I was the military police for that round, one of two active personnel (consisting me, and the CMP) within the ship under the command of Donald Weinstein.

Who then issued two orders for us to follow. One of which was to maintain the northern and southern checkpoints.

Then the second order came in, which was to arrest those that do not wear a helmet. I notified the commanding officer that since there are two active military personnel, either one or the other order can be followed, due to lack of man power.

So I was issued to maintain the southern checkpoint by the CMP, when I notified the commander about the dilemma.

The commander decided it was best for me to patrol, while he maintained the southern checkpoint. So I proceed to do so.

Notifying people about the order that the CO issued, with a warning and even being lenient to repeat offenders (under the suspicion, that they didn't hear me the first time) up until I ran into the TC.

This is where the actual report comes in. I notified the command, and police channels if the TC was part of the order issued by the commanding officer. Which I got a reply from the CMP, but not the CO.

So i mentioned it to the TC, and the TC (in disgust of the order), wished to be arrested then and there. I proceeded to do so.

While on my way to the brig, I walked over to the southern checkpoint to where the CO was about the matter, and asked him multiple times, both in person, and comms about the matter.

No reply what so ever. A local SO that heard me ask the CO, both in person, and over comms (cause they were literally two tiles away from me when asking about it) asked me to release the TC.

I asked the commanding officer whether or not the standing order affected the TC, and to verify yes or no about the matter. Still no reply.

Eventually telling the commander that I was gonna release them under the discretion that marines are only affected by the order (so pretty much my first assumption before I asked on comms whether or not the TC was to follow these orders, and later getting confirmed by the CMP that they were considered a marine.)

With my fustration and lack of response on any comms channel, I called the commanding officer an autistic fuck to get their attention. (still no reply from him~), and proceed to release the TC, and then watch over a prisoner that was arrested for the "no helmet order" in the brig.

When suddenly I get contacted by the moderator in question about the matter.

Their first response was "Just to let you know: the TC wearing a welding helmet counts as proper uniform.Other crew must wear their uniform and assigned footwear. Headwear, if any is worn, must be your properly assigned headgear or one of the standard issue USCM headgear.The welding helmet is part of that."

Which wasn't even part of the reason why I was arresting the TC, in was that whether or not the helmet itself was issued to them as a unit.

I replied, "Tell that to the CO, I asked on comms about it. He said arrest, check the logs about it"

The matter of this report is, them questioning my actions of arresting the TC for not wearing a helmet, rather then a breach of SOP.

How you would punish the accused

No punishment at all. Just remind them to properly, and fully investigate the situation, before jumping to assumptions.

More or less, I blame the CO for enforcing the SOP of helmets being required. I suggest remove helmets entirely from the SOP rule, otherwise more issues of this matter will occur in the future.

On a personal note, enforcing the helmet rule is just an excuse to create provocation.

Allright; here's my side:

1. I DID get your side of the story. By PM'ing you and listening to your responses, you also specifically told me your side of the story as well.

2. Asking others is part of the investigative process, especially those who are involved. I talked to both you and the initial Ahelper. While I was planning on asking the TC what happened, I saw that they were not currently brigged and didn't want to bother them, so I opened the logs instead.

3. I don't see anything wrong in asking for additional info and quotes to assist in logdiving.

4. A punishment was not handed out, so I did not "immediately jump to assumptions". Here's a dilemma. The CO issues a order for the arrest of the bravo SL for wearing a fire fighters helmet. What do I do? Is it classified as a helmet? Even though the CO's exact orders is to arrest practically anyone that doesn't have a helmet. (he said marines, but if we're not considering the TC as marines, then what do we classify their sergeant first class rank as?) The CMP, and practically anyone that has played TC knows that they have welding googles.

There is no actual legitimate defense when you take the proper precautions and still get chewed out for it~

This report is a prime example why I had to tell the whitelist COs to stop ordering people to wear only helmets or they get arrested on sight. In this regard he was trying to investigate and all you did was just hinder him when he was trying to get more info and say I’m going to staff report you in the end

How can you expect us to investigate it when he is literally saying “this will help me” For your info opening logs during the round takes extra time because they still generate, and anything our players can do to help the process is a good thing.

As far as this issue with SOP I’ll make it clear for everyone now, the SOP with headgear means issued head gear. If it spawns on the Almayer in a vendor, locker, it’s USCM issue. The intent of the SOP is for things like paper hats, civilian hats found on the planet, or alien stufff (pred masks)
