    >thread title "rework IO"
    >you post two suggestions that are just additional features to IO and don't change how IOs function on a core level

I don't know why this annoys me as much as it does, I think it's just the state of complaining on the forums with little to no actual, fleshed out ideas on how to improve usually incredibly complicated systems, just little chicken nugget ideas that people have sporadically and randomly.

The intel system is part IO part defcon, we are discussing IOs

    Beside squad intergration...

A way to just feed a machine intel and let it deal with sorting it, this is to prevent late coming IOs from having to sort ALL the intel to find clues. The machine finds clues for you just feed it.

The intel armor while nice does make you a big target for aliens since even if it is FOB defence killing an IO is different then killing an PFC so they kill you for bragging rights.

Give points for IOs to spend on C-4, MDs, and attachies

    Give them a MRE

Rework intel on some maps, LV is very easy to get the intel and easy to get defcon 3 or even 2.

    Way ahead of you guys.

[1] Giving IOs more support and gear.

[2] Making IO less tedious to play.

Sorry I didn't ask how you felt about the thread. I asked people, who generally play IOs (or are tired of seeing IO's go off into the dark to die alone) to post or even discuss ideas on how to make them less tedious to play. Specifically "organizing" them, since at the moment there are already discussions on reworking Intel/Defcon.

Even little chicken nugget ideas are ideas, and I welcome any (even ideas that piggyback them) that improve the way IOs play out.

Also to be fair.... you do realize this is a forum? I agree in part to what you said but there are always going to be posts that have legit complaints, discussions on how to solve them (like the ongoing thread about Marine Law), and shit posts that just whine. And granted I'm not saying I have the solution, but that's what discussions are for, to air out ideas and see which are good and bad.

Mini-points for locker attachies/MDs/C4 would be nice, but just enough not to entirely cut off Req interactions. (Cause who doesn't love interacting with CTs/RO for attachies?)

Brah...those are legit suggestions man. Guess this thread is over , didn't realize there were discussions going on in Gitlab. Agree with maybe 99% of them. (1 % because the document decoder would destroy my OCD)

I like the idea of 1 enlisted IO in every squad. Makes some of the grunt work of Intel gathering lessened. Allow any PFC to get the Intel kit to make them about the same.

Then also keep 2 (depending on pop size) officer IO to do the decoding and have everyone with an intel channel so the officers can let the planet side enlisted IO know where the intel clues lead. Finally add the ending level intel or certain special intel require Officer level access requiring them to head down to finish out certain intel chains.

This way you have hopefully the officers not dying early on. You get steady low level intel coming in to be decoded an hopefully for sure someone there to decode it. You also get a big pay off mission the officers can go on, maybe RP related they can let the CO/XO or CL know about.

The issue of one IO per squad is that they now outrank the Staff Sergeant (SL), and will still have to leave everyone alone to creep off to their office. That's the Mini-IOs job, and I'm fairly certain that every Squad has a kit for that anyways.

Giving Intelligence it's own small army means that the Squads can focus on what they do best, and not babysitting. Plus, it gives them more impact for after the roundup.

Meh, just make their rank same with the Spec, or with SG. That way Medics and Engies only become ASL's when shit really hits the fan

So, you want Intelligence Officers to become redundant sergeants/corporals, be assigned to squads that aren't explicitly intel-focused, and still need to leave that squad behind to process data.

Even medics can pack enough medicine to never need to head shipside, and engineers can at least scrounge the colony should supplies not arrive, but let's say that the squads get their Intelligence Corporals.

Alphas gets set on fire during a Xeno push, and now we're down 25% of our data-capabilities since he was left there and Alpha medics can't handle 400 burn damage.

Bravo is assigned to the FOB. They can either sit on their ass, or pull marines that should be defending cade lines and haven't already unga'd off to gather Intel. Either it's an effective 25% drop in intelligences power again, or an easy flank is cracked open since it was undefended.

Charlie might work, they get those "go fix engineering, then filtration, and get the monorail online" type missions all the time. Now, however, they've probably got to head all the way back to the LZ to drop them off, wait for them to come back, or split off a piece of the main force to escort them.

Delta. I shouldn't have to explain them. They rush off to the front line as quick as possible. Typical Delta won't stick around to root through every filing cabinet and locker for paper scraps.

A fifth "squad" doesn't need to worry about the reason other players join squads, it's basically picking a class. You get just the strength you need to do the job.

Just that if people are swayed for having them deployed in a squad like julian and pigeon think, its better they be given nco ranks lower than SL to avoid confusion since they seem focused on having IOs keeping their officer rank.

Besides I think the whole point of thread is moot since its better to post on CMSS13's Gitlab. More exposure to Devs aaaannnnd your posts on Gitlab pretty much covered what I think or how IO's could be improved.

100% agree that the best solution would be for Intel to get its own squad (Echo). I think that squad should be limited in numbers, but be slightly better than the other squads. Slightly higher skills, slightly better weapons, radios that can listen in on all squads, and fultons for everyone. But also be limited to one or two IOs, a medic, an engineer, and four privates; maybe a specialist or smartgunner as well.
