I am fine with ARES saying "Joeseph Bider has served his time. Release him." And even "Damage at this place or whatever" but what is really annoying is when you're an MP and you see some guy break a window to get an attachment. So what? It's a minor crime, who cares. You are walking around like, 5 minutes later when ARES announces "Joe Bob has broken a window at Charlie squad req. Arrest him for damage to government property" It's like, no. I don't care. ARES is an AI, it has no military RANK and it is not an MP. MPs should be the ones who determine whether or not they enforce minor crimes. It makes sense that a commissioned officer can order someone's arrest, but not ARES. ARES has no rank, when it tell you to do something, you know to do it because it is admemes who are playing ARES, but if an MP doesn't want to enforce marine law, then they don't have to. If it is a major crime or capital, or ordered by a commissioned officer then they do, but do they even technically have to listen to ARES? All it is good for is bioscans and hijack announcments.
If admemes want MPs to do something, then do it the right way and fax them, or announce it as high command, because ARES doesn't really have any power in marine law ICly. I checked marine law. No where does it say anything about ARES, same with the SOP. It should be the CMP/MPs who run their department, not ARES. All ARES does is get in MP's way and tell them to arrest random people who don't even deserve it. I can understand announcements like "Captain is SSD in his office, please cryo him" but not "Joe Bob stole a rail flashlight, arrest him for theft." Maybe make it easier for admemes to interact with MPs other than ARES, or make some clause in marine law about what ARES can do cause currently MPs can ignore it ICly and shouldn't be punished OOCly, unless it's a major crime someone committed.
