Make a list of links to all of your applications and (job)ban appeals, including whitelist and staff apps, within the last year. Also, provide "Ban reason; Verdict" beside each (job)ban link
Have you received any ban within the last month? How long was it and what for? No
Do you understand that any player - even donors or staff members - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our Server Rules or Roleplay Guidelines? Yes
How do you view the tool of Battlefield Execution to be used? What circumstances do you think it would be necessary to BE a member of the crew? Where do you think the Battlefield Execution Mechanic Differs from regular Execution and why? The battlefield execution should only be used as a last resort, in situations where the MPs cannot handle them, or in situations where the troublesome person in question is proving to be an immediate threat to myself and my subordinates. While I understand the importance of being in charge, I want to also ensure that people understand the authority that my subordinates also have.
How will your Commanding Officer run his/her ship? Provide a detailed explanation on how he would handle situations that might commonly occur such as, a insubordinate Req, Engineering, MP, or Command Staff As the highest ranking member of the ship, I intent do play the role with a focus on ensuring the players around me are as involved as possible. With the CIC, I want to delegate as much as I can to my subordinates in order to give them things to do, while also interacting with the XO and Liaison (and other on-ship crew) with the time I have between situations.
If and when possible, I would like to see my second in command run my operations in order to give them the opportunity to practice being in command, but will step in when necessary.
Personally I believe that while the captain is officially the person in charge on board the ship, the CO and XO should act as essentially two halves of the same person, and if the XO player at the time is capable of doing so, I will treat them as my equal when playing in the round.
Planetside, I'd like to break up the standard a little by proposing potentially odd set-ups where possible, with the intention of making the round fun and different from the usual strategies.
What do you think is the job of a Commander? While being a figurehead to the marines, the CO has the opportunity to be a fairly OOC focused role, with the intent on leading rounds into fun situations that can be enjoyed by the rest of the marines. With the goal of including everyone, there are plenty of opportunities to shake up the game by trying new things out. While many people may believe we are a competitive game, I do not play to win, and instead play to enjoy the round, and want to see others enjoy them too.
As a player what do you think could be added for Commanding Officer to benefit the role? I want to give the CO further opportunities for setting up the playing field in different ways, and as a developer I have been working on removing the reliance on having a forced LZ1 (or LZ2 on Trijent) deployment due to telecomms or other tactical resources (See: implementing constructible telecomms towers, adding multi-LZ landing and deployable LZ beacons). I find this important as it allows the CO to make more unique decisions during the set-up of the round.
What do you think you could contribute by being whitelisted? I'd like to shake up the standard situations as explained above, by setting up the early-game in different ways, such as unique FOB spots and potentially risky maneuvers. Of course I'm aware that the marines may not always listen to this, so I don't plan on forcing people if they can't bring the majority to do so.
Your story (potential topics listed below) TIENTSIN CAMPAIGN, AUGUST 3RD, 2165, USS INHERITOR HIGH-ALTITUDE ORBIT ABOVE UC-723.
Sirens are blaring, the sensors console glows red as the CIC emergency lights bounce around the room. I wipe the sweat off my brow, my eyes trained on the blips scattered accross the 3D rendering of the battlefied.
"Bring us around for a broadside sweep, the Typhoon wants us to move in for a combined pincer."
We're outnumbered, but with some luck, we might be able to pull this off. Captain Harris is hunched over the tactical map, seemingly keeping his cool. But you can see the sweat on his forehead.
"Lieutenant Hudson-"
I look up.
"I want your eyes trained over our sister vessel. Understood?"
I nod, "Sir."
At this point the groundside team has been informed of the contacts, but calling them back would be a guaranteed death sentence at the hands of the UPP ships' flak cannons.
"Typhoon's moving in now, sir, we're in formation."
Between the intermittent red alert alarm rings, there's seemingly a moment of complete silence within the CIC. I try to focus on it, but it's all gone just as soon as it had arrived.
I look back down at the sensors, "Thirty seconds until contact.. They're coming at us in Vee, sir-"
The CIC shudders, I lurch forward in my seat, slamming against the console. Sparks are flying out of the surrounding consoles. Something's overloaded the ship systems.
"We're hit! Rear thrusters are disabled-" Lieutenant Miller starts yelling. He's sitting accross from me by the structural warning lights.
"-Fires in aft sections twelve and thirteen, sir!"
Back down to the console. There's new blips.
"Hostile contacts two clicks starboard-side, bearing one-fourty! They weren't there ten seconds ago-"
I turn around to look at Miller, who's looking at the captain.
"We're dead in the water, sir!"
"Hudson, find out what the Typhoon's doing. Someone get them on the line and tell them to turn around!"
Looking down again, I see the Typhoon heading straight for the enemy formation, alone.
"They're still moving sir- contact in five.."
Another shudder, we've been hit again.
"Hit along sections eight to ten! They're trying to hit our comms array!"
"Let's hope the point defence does its damn job."
Captain Harris is shouting now. If the marines aren't called up now they won't be coming home. Comms are trying to pick up the Typhoon to warn them of our situation, but the sensors are showing that they're still heading for..
I look down. The Typhoon's not on sensors.
"Typhoon's off the radar, sir! They're gone!" I yell. That can only mean two things, they've either left us behind with an emergency jump, or they've been blown sky high. Neither option means anything good for us.
"Thrusters aren't responding, and the fire in section twelve's spread to aft section eleven, sir- we've got reported casualties.." Miller is now panicking. A year and a half on this ship and this is the first time I've seen Miller panic.
We're hit again. Another overload, consoles are sparking and electrical smoke is filling the room. I look at the Captain.
"..Alright. Activate the pods! We're stuck between a rock and a hard place, and the rest of our formation's ten minutes away. This is a lost cause, ladies and gentlemen!"
I turn to Harris for confirmation, but he's slumped over his station, unconcious. Blood's leaking out of his head.
"Hudson."
I look towards Captain Harris, but he's looking the other way. The sirens are ringing louder and louder..
"Hudson!"
I blink and look up. The ringing's stopped. I'm in an office.
"Commander, are you with me?"
"I- yes sir, pardon me."
"And you agree with me, don't you? The service you've done for our fleet's been extensive over the past few years."
Rear Admiral Vincenzi sits accross from me. His hair's greyed with age, or maybe it's stress.
PRESENT DAY, USP LAGOON ORBITAL DRYDOCK, HIGH-ALTITUDE ORBIT AROUND EARTH.
"Completely, admiral. I've done my best to keep the show running throughout my service-"
"Exactly, commander, and that's why I want you as one of my captains."
"I would be honored to, sir.."
"That's what I wanted to hear, Captain."
Vincenzi hands me a black case, and I open it to find my new rank boards.
"You'll be given your own ship, among the fourth brigade-"
My heart stops.
"..The Falling Falcons, sir?"
"That's right, Captain."
The Falling Falcons. Possibly the lowest of the low in terms of career prospects. Getting assigned to the Falling Falcons could only mean one thing, Vincenzi hates my guts, and wants me out of his patchy, grey hair.
The admiral presses on his intercomm, leaning into it.
"Bring him in."
The door slides open, and someone I've never met in my life steps into the office. He holds out his hand.
"A pleasure to meet you, captain, I'm commander-"
"I've taken the liberties of assigning you an XO in preparation for your re-assignment. We've got an assignment for your battalion coming up and there's no time to get picky with selecting your crew." the admiral smiles.
Fucking great.
"Captain, I'm going to-"
I turn to Admiral Vincenzi.
"The ship?"
"USS Almayer. She's fairly rusty, and has yet to prove her name. I've got high hopes for you, Captain."
Absolutely fucking brilliant.
"Right. Commander, we'll speak on the ship. Let's go." I say, not even knowing his name.
"..Yes ma'am."
Fuck.
