    Common Staff Situations

A player randomly shoots someone at round start and MPs have detained him.
Check the logs to see if there was any interaction between them beforehand. If not, propably a missclick. If there was I'd check their notes and investigate further.

A player ahelps that a predator has violated the honor code when killing him, what should you do?
I would inform them that those violations are handled by the Predator Council and explain how to write a player report.

I would also check the logs and maybe PM the pred in question to see what actually happened, since that maybe useful for the council.

You see a player walking around the ship naked and clearly lost at roundstart.
I would PM them and offer some basic help on how to play SS13 in general and explain the basics of CM. After that I would guide them towards the wiki and mentors.

A player is being very rude to you in adminhelps, calling you names and arguing everything you say. He is requesting to speak to an Admin+ staff member.
If the player is simply insulting me and there is nothing else for me to explain or say, I would simply tell them to file a staff report on the forums.

I don't care about people insulting me and players can't cherrypick which staff member to talk to from what I know so...Not much else to do here.

A player ahelps that a marine is named 'John Doe', how do you deal with this?
I would PM the player and inform them that their name doesn't comply with RP standards.

I would also check the notes to see if they have done it before, and maybe their playtime since they might be new. After that I'd just let them choose a new name and change it.

You see a Maintenance Tech running around in armor and carrying a rifle. The security level is green and there has been no threat to the ship in the round at this point.
This is generally an IC issue, although if that player has a history of causing problems shipside, I would possibly observe them to make sure they don't do anything stupid.

A Marine ahelps that they were killed by a survivor. It is early round, the Marines have just landed, and the survivor claims that they were outright hostile to all Marines from the get-go and openly stated their intentions. How do you deal with this?
Hostile survs are not allowed right now, as far as I know.

If they were, I'd check the logs to see if there was any escalation from the survivor, since you have to be openly hostile as far as I know.

Wouldn't hurt to check the notes of both players, PM them too.

Though I've heard investigating survs is a nightmare so I'm not sure about my answer here.

You receive an ahelp from a player stating that an MP has locked them up in permanent confinement for running into Requisitions and taking an attachment that was laying around.
First I would PM everyone involved and any witnesses to try and figure out what actually happened.

I would also check the notes of both players for similar situations.

The crimes listed by the player don't stack up to perma, and assuming they didn't commit any crimes before that, I would inform the MP on what the proper time should be and also about the fact that MPs must follow Marine Law.

The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the ship, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
I would assess the balance between the two first.

If the aliens are delaying with no hope for victory, I would use QM to order them to fight.

And if they have a chance but marines are still in the lead, I would consider SMing whoever is in charge to motivate them.

But honestly I would propably just ask other staff members on what the best solution would be.

You are playing as a medic, and another medic overdoses all your patients and prevent marines from being revived. It seems like it may be on purpose. How do you deal with this situation?
Staff members can't interfere with situations they are personally involved in.

I would assess if they're griefing or simply bald. If they're griefing I would ahelp and let other staff handle it and if they're new, I would try to teach them a bit in character, while helping their patients.

The round ends, a Marine starts shooting a hostile CLF member and the CLF member ahelps about being killed after the round ended.
IC issue since you are allowed to fight hostile factions after round end.

A Marine is running around disarming, punching and stealing gear at round start. You receive an ahelp from one of the victims.
I would ask the victim what exactly happened, check logs and the notes of the Marine. Basically this is either IC vandalism or LRP, depends on severity and note history of the Marine.

You receive an ahelp from a Marine saying that he was killed by another Marine. When you ask the murderer why, he said it was because the other Marine had punched him.
Check logs, notes, PM both players and so on, basically see what happened. Killing someone for a punch is almost definitely Improper Escalation and I would note and maybe ban the killer based on their notes.

You find out that there is an improper mutiny occuring. The mutineers are rallying together and preparing to storm the CIC. How would you attempt to resolve this situation?
First I would LOOC them and inform them about mutiny rules so that they may properly ahelp it.

If they don't comply I would MOOC.

If they STILL don't comply and start causing trouble, I'd sleep them and start noting/banning them based on severity, but only if they're LITERALLY ignoring me and running to shoot things.

There are minor racist comments going on IC. 9 of the 10 people are laughing and RPing but one player gets offended and Adminhelps about it.
IC racism is generally allowed, I'd keep it IC unless it was REALLY bad or if more people ahelped it.

A marine opens fire at round start in briefing killing multiple marines and instantly logs off.
Give the shooter a few minutes to see if they come back.

If they don't, ban and file for perma.

If they do, PM/check notes but it's propably still perma.

    Aheal the victims too.

You see a player playing a Xeno larva/chestburster run towards the frontlines straight from the Xeno hive the second they burst and die.
Check where they burst and where the hive/marines are, then warn them not to approach the frontlines. If they die, note them or xeno ban then if they've done it before.

Things like this usually happen to new players so propably wouldn't hurt to tell them how to leave the round as xeno.

You see a Xeno memeing, saying AYYLMAO, REEEEEE etc in hivemind chat, as well as insulting the Queen.
PM him to inform them about xeno RP standards, note if they do it again, ban if there's a history of it.

A Xeno player calls the shuttle a "dropship". A different Xeno player ahelps that it's low role play to call it a "dropship".
I'd inform them that calling calling things by their "real" name is allowed, as per xeno RP standards.

A Command staff player at briefing near round-start mentions there are aliens on the planet. You receive an ahelp from a marine regarding this.
I'm assuming this is allowed under Expected contact?

You find a Marine killing another Marine on the EVAC Pod to take the last spot and claims it was RP as he was saving himself. There are two other marines in the pod along with him.
The killer technically has a valid RP reason for his actions. Check notes and logs for escalation, PM both players and witnesses too, then decide if the escalation was proper.

A player insults you after you warn them for a minor issue and begins ranting in LOOC or dchat about staff and mentions you specifically, referring to you as an 'idiot' and a 'retard'.
As I've said before I generally don't care about people insulting me, but if they started spamming it so much that it started bothering other players I would ask other staff members to take action.

A player ahelps saying he was hugged by a Xeno when he was ssd, and wants the larva be removed from him via admin powers. How do you handle the ahelp?
    IC issue

You see a fellow staff member give wrong information in an Adminhelp or incorrectly enforce a rule.
If it's wrong information I'd just correct them in msay ir PM.

As for the rule, I'd contact their manager.

Two staff are arguing in msay if an ahelp is breaking a rule. Because the staff who took the ahelp thinks the player broke a rule, they ban the player based on their interpretation of the rules, with others thinking the person was fine. What would you do?
Contact the relevant managers. Can't do anything else, really.

Why would you like to become a moderator?
Mainly because I've enjoyed being a mentor. I like CM and want to help out.

In your opinion, what is the most important quality for a moderator?
I'd say empathy, always useful when interacting with other people.

    Anything else you
Pasta is the best meal from the vendors and you can't convince me otherwise.

Only thing is that we are less lenient with roundstart shenanigans, so if someone is seriously disruptive with disarming / stealing stuff pre-briefing, we bwoink them.

I see you often, I think you'd make a good mod.

    Chicken MRE is the best.
