Most of the time I put my ammo belts and pouches in last-stored-item mode and reload normally. I only do tactical reloads when I'm using a scoped gun like a sniper rifle.
If you wanna be really specific, I reload my shotgun after almost every shot

i die before i get to reload

with my character's hands

I don't, since I only carry milk and cutlets on deployment, I have a dream, that one day, I will be able to make peace with a beno by offering milk and cutlets

My typical reloading procedure consists of firing as much lead as M41-ly possible, untill i`m out of mags, then grab my binos, grab some outdoor cords and yell them at command.
Whenever i get an OB or a crate full of supplies that was meant for Alpha, i dunno, its a gamble.

Questions like this make me realize how much I missed by going straight medic.
I can bring a guy back from 500+ damage no problem.. but i have no idea how to reload a gun missing a hand.

I don't even know how you reload in this game, I've only played it once and I was a Xeno that time.

use the unload macro and optionally quick draw pouches. It's definitely faster. You could do a chained macro also to have it eject your mag and switch to the other hand automatically. See the macro section on the wiki and scroll to the bottom for links to more in depth guides.
