faxes aren't the backbone of the role, CLs can do things with other people on the ship or the captain - they can even deploy if they want to and look around or help the researcher with his testing/be involved with it in one way or another. Since the inclusion of the briefcase I have yet to find myself just waiting on a fax response as CL because they now have the ability to make their own fun to a degree

They should actually get faxes, and in my experience, following the paperwork guide gets me responses...now and then? last month i put in 40 hours a week of CM, and about twice a week i got a fax reply, due to using the proper formatting.. and im CL banned. so all this was auxiliary stuff.
