rather lure them out. I knew these humans were marines by the gear they wore. And as such, would investigate abnormalities of sorts.

I took my visor and selected the mask to play a serpent and human encounter at near max volume.

I then played the audio recording, and quickly went into another position to see the reaction of the encampment. Predictably, the humans sent out a squad to investigate the sound. They seemed to be in a search pattern rather than a defensive formation.

They would rather sacrifice themselves for one of their friends than guarantee their safety, interesting. I thought and took some notes.

There didnt seem to be a smartgunner or a weapons specialist among them. This would make this much easier for hunting. I did, however, want to identify the squad leader. They could call in support, and that would make this hunt very messy.

I quickly found the squad leader in his signature armor with the helmet decorated with a pitch black and forest green paint in an intricate pattern. I took a particular interest in him because of his helmet design.

I need to see how well his soldiers follow orders I thought to myself. If you know your enemy and know yourself. You will know the result of every battle before it even begins.

I smiled at the human philosophy. I then moved to another place a far distance off, and played an audio of a marine shouting for help. I then hid in the trees and watched. The marines came and started searching for the cause of the shout. I analyzed the squad leaders facial expression. He seemed very suspicious as his squad members one by one shouted clear.

I suddenly had a feeling this squad leader was about to give his marines an order that they wouldnt comply with. I smiled smugly and went deep into the woods, and played the same recording again, then came back to watch what had happened.

The squad leader seemed to be begging at the marines not to go deeper into the forest, saying it was a trap. The marines countered that SL, theres a guy that needs saving! No marine left behind remember?!.

I almost fell out of my tree at this revelation. I never knew of this culture of the marines and quickly made a note of it.

They seemed to argue for a full 10 minutes. This was all amusing to me. Almost predictably, most of the squad finally left towards the sound. This left only 3 marines, including the squad leader, behind.

So this new culture of marines I have discovered applies to all except for those 2 I thought as I made a note.

The squad leader and the 2 others started walking back to the encampment in a weak, but defensive formation.

I decided to make my move, getting closer and closer to them while in my cloak while readying my combi-stick.

I de-cloaked and leaped down from the tree and struck my combi-stick down through the back of one of the privates, instantly incapacitating them. The squad leader and the other marine quickly drew their weapons and shouted profanities as they opened fired on Kainde.

I made a hasty retreat behind a tree and cloaked again as 2 bullets plinked against my armor. I then moved to another position as the squad leader ordered the other marine to pick up the incapacitated one and haul ass to the FOB.

The squad leader and his private started to run towards the encampment.

I quickly took a note of the words spoken and put a * next to it, then resumed my hunt.

I once again did another strike from the tree-tops. I aimed for the other privates legs to incapacitate him.

The squad leader cursed and quickly pulled out his weapon and open fired on me. The bullets plinked off me again like rocks thrown against a stone wall. I deftly jabbed my combi-stick into the squad leaders left shoulder, then expertly knocked his weapon out of his hands as he was sent tumbling to the ground.

The squad leader screamed out in pain and he drew a knife and made a quick riposte towards my foot. The knife struck the weak part of his armor and sliced into his ankle.

I was greeted by searing pain as I roared and kicked the squad leader across the face with my other foot, knocking him out for a few seconds but not killing him.

The squad leader woke up to me pinning him down. I looked deep into the leaders eyes and saw they werent full of anger, or even panic. They were filled with a sort of sadness, like he had failed. I saw that he was staring at his 2 squad-mates on the ground moaning and begging for death.

I was always taught that in hunts you dont always have to show off your prizes for others. Sometimes you have to claim a different type of trophy for yourself.

The leader looked at Kainde and just said Please and started crying. I thought about the leader for a moment, then simply grabbed his helmet and took it off.

The leader suddenly looked perplexed, but said nothing. He then quickly, and quietly, started whimpering because of his wounds. Kainde went over to the loudly moaning private and his unconscious friend, and did the same with their helmets. One of them seemed to have an ace card face painted on it in dirty black.

He then went back to the squad leader and pointed to the drawings and designs on it. The squad leader said I-I dont know if you c-can understand, b-b-but thats an idea that keeps on g-g-giving. as he moaned on the ground.

I put the helmet away, then put the leaders radio into his hands. I then jumped away as I cloaked and watched from the trees what would happen next. He achieved what he had wished for this hunt. He had gained knowledge and further understanding of the humans. This would help him in future hunts.

The squad leaders fellow marines came back hastily and set up a perimeter as his medics came and treated their wounds.

Kainde swiftly, and quietly, went back his pod and took off back towards his ship. He then put the squad leaders helmet onto one of his desks, and studied it for almost 3 weeks.

Kainde knew they would be on the lookout for him, so he thought it best to leave and perhaps return at a later date.

    -----

    -----

    -----

I sat in my room, thinking about what the marines that day were doing and thinking.

I looked over my notes I had taken that day and came to several conclusions:
1: The marines have a sense of camaraderie that is not easily broken.
2: The majority of marines seem to obey this sense of camaraderie, even if it means making a tactical or strategic error. They would rather have 1 die to save 1 marine rather than leave them to die.
3: Those who do not will typically be giving orders, or follow them to the T.

I looked over my conclusions and found them satisfactory.

However, there was one thing that bothered me the most. It was the fact that not all the marines decided to fall for the decoy.

Not only did this happen, but they did so without question.

What makes the marines who decide to follow orders unique? I thought to myself.

Most importantly, why do they do what they do? I added to my notebook.

Perhaps on my next hunt I will understand further. I then examined the squad leader helmet.

It was a simple yet intricate design, and was most worthy to be in his collection.

I must understand you even if I die trying. I quietly said to myself.

Describe how your Yautja acts, and how you intend to play them
Im intending to make my Yautja a sort of copy of Grand Admiral Thrawn from the star wars series. Of course this is without the whole commands entire fleets and that sort of thing. I study my enemies very carefully by looking at their culture, art, philosophy, and other aspects of their lives. I take particular interest in those who defy normal standards or dont seem to be normal and write their actions and behavior down.

In your own words, describe the difference between an honor duel and a hunt
An honor duel states that both sides stand an equal chance of winning, usually gear-wise. Though wits and cunning are another aspect that can, and will be included. A hunt is something a predator (In this case Yautja) does to get something they that they desire or need, like food. In the Yautjans case, more honor and glory the more difficult the kill.

How do you intend on interacting with other predators during a round?
I intend to spark up interesting conversations regarding the culture, art, and philosophy of the human race, how diverse their abilities are, and why some of them may differentiate from the normal stereotype. Though I intend to be perhaps a little hostile to those who do not at least appreciate art as I do.

Why do you want a predator whitelist?
I want a predator because I have been wanting it for a long time. I believe this predator is incredibly unique not only in the way he hunts prey, but also in the entire way he approaches them. I believe I would be a great addition to the current whitelist.

Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or disobey the Predator Code of Honor?
    Yes

I never thought you could ever get a predator whitelist. I thought you were just wasting your time applying again and again, but this time around, you've made an alright application.

The story's pretty good. Characterization is done pretty well and the character is unique; someone could make the argument that Yautja don't really care to learn about humans, but I think it's fair to say that Yautja who are particularly interested in hunting humans might want to spend the time learning their culture to better understand them.

"A hunt is something a predator (In this case Yautja) does to get something they that they desire or need, like food."

Hunts for predators aren't about getting food, they're more about obtaining trophies and proving your honor to other clansmen in combat. They have food in the pred ship if they're hungry. In game, predators arrive at the colony solely so they can hunt humans and xenomorphs to make trophies out of them, not because they need something from these hunts.

Remember to keep your cool in game, and try not to get dewhitelisted immediately.

Thank you all for the great input, +1's, and feedback!

Kineem, to address some of your concerns, I probably should have worded it differently. If you look at the sentence after the one you quoted, it addresses that Yautja don't need food, but rather honor and glory in hunts.

I would also like to elaborate that my Yautja, in addition to art and philosophy, places a very high price on knowledge. This is why I also added at the end of my story:
I must understand you even if I die trying. I quietly said to myself.

If you have any other questions, fire away!
