Permanesting seems to have mixed but mostly negative opinions so far :\
I think a lot of people are just missing their last 'fuck you' when trying to break out. Some seem to see it as a marine nerf and knee jerk against it for that reason, but mostly it just seems like people enjoy those last second grenades and suicides when they're captured despite almost never succeeding in escaping alive or preventing themselves from bursting.
Functionally almost nothing is different in outcome for captures from what we used to have with what exists now.
Remove devour mechanic, let marines be nested away from queen, maybe reduce facehugger stun. Should result in people fighting back before they get nested, and solve the issue with people wanting more of a chance than facehugger = gg.
there are two categories of people who like it: people who literally only play xeno, and people who were already so frustrated with the way capturing worked that they just ghosted anyway. So, people who don't have to deal with it and people who already ragequit the instant it happened to them.
everyone else hates it. Everyone else also hated the 3 second delay. They were both terrible changes which made a bad gameplay mechanic much worse.
Nest guarding is bad gameplay mechanics. Plus, penalizing xenos for brief nest escapes because they didn't set their stop watch correctly is a huge swing for a very difficult task--Capturing marines is not easy, especially if the marines are not wandering around by themselves. Xenos should be rewarded if they manage to get a live marine all the way back to a nest, full stop.
It would be like if marines has to stand next to a xeno corpse for 15 minutes, and melee attack it once every 5 minutes, or it will auto-revive. It's tedious, it's pointless, it's counter-intuitive to the difficulty of capturing marines, and marines are salty because they can't occasionally grenade themselves. I'm a marine main, but a tedious, boring, shitty gameplay mechanic is bad no matter what side you're on if you look past your own gameplay biases. The Devs have to design a good game for both Xenos AND Marines. If you aren't willing to give xenos more power in areas of removing tedium, then you don't get to complain when Xenos Warriors get chain grab mechanics or other cheese like that.
Permanesting is good, because it was basically impossible to stop someone from popping out of the nest and then activating their grenade macro 0.1seconds later, before the nerve impulses from your brain can even finish travelling to your finger so you can click spit neuro.
Is there even a macro for a grenade? If it is in your suit slot I guess you could just press "e", but other than that you had to wait 3 seconds of unnesting stun to even open your satchel. There are no macros for "click" anymore.
(Not marinemaining, just pointing the obvious misconception)
