Description of the incident: Essentially what went down was a bunch of people got called in as an ERT for dutch's dozen and were given the task of just hunting the predators and killing them. We went down with the XO who supported our efforts, in fact telling us where the hunters were as they had been killing multiple marines. Also, when we arrived near hydro where they were, marines were already in a firefight with them.
We joined and we fought and took losses and had to keep going back and forth. Suddenly at one point I was walking through hydro alone with no predators near me and I was hit by an incendiary sniper round at random. I proceeded to roll on the ground to try to put myself out after running close enough to the FOB on hydro road where the other marines could see me. During this moment a predator took the opportunity to leap on me and try to kill me, which marines in the FOB jumped out and saved me. Taking me back into the FOB and reviving me. As I was being revived the bravo spec came to my body and tried to steal my minigun which I had been using to solely kill predators, and other marines quickly stopped him from doing then he just wandered off.
I ignored the whole situation as I know we were literally told OOCly that we are allied to the USCM and are to only focus on the predators and ONLY to attack xenos if they attacked us. I also thought it was just an honest mistake because sniper IFF didn't apply to us and mistakes happen in-game, but at the same time I was sniped when there were no predators around me so I was wondering about it. Anyway I was revived and I joined another Dutch Dozen in going back to fight the predators. We joined three other marines in fighting three predators so three against five and were doing decently well. Then out of nowhere as the predators are trying to rip us with their claws/spears my fellow dutch dozen is hit with an incendiary sniper round and goes down, dying to the predator shortly after and getting dragged off. Then immediately after I was shot with an incendiary sniper bullet as well and died. I was revived but then died afterwards for the last time while fighting the predators alongside marines.
The Bravo Specialist essentially had been sniping us the dutch dozen off-screen whilst we were mid-fight or alone (a reason why scopes are banned in most HVH because it can be extremely bullshit since you can't even fight back). Also to add, I could have went and killed him for 'revenge'. But I had literally been under the impression that we were working WITH marines and its just a general rule not to shoot people unless they are confirmed hostile by command or HIGHCOM(admins) neither which did such. The predators had killed marines, we watched them kill multiple. Marines were literally fighting by our side and reviving us, and we were pulling their dead back to be revived as well. We were allies, something even the XO had acknowledged. Yet this sniper specialist sniped us to death mid-fight alongside with marines with the reasoning he was 'friends' with the predators. There was no instigation before he even shot us to death. In fact he didn't even admit to it until the end after he'd killed us or we had already died to the predators. No marine could even stop him because he was doing it from off-screen so literally no witnesses and he wouldn't say anything while we were even being revived. He just acted like nothing happened and had no idea.
I think this was border-line griefing and generally being a dick. Multiple other marines had already been fighting the predators, yet this sniper in my opinion saw the chance to do some HVH with a sniper and used it to kill us just to generally be a minge because he had run out of xenos to kill. A mod reasoned this was 'entirely IC' but if he's able to get away with the excuse of 'i'm friendly with them' then I could do the same every time someone shoots a predator and just unload on them because i'm 'friends' with them as well. It sets a bad standard and in fact could ruin future events.
Evidence (screenshots, logs, etc): SGT Atiqtalaaq 'Polar' Waska (follow) stammers, "Oh, I shot th-the Dozen Dead."
How you would punish the accused: He killed two of us from what I can confirm and possibly more from off-screen with his sniper rifle. I think he should honestly receive a ban or a EXTREMELY heavy warning, it should be common knowledge not to shoot confirmed friendlies, especially if they have dragged back your fellow wounded and fought alongside you. To shoot them in the back with a weapon that is already OP in HVH is just plain abuse and being a minge because not even marines could intervene as it was happening off-screen.
