Common Staff Situations
A player randomly shoots someone at round start and MPs have detained him. Investigate and warn them for shooting for no reason unless it was an accident and rest of the punishment would be IC issue.
A player ahelps that a predator has violated the honor code when killing him, what should you do? Investigate what has occurred, and talk to the predator on reasoning for their action. I am not quite sure on if I can mess with whitelists.
You see a player walking around the ship naked and clearly lost at roundstart. Message them if they require help, and try to get a mentor to help them. If none are available, I would give them some pointer on how to get started.
A player is being very rude to you in adminhelps, calling you names and arguing everything you say. He is requesting to speak to an Admin+ staff member. Ask them to stop being rude to staff, and if they have complaint against me, tell them to make a report rather then just insulting me.
A player ahelps that a marine is named 'John Doe', how do you deal with this? I would tell them to change their name to something that is not based on well known character or person, or name that is based on the lore.
You see a Maintenance Tech running around in armor and carrying a rifle. The security level is green and there has been no threat to the ship in the round at this point. This is more of a IC issue rather then a OOC issue. I would let the Command staff and MP department to handle this.
A Marine ahelps that they were killed by a survivor. It is early round, the Marines have just landed, and the survivor claims that they were outright hostile to all Marines from the get-go and openly stated their intentions. How do you deal with this? Check with the survivor to see if they gave valid reason to start off as hostile against USCM, and if they did not have good reason to be openly hostile, warn them. I would also inform the marine that survivor can be hostile to USCM given the right reasoning.
You receive an ahelp from a player stating that an MP has locked them up in permanent confinement for running into Requisitions and taking an attachment that was laying around. Check with the MP for their decision to Perma the marine. If the reasoning is valid, I would tell the marines for the precise reason for their perma, and if it is invalid, I would tell the MP to release the marine, and leave a note on his key.
The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the ship, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other? I would queen mother inform the hive that they must attack the hosts to grow as soon as possible, and tell command staff to try to urge the marines to push.
You are playing as a medic, and another medic overdoses all your patients and prevent marines from being revived. It seems like it may be on purpose. How do you deal with this situation? I should not be handling a case where I am directly involved. I would make a ahelp or try to get another staff to handle the case.
The round ends, a Marine starts shooting a hostile CLF member and the CLF member ahelps about being killed after the round ended. Marine and CLF are naturally hostile so it is not EORG. I would tell them this.
A Marine is running around disarming, punching and stealing gear at round start. You receive an ahelp from one of the victims. I would investigate and tell the marine to stop immediately. I would explain the rule regarding not being a dick and make a warn/leave a note depending on the case.
You receive an ahelp from a Marine saying that he was killed by another Marine. When you ask the murderer why, he said it was because the other Marine had punched him. Warn the shooter that they need to follow proper escalation retaliation , and revive the dead marine.
You find out that there is an improper mutiny occuring. The mutineers are rallying together and preparing to storm the CIC. How would you attempt to resolve this situation? Tell the instigators that their mutiny is invalid and that they should stop, and if there are too many people to tell individually, tell them in OOC to stop or change their mutiny to be valid.
There are minor racist comments going on IC. 9 of the 10 people are laughing and RPing but one player gets offended and Adminhelps about it. Ask them why they feel offended, and I would tell the group to stop the racist comments.
A marine opens fire at round start in briefing killing multiple marines and instantly logs off. I would investigate what has occurred, and if it indeed is a mass shooting, I would aheal the dead/injured marines. I would also ban the player for mass griefing for a week.
You see a player playing a Xeno larva/chestburster run towards the frontlines straight from the Xeno hive the second they burst and die. Ask for the reason they did so and warn them for wasting precious larva spawn for xeno.
You see a Xeno memeing, saying AYYLMAO, REEEEEE etc in hivemind chat, as well as insulting the Queen. If it becomes an issue or queen wants them to stop, talk to them and if they refuse, warn them.
A Xeno player calls the shuttle a "dropship". A different Xeno player ahelps that it's low role play to call it a "dropship". Talk to the first xeno player about the terminology xenos use and let them off.
A Command staff player at briefing near round-start mentions there are aliens on the planet. You receive an ahelp from a marine regarding this. Tell the command staff that the USCM does not know what is happening on the operation zone since this is their first contact with xenos
You find a Marine killing another Marine on the EVAC Pod to take the last spot and claims it was RP as he was saving himself. There are two other marines in the pod along with him. It depends on the situation. I would talk to the 2 bystander marines on their opinion and check the way the situation played out. I especially check the way the situation escalated to make sure the actions of the all parties involved were in RP and would make sense.
A player insults you after you warn them for a minor issue and begins ranting in LOOC or dchat about staff and mentions you specifically, referring to you as an 'idiot' and a 'retard'. Warn them to stop and if they refuse, temp ban them.
A player ahelps saying he was hugged by a Xeno when he was ssd, and wants the larva be removed from him via admin powers. How do you handle the ahelp? Unfortunately, there can't be anything done to the human since they should have seeked safety if they had to SSD. But I would check
You see a fellow staff member give wrong information in an Adminhelp or incorrectly enforce a rule. I would tell the staff member what they did wrong, and I would talk to the ahelp in question to fix the misunderstanding
Two staff are arguing in msay if an ahelp is breaking a rule. Because the staff who took the ahelp thinks the player broke a rule, they ban the player based on their interpretation of the rules, with others thinking the person was fine. What would you do? If I am not in a position to intervene, I would contact higher staff members to control the situation.
Why would you like to become a moderator? I saw the message at the round start, and I thought that I could help out the community that I have played in for a long time. Also I would love to host events in the future if possible. I host Don't Starve Together and other gaming sessions with a community I play in, and I love to host events during that kind of games.
In your opinion, what is the most important quality for a moderator? To ensure that everyone have fun and the ensure the rules are being followed.
Anything else you I am rather new when it comes to rules regarding Predator, but I am decently experienced when it comes to general knowledge of the game.
