Research/ETA Labs or Lambda Labs - Which one is better for a hive, and why?

Solaris Ridge - Both seem to have their weaknesses and their strengths which makes it hard to decide which one to make a hive in. Which one do you think is better, and why?

Neither, the southeast caves are the best spot cause you can retreat either direction instead of being trapped. Lambda is trash though so ETA is better if thats the only option.

Southeast caves are terrible. There is no natural cover or tight spaces that you can stall with; once the resin walls are shot down it's a large and open kill zone. At least ETA Labs and Lambda have tight little halls where you can neuro and then drag to fuck marines up.

Both ETA and Lambda have good retreat options. Lambda is good for boilers and crushers, ETA is just good in general

Lambda is better because the logistics for supporting a marine push into lambda are harder. You can get to Eta from the LZs while largely remaining inside buildings. The route can be lit up easily securing the route is not too difficult and even without being secured a lone marine is a lot harder to ambush on the trip from the LZ to Eta. The position from which Eta assaults are launched is also harder to flank and cut off and only has one real open direction it can be attacked from.

Meanwhile, the route to lambda is huge and open but has enough corners, turns, and alcoves to duck into that it doesn't provide great firing lines for the marines. This means that lighting it fully is difficult and time consuming, it can be flanked easily from multiple directions both of which require massive amounts of materials and manpower to secure. Unlike the LV river crossing, however, there's plenty of cover and buildings to duck in and out of, which means that the open space serves only to provide more freedom of movement to the xenos. Lurkers have free reign to hit the marine backlines and stragglers and wounded can be picked off without effort.

as a marine main I will have to say both suck and just rush virology instead and setup there. But I actually do prefer Lambda as crushers are pretty powerful there.

Both are really painful since Marines expect you to be there. If I had to pick, NE lambda w/ burrower or SE caves without burrower. Viro is still a great option if xenos can be stealthy.

Never really thought about that before thats a good point. I still think lambda is death trap if your team is trash but you are gonna die anyways if your team is trash.
