    Rework IO

    Yep. What the title says.

Now I know that there are other issues at hand that need immediate reworking and might take priority, like Marine Law, but I'd like to take a moment to add to the discussion the possibility of IOs getting reworked.

While there has been talk about realistic intel distribution and even a reworked way of lowering DEFCON, I feel IOs need a rework for organizing.

    Proposal:

Specifically add the ability for CIC to track IOs or even have their cams watched by either the SO console or hell, maybe the XO's console (to give him something to do).

Add to that maybe, a more senior or lead position within the unit. Make IOs officially a squad with a formal structure. Lets say 1 Ensign leading and the other two slots a Staff Sgt rank or vice-versa (hell why not add two more slots to make 5 in total).

This would eliminate the need for IOs to keep asking for escorts, they can possibily cover more ground and CIC can concentrate more Marine manpower on combat.

    Thoughts? Cons and Pros?

Maybe keep an IO as an officer, but have one IE (Intel Enlisted) in each squad. The IE should probably be a Corporal and have almost same skills as the IO, but slightly lower leadership. The IE should basically be an upgraded version of a PFC with an Intel kit.

Having them spread out amongst the squads lets them cover more ground than being in a single squad.

Honestly this idea might be even better. This would streamline it even more AND cut back on having someone to manage them via CIC.

Welp. I like this too, though why not go a step further and just remove the officer rank. I can see this working with Pigeon's idea. Maybe still have their own Channel like Engineering in the radio so they can coordinate.

I kinda want to keep the officer to have one dude who is in charge, it's easy to end up with 4 people pulling in different directions otherwise.

The point of putting them in squads is so SOs can watch them nativily without having to put them in a squad and so they have a SL marker to follow. Adding an officer for the IOs would muddle it up, like what do they do? Also it might be a Intel Gatherer then? a IG?

Every command role can be put into squads.
And im 100% sure you can even put a doctor into delta squad. And if they're wearing a helmet you can track them.

Hmm..... well....even if we did keep the Officer rank people are still going to go different directions. Plus, what Pigeon said... Its going to make SL redundant and muddle things. Better they have the same rank as Engies/Medics and keep their own channel to communicate. Besides SL could always make a Fire Team for them that way they can coordinate in a group.

At the same time.... If we did keep the Officer rank.... maybe what? Have him decode solely intel work? Would be a boring (albeit important) role.

Heh "Intel Enlisted" rolls off nicely in my mind for some reason.

Did not even know that. If that's the case then its easy for the Devs to add cam functionality in IO helmets.

Again.... (And I know, way to flip-flop) we might be just better off having IO's as a different squad, only with one clearly as a senior member leading it with beacons working... and CIC being able to track them by default.

IO helmets can be viewed too.
They have the same functionality as a marine helmet.

IO intergration into squads is more so IOs can follow SLs, gain color tribe trust(ideots only follow fellow blues and such), and push IOs to stick to squads instead of running off to die to xx- 420 Young Lurker in middle on nowhere. That or get snatched by a warrior
