Perma nesting is one of the most stupid mechanics that has ever been implemented in CM history. The function of an entire hive caste, the sentinels, was to guard hosts.

You remove the possibility of marines to commit suicide \ escape and instead of compensating for this huge nerf, you do absolutely nothing of the same level in order to balance the game.

"Oh, but we slightly nerfed carriers and egg sniping!"

Nothing has changed at all. If you are stunned and a carrier is close to you, it's over, you will be hugged and probably dragged away to be nested while still unconscious, and if you wake in time a tackle will do the work. Egg sniping was in the first place supposed to be nerfed because it was a completely obnoxious mechanic.

At least when they removed hugger combat and cloning they looked for alternatives, such as defibrillators and xenos buffs. This is one of the most cancerous updates we've ever had and shows that CM is decaying development-wise.

See what I mean? People don't give a shit about what the old design meant for the people that had to actually play those nest roles. They're upset that marines will win less now. As if the devs can't do a patch later to balance the game after the impact of the actual permanest changes is adequately understood through playtesting.

Nevermind the fact that this is barely even a buff for xenos. It means two less sentinels guarding the nest, and the 2% of marines that unnest themselves and suicide successfully can't anymore to prevent a few larva.

The whole gameplay loop was cancerous. It's nearly the worst kind of gameplay loop designable. Just because there now needs to be additional balance changes as a follow up doesn't mean removing the bad game design was dumb. Crowdsourced freeware development is always going to be dependent on iterations to achieve quality, especially something like CM which cannot even adequately be tested without being released to the public.

Just politely note the balance issues and wait for the balance fixes.

No one is complaining about winrates here.

People are complaining about how permanent nesting is a cheap mechanic that facilitates xeno gameplay by removing the possibility of marine resistance. This gameplay cycle was considered cancer because xenos would always fuck up letting hosts kill themselves or kill incompetent xenos. This gameplay was not meant to be fun for roles aimed at defending hosts, but rather a task that needed attention, just as all roles in the game have an objective that may or may not be easy to accomplish. Don't expect the game to be easy for you just because you want it to be, get good and don't try to change mechanics just because you are bad at the game.

If we follow the logic of permanent nesting defenders, we should also remove screech, neurotoxin and other non-fun shit that increases dificulty from the game. If we keep quiet politely waiting for updates to balance the game, they just won't come. Recently, a dev made 3 votes asking whether or not to reverse perma nesting. All polls resulted in the option to revert, but instead of reverting they keep trying to enforce the update. This is extremely annoying and again shows that CM needs a better direction in terms of development.

All we can do is hope that the dev team will make this update at least acceptable in common sense.

I did not like the old nest mechanics, where one dude with a grenade wrecks everything..

    But this new system....naw bro.

The fix has made it so that a large number of things are ruined. And keep being ruined to fix it more.

Now you cant build forward nests..

Theres no point in secure nests either..

Resin blocks are entirely worthless now, there is no point.

Drones are worthless now. Their structures are too weak for defense and not needed at the nest.

    It seems wonky

I think the old system is better left dead but looking into reintroducing 'marine resistance' as a post-capture gameplay options sometime in the future would be appreciated if the responses ITT are any indication, especially once we know how this sort of update effects the average round.

If I'm reading correctly Neth's said they're going to remove the maturation mechanic from xenos, so in the future there will be no young aliens.

Rather, there will be young xenos, but it will only be cosmetic. Young and ancient will have the same stats.

Didn't we have way before that if you suicided in the nest you could be banned for meta knowledge that you would burst? I mean if we went way back to that we could have the no delay after successful resist, you just cant do anything but escape because you weren't suppose to know your pregnant with an alien.

Basically a decline of RP with how marines are meant to interact with aliens and aliens interact with marines mean that marines will always suicide in the nest and aliens don't have an interest in capturing due to the sucides and general unneeded killing of everything because killing=fun. Both combined basically means aliens get grinded down and loss all their numbers rather rapidly as they have interest in capturing and no one willing to guard anyway. If they are willing to guard it typically a veteran player that knows what to do and is better at the front, if new they are going to be mag-shottie PBed in about one minute and permadie. Or better yet it a valuable tier 2 like a warrior watching the captures instead of actually getting more captures.

Trying to force aliens to guard is impossible in the end. For marines if the MTs truly dick off and dont take care of the reactors or OB they can be arrested ICly or just straight up get warned/job banned for neglect. If a sentinel was not ordered to guard well tough shit no one ordered to guard no one was ordered to guard. Doesn't matter that 5 captures got up and beat the queen like a pouching bag. Ordered a sentinel to watch them? Either died or pissed off anyway so gg, or better yet one lucky marine get his m15 off and blasted 3 caps and some larva to ghost land.

Hoping and praying to players to be rational and do the right thing is a horrible idea, if that worked like that then IRL we would be living in a god dam utopia. Instead we must mechinally restrict things or enforce nasty RP standard or other crazy things. We could keep the new system coming up with permanesting, removed vore, and no maturity. Could enforce higher RP standards forcing marines to know they will turn to larva before trying to sucide and even then maybe can make it 'illegal' to nade yourself or something. Could force a task system for aliens so that some people pick frontliner and others hive guarding; don't do your job eat a job ban, queen goes full retard and force everyone to be hive guard while spitting out half gibbrish half insults it going to be a-okay because COs, XOs, Alien CO can go full retard and be in the right.

Basically the old system was broken and something had to be done. A bunch of marine mains are salty they cant nade sucide anymore, no wait I mean do that glorious escape which only happened because the hive was destroyed anyway or aliens were really dam lazy or you were front line nested anyway.

I don't get all of the hate for this change, besides the fact most of these post are from people who only play one side majorly. It was not fun in its current state for both sides 95%+ of the time. Is the current solution ideal? Probably not, but would you really expect it to stay the same for very long when so many big changes are being made to the game right now? It's a big step in the right direction, and personally I'm very excited about all of the big changes the devs have been teasing on the discord.
