    Xenomorph Tier List Discussion

    XENOMORPH TIER LIST - LAST UPDATED: 10/01/2019

    * What?
    - This is a tier list for discussion on the current state of each individual Xenomorph, whether they should rise in tier or should be buffed. This tier list aims to qualify Xenomorphs by their overall utility, with a major focus on combat or combat support abilities. Special castes such as Abomination, Xenoborg and Queen are excluded for obvious reasons.

    * Why?
    - I was bored.

    This list will be updated after every update and kept updated. TrollerNoob will be helping me maintain this, they'll reply to people in case I can't.

    Here is the current Tier List, with every explanation written under this line:

    SS TIER
    THE META KNIGHTS, LITERALLY

    * Boiler
    - Post mutator boiler is incredibly strong, being able to gas an entire Prison Station FOB at Elder, or even Mature. Current gas sizes are quite ridicolous, making a Boiler an extremely valuable asset, if not a necessary one due to how good it is. Speed and health mutators allow it to ignore covering fire such as snipers or rail scope rifles. Incendiary A19 bursts are the only things that will put a dent on it at range.

    * Lurker
    - Easily a top tier Xenomorph even before mutators, Lurkers are able to flank and take out targets effectively, with high chances of delimbs if aiming for the extremeties and very high chances of organ damage if they're aiming for the chest. They possess good health, speed on par with Mature Runners and very high damage. Elder Lurkers with a damage mutation can effectively do single driveby slashes and break hands or feet reliably, and a pounced marine is nowadays a dead marine regardless of the outcome.

    * Ravager
    - Mutators have boosted the Ravager to superstar levels, being fast enough to disengage from fights very easily with double Speed mutators and being able to hardcrit marines in three to four slashes easily if aiming for the chest. The RNG delimb is also still extremely good, coupled with damage mutator stacked slashes the chances for delimbs are quite silly. Longer Charge is also a very viable mutator, extending the Ravager Charge distance to a whopping 6 tiles, rendering most dodging attempts futile.

    * Praetorian
    - Arguably on par with a Ravager, Praetorians are incredibly versatile and can do just about anything. They possess very high health and armour, alongside the strongest and fastest neurospit and acid spit. Praetorian acid splashes are capable of critting marines in a few spits at close range, whereas Praetorian neurotoxin easily stuns for over four seconds and has a very high fire rate on Mature+. Praetorians also possess acid sprays for situational CC and pheromones to strengthen themselves and the Xenomorphs around them. Current mutators boost the Mature Praetorian pheromones to Empress level, while also being able to increase their already insane speed to even higher levels.

    S TIER

    WHERE THE FUN BEGINS

    * Sentinel
    - Mutators have boosted Sentinels to incredible levels, with speed upgrades and drag speed upgrades being able to boost the Sentinel's already naturally higher drag speed to almost runner speed. Not only can they singlehandedly abduct marines and keep them stunlocked, they're also able to use acid to melt Specialist weapons upon a successful neurotoxin, should they deem their life a good sacrifice.

    * Spitter
    - Same reason as the Sentinel, except Spitters are arguably slightly worse due to not having natural pull speed upgrades. They are still quite a great pick and evolve into Boilers, mind you.

    * Warrior
    - Warriors have always been a caste that required low amounts of skill to use effectively, any average or slightly below average player can pick up the Warrior and get good results by simply using Lunge. Mutators are capable of boosting the already super high Warrior slash damage, health and armour as well. Moreover, a very skilled Warrior is easily capable of dunking on groups of Marines alone. This does require more skill than neurotoxin however, and bad warriors are more punishable than Sentinels or Spitters due to Lunge CD.

    A TIER

    I WANT TO WIN TOURNAMENTS

    * Crusher
    - Crushers are very good now, being boosted back up from their realm of uselessness via Armour, Speed and Health mutators boosting their already high armour, health and charge speed stats. A charging Crusher with double speed mutators is a fearsome foe, being nigh impossible to dodge with T3 bodyblock if charging at full momentum. This is quite situational however, hence the A tier placement. Unlike the castes in S and SS tier, Crushers require an adapt environment to work at their fullest extent, as they are nigh useless in caves.

    * Drone
    - Hugger combat Drones with Praetorian frenzy and boosted tackle, what's not to love? They can boost their already very high speed with double speed upgrades AND boosted pheromones, becoming a walking death machine if the clicks are well timed. However, the Buckshot and Rifle buffs have both affected the Drone's ability to hugger combat, since they both do a massive amount of damage at a safe distance.

    * Hivelord
    - Much like Drones, Hivelords possess the benefit of being able to use Resin Walker to receive insane speed on weeds. However, this is counteracted by a very big hitbox and the lack of speed outside of weeds. Hivelords also possess extremely fast building and very durable walls to further boast their defensive and support capabilities.

    * Carrier
    - Post-buff Carriers are good, now being a T2 instead of a T3. They still have the same issues as before, however with boosted pheromones and speed they are able to 1v1 quite reliably.

    * Defender
    - Defenders are a very solid choice for frontline juggling, being able to tank quite a few shots and shove downed enemies to Xenomorph lines without much risk. They are still slow even with double Speed upgrades and Tail Sweep is mostly RNG, leaving their 1v1 abilities up to whether or not RNG likes you.

    B TIER

    I LIKE LIVING ON THE EDGE

    * Runner
    - Runners have received quite a buff to their movement speed due to double speed mutators, and are now capable of moving at what is effectively light speed with boosted damage, they are also capable of boosting Marines to Xenomorph hives with just their bodies. This is a double bladed sword however, as you'll need to slow down or stop moving to land any hits. Moreover, a single buckshot blast will end most runners' life immediately, much like two rifle bursts at close range. Boosting requires a fair few situational conditions to be fulfilled, such as good environment and a bald marine, thus not making it 100% reliable. Runners have also lost their old tackle, weakening their 1v1 potential. For the most part, there is little reason to remain as a Runner as even a Young Lurker can exceed an Ancient Runner.

    C TIER

    I FEEL LIKE DYING TODAY

    * N/A
    - Nothing fulfills the C tier requirements now.

    F TIER

    THE GARBAGE CAN

    * Burrower
    - This is no surprise to anyone, Burrowers lack any sort of utility or uniqueness outside of making a few tunnels. They have no noteworthy stats or abilities, all they can do is burrow, which is ruined by any ranged stun. Their damage isn't great, their speed isn't great, their sprite isn't great, they do nothing special, they're just garbage really. Burrower holes are more situational than anything else, requiring another T3 to help you, and are otherwise easily spottable and worse than Carrier holes (since the Carrier can make their own holes...). The B in Burrower stands for 'bad', as many have guessed.

    The "SS Rank"? I see what you did there, a little bit reference to the past. Superior caste, blond crest, blue inner jaw and being robust with "work sets you free.

    The tackle is not as bad of a debuff as you think. Slower maturation is probably better, as you can take it once you have mature tier threes.

    In any case, I feel hivelords are S tier. You forgot to mention that once they hit elder, they get a health pool so thicc that double health mutator makes them nigh-unkillable. and they can regen plasma almost as fast as they can spend it. You can deny pushes more consistently than a boiler, even if not in as potent of a manner. You can also create the conditions for marines to fight in by making resin hallways. Any marine using AP will barely dent this bastard with the AP rework.

    Carrier has now been made a T2.

    Hence it has been MASSIVELY buffed simply because its a T2; it does not take a T3 slot so its easier to get, and matures faster because of this.

    And this also means you can have more of them without sacrificing the hard hitting T3 slots.

    Hugger meta is back.

    Carrier is also one of the hardest hitting castes in the game. By virtue of hugging someone then targeting them in the head you wreck anyone in like 4 slashes. I decapped an RPG spec in 2 hits last night.

    Carrier was placed in B tier because it is too situational. As a combat unit it's only pro is combat hugging, but this requires it to get in close and actually click someone. Something that is simply impossible in this meta with the buffed rifles and "long-ranged" buckshot, this is also the reason why Drone is placed so low. Mobility and stuns, that is how you get high on the list. A carrier excels when then Queen screeches or a Spitter caste stuns someone for them, but they do not excel by themselves. As you cannot make a tier list based on synergy with others, this is how it was done.

    Hivelord is in A tier because denying marine pushes is also situational, as it requires you to be in a choke point. Not only that, you're only delaying the inevitable, and not actively attacking marines like a boiler gas in the same scenario. Dedicated marines will still make progress, since destroyed resin walls also deletes the resin underneath it, and attempting to replace it puts you at risk of being rushed down.

    The average hivelord isn't really a priority target when xenos are on the defensive, and marines generally just tear down mazes, or use the lanes to their own advantage because they use ranged weapons.

    Good luck rushing down a hivelord with resin walker if you dont stun it. You will never catch it ever. It takes forever to tear down hivelord walls with a machete. If you use a gun thats less bullets you have in the future. Hivelord can single handedly fuck up a push. Idk what game you are playing.

    All Xenomorphs are rated by their average utility and overall usefulness.

    The difference between A and S+ tier Xenos is that A tier Xenos are extremely good, but only situationally. S+ tier Xenos are ALWAYS good, regardless of the situation or environment. Neither Hivelord nor Carrier fulfill the latter requirement.
