How do you view the tool of Battlefield Execution to be used? What circumstances do you think it would be necessary to BE a member of the crew? Where do you think the Battlefield Execution Mechanic Differs from regular Execution and why? Insidious action such as mutiny, disobeying vital orders (A round winning, necessary, high IQ push is called and the SL refuses to do it) or murder to another marine. Same thing similar as before, if a engineer or req guy tries to purposely sabotage the operation by damaging the engine. BE separates from regular execution in the sense that it's a sudden decision by the commander to maintain order, rather than a regular punishment for a crime. The role of the BE is not for an obscure punishment and should be left for serious matters, or not used at all.
I generally find the be to be a silly tool though. Normally when a commander uses it comes off as a comedic effect, while not necessarily an issue, it’s not the intended purpose. There are much better ways to handle it, and I general believe that the way MP’s imprison someone is effective. I have been imprisoned myself a few times and sitting there for 15 to 20 minutes is never an enjoyable experience.
How will your Commanding Officer run his/her ship? Provide a detailed explanation on how he would handle situations that might commonly occur such as, a insubordinate Req, Engineering, MP, or Command Staff Decentralization. Everything has its own role and everyone has their own job. Step in when someone is in a new role, they don't know how to do such as XO or SO to allow them to grow. Engineering, Req, and Marines all have sub leaders and know what to do. Insubordination is rarely a problem. If an MP is insubordinate you go to the CMP, same thing for engineering or Req. If a sub faction head is being a gremlin then you would go to the MPs. If it's the MP's gather the SL's, if everyone is insubordinate than you have somewhere along the way messed up.
For specific examples:
Req is insubordinate.
There are multiple members of Req typically. If there’s not, we can have an SO take over. If a subordinate of the RSO is being insub, then we can have him handle it. If he cannot resolve it, you call the MP’s. If the RSO himself is being insub, then the MP’s will be called, and he can be replaced by another Req individual or an SO. We can take his dogtags to complete any task.
Engineering,
Engineering is a bit different. They are vital and not as easily replaced. If they are being insubordinate the key will be to figure out why. If it’s simply because a monkey decided to roll it and mess around, I would probably go to staff, or let play out depending on how damaging it was. It will be both a unique learning experience that could make a round more engaging. It’s best to handle these things ic’ly as much as possible. To handle it IC’ly, call the MPs. See if we can get another engineer to replace him. The XO can probably take over for him.
MP
While it’s technically against the rules for MP to be insub, it also creates a unique experience. Similar to the engineering situation. It would either become an OOC issue or the SL’s would be gathered and a potential fight for the ship would occur. If the MP was simply being insubordinate with no reason or development, it would obviously be against the rules and become an OOC issue.
Command Staff
Command Staff is the easiest. You either handle it in person or you call the MPs. If it’s something minor, it can be discussed, and they’ll probably fold. If a SO drops without permission, they’ll be radio’d to return. If they fail to return, they’ll be escorted back. If they simply start fighting with others, then they’ll be cuffed and given the appropriate amount of time. If they don’t want to complete a task, they may simply be busy and managing multiple things. I would then wait for a period of peace, chastise them for ignoring it, and move on.
What do you think is the job of a Commander? To design the plan and oversee its execution. Rather than micromanage ground leaders his role is to deconflict issues between the different sub factions and supervise/refine the plan. The CO can either let the XO take charge, or he can handle it himself. I have been more impressed with proactive CO’s, but it’s important to let XOs develop.
I typically prefer a more proactive CO because as an XO it leaves less to be assumed or taken over. Rather than suggest something, they have a key plan of action. It works best when the CO is keeping track and watching out for potential downfalls such as power going down, a gap in the lines, OB’s hitting a poor position, or marines not being reinforced with material properly. This is what it means for the CO to deconflict issues.
As a player what do you think could be added for Commanding Officer to benefit the role? The ability to draw on the tacmap and take a picture of it for announcements. I used GYAZO as an XO or when I get thrown into command as an SO. It would be nice to draw and post your tacmap without having to screenshot it outside of the game.
What do you think you could contribute by being whitelisted? I enjoy playing as SO and XO. It's very enjoyable to sit there on the screen, watch marines, and try and save them without being able to physically do anything. When you must manage multiple squads at once it gets hectic. I would hopefully contribute more enjoyment of the game. By supporting the different sub factions and deconflicting the issues that come up you let them enjoy their role to the greatest capability.
