BackstoryBorn in 2519 to a family of four children, she had a quiet and sheltered childhood in the small, agricultural town of Barnstaple. From her early teenager years, she aspired to be a simple baker, despite her parents holding doctorates in engineering and medicine, and her brothers all attending university at the time as well.
Her plans started to change during high school. The more she watched the news, the more concerned she grew about all the colonies going dark in the outer skirts of UA space. While she had no connections to those people whatsoever, she could not fathom the idea of the same happening to her own planet and family. The urge to help the restoration of those places grew stronger by each passing year but she could not make up her mind on how to actually do so. Her biggest issue was her fear of space and spacetravel as she was but a kid who had never done any EVA before.
After graduating from high school, she gained a qualification in critical care nursing, and worked at a local hospital for four years. She kept baking as a hobby and a sidejob, not completely giving up on it but not pursuing her childhood dream anymore. Around this time she met a young man and moved in with him; however, one day he packed up and left her without a word, never contacting her ever again.
At the age of twenty-four, she saw an interview with a USCM official about how they struggled with recruitment. His propaganda of helping the exact people she always wanted to sold her on the idea, and after a few months she enlisted as a medic. Despite her prior experience, she went through the training and got assigned to a carrier vessel. To much of her gripe, it was stationed in the inner solar system, doing nothing resembling her original goals. After she spent a year there and requested her reassignment about six or seven times, she was finally moved to the 2nd battalion of the 4th brigade and to the USS Almayer.
During her very first months she realized that her naive dreams about helping the people in need out there was something only a very few shared. The violent incident reports about the UPP, CLF and other, smaller factions became her reality. While she had never agreed with their methods, there was not a single case she was not reluctant to pull a trigger at them. These missions often kept her wide awake at night, and as her performance dropped, she was prescribed medicine against insomnia and anxiety.
Despite all of this, she was never, and she firmly believes that she would never be fine with the indifference that many of her peers and superiors display. While she obediently follows orders, she still clutches at straws to make the best out of her limited time: to make sure everyone gets home both from her batallion and those who lost theirs.
