The issue here is that I shot the Dutch's Dozen ERT during their deployment, killing some and interrupting their goal (that being, killing the predators) despite their in-game position as hired mercenaries, in violation of Rule 4: No Griefing (the initial report also accused me of breaking Rule 3, though this is not reflected in the login screen or closing reply).
For greater context without transcribing the events of the round, we noticed heavier-than-normal predator activity. Be it bolder predator players, a higher predator population I was unaware of for the round, or something else, they were a greater factor in this round then they normally tend to be.
I am unsure whether or not they died, cryoed, or were arrested, but my (Bravo) squad's Squad Leader left the round fairly early into it, and I was assigned the Squad Leader and - as Bravo does - tried to keep my Squad in the FOB to build and defend it. As I was the sniper, I guarded long sightlines, which included two marines clearing weeds in the Southeast of Landing Zone 1. One of them triggered a resin hole with a hugger inside, and I managed to shoot it before it infected the marine. Evidently, the predators saw and liked this, complimenting me on my shot (I belive it was discord user Destrok
#0019 seen here: https://discordapp.com/channels/1503...66696959164416). I took this as a sign that we had quality predators. When Nexus was being assaulted, it's South was widely unprotected, though predators frequently either scared-off of challenged Xenos around it, which I could argue as preventing an early retreat. Any marines who DID die were victims of trying to hug, or point-blank the predators. Overall, I saw the predators as a valuable tool we could use an neautral until provoked, and said as much over comms, frequently anouncing "The spooks with masks (I find 'Jamaicans' racist, old-fashioned, and LRP) aren't hostile unless provoked, don't mess with them" and "the spooks are guarding Southern Nexus, don't piss them off!" This was over Squad comms, the command channel, and even locally shouted it at marines taking potshots or talking about killing them.
Overall, I made it very clear that I wasn't "friends" with them, but the Predators weren't overtly hostile, and were helpful if anything. At the same time, I made it clear to my squad that I valued their safety and didn't want them running off to their deaths.
- and then Dutch's Dozen came in.
They charged the predators, which encouraged a lot of marines to do the same, which mean a lot of dead marines. This is when I decided to start firing on the Dozen.
This was not some dumb urge to go and "troll" them, or to cause unnecesarry damage. I read the rules, read the wiki's ERT page, and the Dutch's Dozen page. The key word in rule 4, 14, and the roleplay standards section are "without a good/valid reason". It is evident from the Admin PMs between me and Challad that I was aware that I might have drawn attention with what I was doing, was not ashamed of it or trying to be sneaky, and had five reasons (Complimented by the predators, peaceful conversations with the predators, obseverved respectful duels with the predators, the suicidal actions encouraged by the Dozen, and their less-than-careful aim with high-capacity weapons that hit multiple marines and barely missed me thanks to their lack of accuracy and a wall). Once the predators were wither killed or left, when I pushed the caves with the other marines, I was injured and had a conversation with "Arnold" while being treated ( Evident in the Say Logs from the report: "[01:26:43]SAY: Atiqtalaaq 'Polar' Waska/CallMeArty : Oh, I shot th-the Dozen Dead." I said what I did, gave them my reasons for doing so, and drew my sidearm as they were facing me with their primary wielded. It was very tense, but no shots were fired, and they walked off after we agreed that all the Predators were either dead or gone. They were not shooting me, my marines, or the predators, so I had no reason to fire on them.
As I was aware of there being some less-obvious rules in the game such as the inability to arrest the Captain, xenos not being able to conga even prior to the RP tightening, and XOs not being allowed to cryo without giving a heads-up, I checked the ERT and Dozen's page. I found nothing that would later make a claim such as "Roleplay or not, unless a person has permission from an admin or direction from another staff member, you don't mess with the Dutch Dozen ERT." - obvious. By all means, I reacted the same as if, say, a group of PMCs guarding the CL opened fire on a group of marines for posing a threat, and would have shot them as well.
Additionally, my history should prove that I am not somebody who griefs for the hell of it. In a recent round, I had introduced my friend to CM, and had ahelped to let them know that I would be walking them through the more meanial parts of Medical via discord so as to not tread on rules six or ten. I had specifically chosen medical due to it's minimal chance of "oh help, there's a Lurker clawing at me in Fitness!". I was bwoinked for killing a survivor - I believe a month ago - and explained that it was due to the fact that they were threatening me in Point-Blank distance with a wielded shotgun.
In summary, I did not intend to ruin anyone's fun, to shorten anyone's round or to make all of the time they spent prepping go down the drain. I did not intend to undermine any admin's decisions or events. I was simply playing the game in a way I found interesting, performing actions that I would deem likely, plausible, and of a character with a sound mind and logic. If what I perceived to be valid/good reasons are not adequate in the eyes of staff, than I accept that.
Finally, if they would appreciate it, I am will personally apologize to anybody from The Dozen who's round I impacted if they feel wronged, and I have an account to message.
