Common Staff Situations
A player randomly shoots someone at round start and MPs have detained him. I would start to investigate the situation as he might be either new or worst griefer.
I would start by making contact and pulling the notes. Once i made contact in case he has no idea how to respond i would tell him how in a message. I would check if it was a accident and take a statement from the person that got shoot.
If he has no notes and said he is new or was a accident i would just tell him to be more careful and give a warning and add a note.
If he has notes about this behavior i would give him another note and a ban accordingly to the the notes number.
A player ahelps that a predator has violated the honor code when killing him, what should you do? I would try to get a witness statement from both the predator and player. I would inform the accusing player to go to forums and guide him to were to make a report about the predator.
I would also notify the player not to make the report before round end.
Honor code breaking is a whitelist issue and is up to council and whitelist manager to deal with the incident.
You see a player walking around the ship naked and clearly lost at roundstart. I would message him and ask if he needed any help, as well as how to respond to my message. Should he respond i would guide him to the prep room/area onboard for his chosen role.
I would then link the quickstart guide and his role's guide. In case he has no idea how to respond my ahelp i would tell him how to.
A player is being very rude to you in adminhelps, calling you names and arguing everything you say. He is requesting to speak to an Admin+ staff member. I would tell him that he has to deal with me and link the forum were he can make a report about me. If he continues then a mute and a note. If he doesn't stop i would just add another note and give a 3 hour ban to chill out.
A player ahelps that a marine is named 'John Doe', how do you deal with this? I do not know all names but i would usually google search. This name falls under the naming rule.
Before contact i would check if he has notes or warning about this violation.
If he doesn't have i would tell him what is wrong with his name and tell him to change it and give a warning and a note. I would ask him for a name he prefers so i can change it and tell him he has to change his name. If he doesn't know how i would tell him how to.
If he has notes about this violation i would give him another note and a ban accordingly to his notes.
You see a Maintenance Tech running around in armor and carrying a rifle. The security level is green and there has been no threat to the ship in the round at this point. This is a pure ic issue.
But if he has notes about this i would contact him and tell him to stop with the shit.
If he start shooting people and has notes then a ban.
A Marine ahelps that they were killed by a survivor. It is early round, the Marines have just landed, and the survivor claims that they were outright hostile to all Marines from the get-go and openly stated their intentions. How do you deal with this? I would PM the accused and accuser as well as witnesses for details while logg diving to see if the player was openly hostile as he said and didn't wordlessly come up and gun down the marine.
If the survivor showed he was hostile then a ic issue. But if he was not then i would check the notes.
Depending of the notes a job and regular ban would work.
You receive an ahelp from a player stating that an MP has locked them up in permanent confinement for running into Requisitions and taking an attachment that was laying around. I would check with the MP as well as the accused. If proven the MP was in the wrong I would tell him to apply the correct timer minus the time the prisoner had already been in for, as well as noting the MP for breaking Marine Law.
If the MP is new then i would explain him and link the marine law. I would tell him the proper time or set it myself.
The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the ship, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other? I would use the Queen Mother to push the Xenos to attack.
I would fax the commander too that High Command wants them to finish this once and for all.
You are playing as a medic, and another medic overdoses all your patients and prevent marines from being revived. It seems like it may be on purpose. How do you deal with this situation? I would tell another staff member as i am directly involved.
If no staff member i would call on discord.
If not on discord too i will deal with it myself by getting statements from witnesses, check logs and find out if new or griefer.
If new a link to the guide and if griefer then a ban.
The round ends, a Marine starts shooting a hostile CLF member and the CLF member ahelps about being killed after the round ended. I would tell the CLF he's a hostile and leave it as an IC Issue. It would not fall under EORG either as it's two hostiles and no FF loggs get made.
A Marine is running around disarming, punching and stealing gear at round start. You receive an ahelp from one of the victims. This is would be a IC issue if it is not extremely.
If it would be extremely sever like breaking the flow of the round i would check his notes and contact him. If he has notes then i would give him a ban and a note. If he doesn't have then i would tell him CUT THE SHIT and a note.
You receive an ahelp from a Marine saying that he was killed by another Marine. When you ask the murderer why, he said it was because the other Marine had punched him. I would pm both the people involved as well as anyone nearby who was able to see it to gather information, as well as check the loggs if it was true as they say.
If it wasn't punch>knife>gun them i would give the killer a note and a ban.
You find out that there is an improper mutiny occuring. The mutineers are rallying together and preparing to storm the CIC. How would you attempt to resolve this situation? I would probably require the assistance of another staff member to handle the situation, but if i were alone i would start by sending a few LOOC messages or a Marine sided OOC message that the mutiny is invalid.
If they do not stop i would add a note and a ban to those that keep doing the mutiny. I would try to sleep the individuals and speak with them.
There are minor racist comments going on IC. 9 of the 10 people are laughing and RPing but one player gets offended and Adminhelps about it. As long as the comments are IC, and not spam or over the top, it is an IC issue.
I would notify the offended player about this.
A marine opens fire at round start in briefing killing multiple marines and instantly logs off. This is griefing.
I would check if he has any notes. If he doesn't have then a 7 days ban and if he has a perma filling.
You see a player playing a Xeno larva/chestburster run towards the frontlines straight from the Xeno hive the second they burst and die. I would pm and remind him he should not be close to frontlines as larva. If he stops before Frontlines i see no issue.
If he continues forward and enters the frontlines and "Combat Larvae" I would PM him to get back and warn him about it. He would be noted as well as risking a Xeno Job ban/regular ban if he had more xeno or recent notes.
You see a Xeno memeing, saying AYYLMAO, REEEEEE etc in hivemind chat, as well as insulting the Queen. This would fall under the Low RP rule, as CM is supposed to be a medium role play server.
I would PM the larva and request him to stop while checking his notes, if it was a first occurrence a note for future reference as well as a warning would be in order.
If he has notes about this low rp as xeno a job ban would work and a normal one.
A Xeno player calls the shuttle a "dropship". A different Xeno player ahelps that it's low role play to call it a "dropship". Its an IC issue. The hivemind is a direct translation in English so any words are viable.
A Command staff player at briefing near round-start mentions there are aliens on the planet. You receive an ahelp from a marine regarding this. This would fall under the meta ruling that your character doesn't know this as of yet.
I would PM the offender about it and tell him to stop while checking the notes and see if he had previous meta notes or anything akin to the situation, a first time offense would be a warning and a note, while more would be a ban.
You find a Marine killing another Marine on the EVAC Pod to take the last spot and claims it was RP as he was saving himself. There are two other marines in the pod along with him. If the shooter did a very good RP this would fall under IC issue. But if he just came and pb the guy with no RP reason i would give a note and a 3 hour ban to the player.
In any case i would investigate this by getting from all 4 marines statements so i can make sure no one is lying.
A player insults you after you warn them for a minor issue and begins ranting in LOOC or dchat about staff and mentions you specifically, referring to you as an 'idiot' and a 'retard'. The player can just feed me salt all day as i played enough games with salty players so i could just care less.
But still insulting staff in OOC or ahelp is not allowed. So i would first tell him to cut the shit then give him a warning and a note. If he continues another warning with a mute and if he doesn't stop a ban so that he can chill out. Staff are not people getting payed from this, they are just players that want to make sure all enjoy this game. So most of them do not need to take the shit for a salty player.
A player ahelps saying he was hugged by a Xeno when he was ssd, and wants the larva be removed from him via admin powers. How do you handle the ahelp? IC issue, Falling SSD happens to both xenos and marines so it might suck but it is a part of the game.
I would just inform in a peaceful way that all is a ic issue.
You see a fellow staff member give wrong information in an Adminhelp or incorrectly enforce a rule. If it is just a mistake i would inform that staff member that it should be so or "Wasn't always like that?". If i missed a fact or log that they did not or a rule 0 i would just leave it.
If i believe its incorrect still i would try to get some proof discreetly and show it to the higher ups.
If it is malicious i would try to quickly contact a higher up about this.
Two staff are arguing in msay if an ahelp is breaking a rule. Because the staff who took the ahelp thinks the player broke a rule, they ban the player based on their interpretation of the rules, with others thinking the person was fine. What would you do? If i believe that the action was right, i would just leave it. If wrong is still not me to decide if i am not a senior or anything higher.
If it was purely wrong i would just take it private to higher up.
