Common Staff Situations
A player randomly shoots someone at round start and MPs have detained him. Give them a warning and let the MPs handle it ICly. If they continue shooting after release, DM them on the situation and issue a ban.
A player ahelps that a predator has violated the honor code when killing him, what should you do? Further investigate, questioning the predator and the reporter, asking how they violated the code, and how serious said violation is.
You see a player walking around the ship naked and clearly lost at roundstart. I DM them, telling them they should read the wiki, while providing a link and redirect them to a mentor if any.
A player is being very rude to you in adminhelps, calling you names and arguing everything you say. He is requesting to speak to an Admin+ staff member. I will simply ignore their insults and ask if any Admins are available because a player has requested so, if none are available or with to do so, i alert them is none and try to handle the situation myself.
A player ahelps that a marine is named 'John Doe', how do you deal with this? Leave it be, John Doe as a name is not against the rules.
You see a Maintenance Tech running around in armor and carrying a rifle. The security level is green and there has been no threat to the ship in the round at this point. I DM the MT and warn them that they should not have armour and a rifle during green alert before telling them to return it.
A Marine ahelps that they were killed by a survivor. It is early round, the Marines have just landed, and the survivor claims that they were outright hostile to all Marines from the get-go and openly stated their intentions. How do you deal with this? Ask the survivor about their actions and remind them that hostile survivors are against server rules, giving them a note, and keeping an eye on them.
You receive an ahelp from a player stating that an MP has locked them up in permanent confinement for running into Requisitions and taking an attachment that was laying around. I warn the MP that what they have done is against SOP and Marine Law, telling them to release the player from confinement and give them a proper sentence appropriate to their crime.
The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the ship, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other? I Queen Mother the hive, telling them that their hive in likely to fail, but they should go out in a fire of glory, taking every tall they can with them.
You are playing as a medic, and another medic overdoses all your patients and prevent marines from being revived. It seems like it may be on purpose. How do you deal with this situation? Since I am currently playing, I will ahelp the situation with their name and allow a moderator who is observing to deal with the situation. If no one else if available i will go to a safe place and DM them to tell them to stop, and if they continue, they will likely get banned.
The round ends, a Marine starts shooting a hostile CLF member and the CLF member ahelps about being killed after the round ended. I reject the ahelp, as the round has ended and the marine and CLF are on different sides. There is no rule break.
A Marine is running around disarming, punching and stealing gear at round start. You receive an ahelp from one of the victims. I wait to see if the situation is handled ICly and if not, i will DM them to warn them not to steal gear and disrupt marines at roundstart.
You receive an ahelp from a Marine saying that he was killed by another Marine. When you ask the murderer why, he said it was because the other Marine had punched him. I tell them that this was improper escalation and they should not shoot another marine in any situation, potentially issuing a ban on combat roles, while reviving the affected marine if medbay is unable to do so in time.
You find out that there is an improper mutiny occuring. The mutineers are rallying together and preparing to storm the CIC. How would you attempt to resolve this situation? I DM the participants to find if there is any supposed "leader" who can justify the mutiny, and if it is justified well enough, leave them be. If there is no real reason for the mutineers to be doing what they are doing, warn those who have not yet shot or killed anyone, while getting those who have actively shot and killed others noted and alerting them that they are participating in an improper mutiny. If it continues I issue bans to those still mutinying.
There are minor racist comments going on IC. 9 of the 10 people are laughing and RPing but one player gets offended and Adminhelps about it. As racism is not against current rules, i tell them this is fine, and is most likely just some simple RP.
A marine opens fire at round start in briefing killing multiple marines and instantly logs off. I immediately revive the affected marines and issue a ban to the offender for greifing and logging off, most likely knowing what they have done.
You see a player playing a Xeno larva/chestburster run towards the frontlines straight from the Xeno hive the second they burst and die. I DM them asking why they did that and tell them not to do so again in the future. If they have done this multiple times I will possible issue a xeno ban.
You see a Xeno memeing, saying AYYLMAO, REEEEEE etc in hivemind chat, as well as insulting the Queen. I DM the Xeno telling them to stop saying things that are LRP in hivemind, and to behave correctly. If they continue i will warn them again and possible give them a short 30 minute ban so it doesnt ruin others RP experience.
A Xeno player calls the shuttle a "dropship". A different Xeno player ahelps that it's low role play to call it a "dropship". I tell this is fine, as hivemind is an english translation of their thoughts.
A Command staff player at briefing near round-start mentions there are aliens on the planet. You receive an ahelp from a marine regarding this. I give a small warning to the command staff, telling them that currently they are not aware of the xeno infestation, and tell them not to after.
You find a Marine killing another Marine on the EVAC Pod to take the last spot and claims it was RP as he was saving himself. There are two other marines in the pod along with him. First, i ask if there was any actual RP for this scenario, deciding whether or not the offenders claim is true. If there was RP leading to this scenario, since the marine who was killed did not ahelp in the first place, but rather me seeing it happen, i ask if the victim is fine with what the offender did. If they are not fine with the offenders actions, I investigate further by asking the other two marines if there was any RP to lead to this scenario. If their actions was the result of RP, i will give a warning not to murder other marines over a pod and leave them be. If there was no RP i give 3 hour ban to the offender for griefing and heal the victim if they were not saved or dragged onto another pod.
A player insults you after you warn them for a minor issue and begins ranting in LOOC or dchat about staff and mentions you specifically, referring to you as an 'idiot' and a 'retard'. i shrug the insults off, i do not exactly care much about them.
A player ahelps saying he was hugged by a Xeno when he was ssd, and wants the larva be removed from him via admin powers. How do you handle the ahelp? I tell the marine that there is nothing I can do about it and end the ahelp.
You see a fellow staff member give wrong information in an Adminhelp or incorrectly enforce a rule. I alert them that have done something incorrectly and tell them what they should have done instead. They can then choose to correct it based of their own decision.
Two staff are arguing in msay if an ahelp is breaking a rule. Because the staff who took the ahelp thinks the player broke a rule, they ban the player based on their interpretation of the rules, with others thinking the person was fine. What would you do? I give my opinion on the matter but leave the final decision to the banning admin, trusting they have made the right decision.
Why would you like to become a moderator? I heard in OOC chat that CM needs more staff during my timezone and decided to apply to help.
In your opinion, what is the most important quality for a moderator? The ability to not get mad and consider their decisions before making them.
Anything else you I will just add that hours im available can be inconsistent at times since this box wasnt very clear on what it wanted.
