    If lag is so bad, why not just split the server into two servers for now, until ss14

    Basically title.

    TG does it, don't see why CM can't either.

    300+ players regularly just grinds the server to a halt, to the point it's not really that engaging to play anymore. Splitting the playerbase across 2 servers, where players will swap naturally just to avoid lag. This doesn't even mean a higher maintenance outright, granted one can usually just split server memory across two instances anyways.

    That means hosting two servers. Needing more badmins to keep things under control and fix in case of crashing. And timezone doesn't help.

    it would help but not as much as yall think because people would just hop to the other server when they die or when a shitty map comes up or whatever

    Well, not even counting the nightmare of low-pop "Which mods/admins will monitor which server", it'd probably be a logistical nightmare to maintain for one. Twice the servers means twice the crashes which means twice the pings/messages that the Dudes in Charge will get that say "SEBVER CRASH RESTART RESTART RESTART". And because BYOND is black magic nonsense, I'm fairly sure that eventually Server A will end up getting bugs/glitches that Server 2 never end up getting which would be a pain in the ass for the Dev team. Combined with the fact that whenever an event is announced, people might end up getting confused about which server will have said event or whatever.

    Oh, and I'm pretty sure that the two different servers will devolve into "No, THIS server is better!" backbiting and tribalism bitching.
    Usually playing as Darwin 'D.J.' Jefferson, PFC (Private: Flare Carrier), or Smartgunner almost always out of ammo. Occasionally an RO who yearns for death, dealing with rampant jackassery of his coworkers.

    I've always wondered how it would be if we had an additional server, which was specifically HvH, and more RP heavy.

    It would certainly be an interesting thing to experiment with.
