Yautja Character Story
We are the culmination of our forebears, the works of the ancestors both fair and ill lie now in our bodies and it is in those who live where the destiny of all who came before, become truly manifest.
And that destiny is death. Even the greatest hunter will one day fall into Cetanus clutches. The end of life is not the last chapter of ones saga. For the blood, both fair and foul travels in the adventure that continues until finally Cetanu claims his due.
The worthy you hunt, their flesh that you will consume should you past the rites of Cetanu shall be your offering to his great work, the destiny of all.
With his knees still pressed into the bare ground, Inar-Tar RuOs contemplated the statements of his mentor as he stared silently at the polished black surface of the altar before him. His countenance reflected dully in on the oiled surface, the dance of shadow and light from nearby braziers played upon his features while his mandibles clicked.
Reaching his right hand to his bare forehead, he felt the indentation burnt into his flesh from the pressed stump of a serpents severed finger. The sign of his blooding. With the same hand he reached down and pressed upon his right breast where four diagonal cauterized claw marks had split his skin.
It was the wound that arose when the serpent cleaved his armour before he impaled it with his spear into its chest followed by wrist blades thrust into the underside of its jaw. He had barely survived where the pack mates chosen for the blooding had perished for the serpents destroyed all who lacked strength and cunning.
Slowly rising to his feet, Inar-Tar RuOs regarded the small idol of Cetanu that rested on the darkened altar, pledging wordlessly that he who was not the most formidable of hunters would now work to right the failings of his ancestors.
His uncles had all turned out to be bad bloods while his father was not a truly notable hunter. He personally was not blessed with great physical stature or skill. Yet now there was the chance that with determined work in the hunts, he might gain glory and be rid of the ills of his paternal blood.
It was to succeed and come before Cetanu and have his descendants speak well of him, or fail and be forgotten by the living when he met Cetanu. Regardless, all that live were to perish; it is only in their way of life that they prove themselves worthy of elevation or otherwise.
Turning away from the altar once his gestures of prayer were concluded, Inar-Tar RuOs strode out of the small temple, seeking out his hunting gear. His next hunt would commence soon, his mentor had deemed that he would become a true initiate of Cetanu now that the blooding was complete. Should he survive the journey to the distant shrine and claim a trophy of the beasts that inhabit the area around it, he would at least honour his maternal lineage.
Mandibles clicked once more as Inar-Tar RuOs secured his biomask onto his face. For a moment he paused, watching a holographic image that appeared from his left wrist display. It illustrated the star maps of worlds several systems away, where the race that called itself humanity had made several colonies upon. Perhaps if he survived the final trial of Cetanu, he would pay them a visit for they were said to be prime material to hunt.
Perhaps their souls, unlike those of the serpents would be worthy tribute to Cetanu, if not their skulls...

Inhuman screeches were punctuated with gunfire in addition to the shouts of men and women as the night landscape was illuminated by the dance of survival. Inar-Tar RuOs watched from a short distance away on an elevated perch, watching as the human soldiers who had been pushed into corner and fought only to live. He sought the most valiant or at the least, most lethal of the humans among them, the one that fell the most of the serpents.
Human speech was not yet something Inar-Tar RuOs had learnt and he cared not to comprehend their incessant hollers, all he did was examine the functions of their mechanical weapons via the functions of his bio-mask.
Expectedly the gunfire ceased as the serpents dispersed after losing enough of their number and Inar-Tar RuOs bounded from rocky outcrop to rocky outcrop to discern who had survived. Of the nine that had got into the engagement, only three remained. The Yaujta found his prey in the one soldier that wielded a long firearm attached to his waist that was only used with both hands, for he had slew the most and remained untouched. Of his remaining companions, one was burnt with the blood of the serpents and laid down in pain while the other tended to him.
The hunter descended with a loud thump onto the ground twenty paces away from his selected prey, revealing his form as the soldier whipped his long weapon around, freezing briefly as he saw the unknown creature before he pulled the trigger and spurted flame. Inar-Tar RuOs had unsheathed his combi-stick and was midway into a throw as the first shell struck his breastplate and exploded while several more impacted his shoulder and one found its way into his lower abdomen. Yet the combi stick sailed through the air all the same, albeit with distorted aim.
The prey screamed as the shaft dug far into its shoulder with a deep crunch of bone, forcing him to lose his grip on his weapon as Inar-Tar RuOs roared while charging forth. Long wrist blades were extended from his right gauntlet whilst a harpoon was now in his left hand. It was at this moment where the soldiers combat able companion started firing with their weapon, some sort of device which sprayed metal pellets at high velocity. Inar-Tar RuOs ignored the pain of caused the metal bits that got into the gaps of his armour while launching the harpoon at the foolish assailant. It found its mark in the humans hip and drove his bulk into the ground, rendering them unable to continue disrupting the hunt.
Finally, the hunter was in arms reach just as the soldier drew his side arm, a quick flurry of the Yautja wrist blade relieved him of his limb whilst Inar-Tar RuOs grabbed him by the throat with his left hand and reached to extract the comb-stick from the preys shoulder. Sheathing his weapon as soon as it was free of the humans body, the Yautja brought the quivering humans face up for viewing and drove the wrist blade underneath the soldiers armour plate into his innards.
Still ignoring the cries of the soldiers surviving companions, the hunter turned and strode swiftly away, dragging the still gurgling prize behind him with one hand.
Describe how your Yautja acts, and how you intend to play them Inar-Tar RuOs is fundamentally a cautious Yautja, perhaps more so than most Yautja to temper what he believes to be the failings of his ancestry. He will spend time observing his potential prey, to discern which among them is among the more lethal and thus more worthy to hunt as opposed prey that may turn out to be erratic or displeasing. The actions of the potential prey shall prove its quality.
Part of Inar-Tar RuOss caution stems from being far from the best of hunters and will have to rely more on careful preparation or study of the situation on the ground to be able to achieve the aim of the hunt. Thus, there will be some flexibility to what he does.
Furthermore Inar-Tar RuOs is a follower of Cetanu and believes the honoured ancestors of his lineage should be emulated whereas the failings of dishonourable ancestors should be righted where possible.
Inar-Tar RuOs will act as a sort of warrior-priest to Cetanu, aiming to deliver only worthy deeds, trophies and souls to his patron deity, so that perhaps he may one day be an honoured ancestor. His offerings to Cetanu take the form of the consumption to of some of the remains of worthy prey if its edible, that their soul may be given to Cetanu to ground into the matter of its work.
My intent is to play Inar-Tar RuOs as the patient hunter, patient to a point as it has to restrain its more wrathful compulsions or end up being reckless. He will reveal himself before assailing worthy prey, possibly showing mercy to those that have proven to be a good sport. For targets that are observably more intelligent, some degree of psychological pressure or mind games can be introduced to generate more roleplay where possible.
For combat style specifically, it would centre mostly on the use of the combistic and harpoons for ranged skirmishes with worthy prey. (Primarily to account for Byond frequently crashing during CQC). For edible prey, the humans in particular the hunter will take some portion of the butchered remains for the purposes of RP consumption as an offering to his deity beyond just trophy taking.
In your own words, describe the difference between an honor duel and a hunt An honour duel is when a Yaujta deems a particularly valuable prey to be suitable for a sacred one on one bout to the death, unless one party shows mercy to the other. Only melee weapons may be used and it must be fair for both parties.
The hunter may provide a weapon to the challenged prey if need be. Should the challenged be victorious over the Yaujta, they are to be rewarded and deemed equal to the Yautja.
A hunt is an activity conducted by one or more Yaujta for sport, where they choose sufficiently dangerous targets to kill with the intent of obtaining trophies and improving their personal skill. The targets of the hunt must fit, able to defend themselves and kill the hunter.
How do you intend on interacting with other predators during a round? Inar-Tar RuOs is largely an even tempered Yautja and as such will attempt to be amicable with other hunters be, they junior, equal or senior to him. He pays deference to elder and veteran blooded Yautja purely as a matter of course for their skill at arms, for he sees himself as lacking in that.
As such he will try to learn from those he knows or believes to be more capable in the hunt, to redress any shortcoming on his part. Should a junior request his aid, he will assist only to ensure they have an opportunity to learn and grow.
He does not interfere with the activities of other hunters as far as possible, unless it serves to become a potential problem to more than just the sole Yautja involved. Their deeds, good or ill he will speak to Cetanu as part of his religious practice.
All in all, I believe this keeps Inar-Tar as a more communicative Yautja and makes for more roleplay opportunity where applicable. He will initially be played as a newly blooded so I may learn the ropes as well.
Why do you want a predator whitelist? Originally, I just thought they were some sort of gimmick that were just solo antagonists that purely served to target solo players. However, I soon learnt it was something a little different from just that.
The predator whitelist seems open up a broader avenue of RP which is not possible either with the Marines or Xenomorph. Recently I had been in games where the involvement of Predators improved the experience for all involved or watching, it was made far more interesting and exciting compared to the usual grind of either attempting to just kill or capture.
Predators represent a certain factor of uncertainty. That uncertainty in their demeanour and actions can add great spice to those that encounter them.
Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or disobey the Predator Code of Honor? Yes
