    Honestly, that shouldn't be too hard to pull off. A random Marine can go to aSL at the drop of a hat, and immediately get access to the Command Channel, encryption key or not. Doing something similar for redistributed Marines is probably well within the realms of possibility.

    While we're at it, I'm not sure if anything bad would happen if XO would get access to the squad distribution computer. COs go planetside/AWOL like 90% of rounds I XO and I really want to put IOs and SOs in a squad, to track them when they deploy.

    To expand on that AT gun idea, it might make a nice low-pop replacement of the tank if you wanted it to be limited to just one.
    I also demand extremely low number and not as effective as the M5 RPG single shot AT launchers, or maybe just HE. Can't be reloaded, maybe balance it further by making it require either your suit or backpack slot so you get this one relatively powerful item in exchange for a full on main weapon, or atleast space to carry ammunition/utility items.

    And my obligatory gag suggestion is give us a melee specialist with a choice between a sword and board with acid/bone fragment blocking and large amounts of body armor, or an armor piercing two hander weapon like a maul.
