I wonder why are all the good xeno players voting for option one... and why are all the 2019 players that sit in dchat voting for option two...
this is interesting..
This is how I feel corsat plays out - once you push into a dome/area and lock down the entrances it becomes pretty safe with a more structured front line rather than almost every other maps' "you can be attacked from any direction no matter where on the map you are. Corsat gives a sense of actual map control and back/forth fighting, although it's a lagfest every time I see the map being played.
In regards to the gameplay mechanics, Neth said he wanted marines to be more of a slow march that's reliant on cades. I'm not entirely against that gameplay style, it's partly necessary given how strong and tanky xenos are against marines, especially when massive AoE stuns like queen screech and gas hit the field, but I think it's also strongly contributing to the bogged down stagnant 5+ hour rounds we're getting.
I think the game would play better with a massive reduction in marine cades, possibly even the elimination of them. Make it useful for sealing up a room or a doorway, not building giant forts.
In Aliens, the marine secured things by welding doors, building makeshift barricades, and in the main approach to their building, placing pairs of sentry turrets.
But likewise this really necessitates some major gameplay and balance changes between marines and aliens when marines DON'T have cades. Particularly when trying to fight the queen, because as soon as the queen shows up, if you and your buddies are not behind cades and instead out in the open you are completely fucked from the screech.
They don't like you Donut lol. It brings them bad memories.
Also yea, whats been said here is basically spot on.
I miss the days of hugger combat unironically. Maybe it's just the red tint from my early days but I felt it really discouraged meta rush and encouraged ayys take out stragglers. Also with how the nests are currently it will not force the ayys to forever turtle due to marine suicide grenades since perma-nests alleviates the old need for excessive sentinels. This might be a useful alternative to just giving Ayys crazy amounts of health.
