Technically Jones is the CO's pet, so you can't argue it as Government Property. Nor can you charge it under assault since it is intended for human beings.

HOWEVER, you can actually charge the XO or CO or aCO for Insanity for killing Jones. The RP argument is that the aCO/CO is not of sound mind to lead the marines after killing his/her own pet and is likely a danger to the mission.

This was the same reason used to justify a mutiny against me when I BE'd Jones. I think it is still very valid. But you gotta fax HC first of course.

Make Jones immune to all forms of damage except direct Xeno attack, make him impossible to grab & drag, let marines walk through his sprite like he's a ghost and done. If a marine tries to punch the cat, he gets a "You have enough restraint to not harm Jones." message and problem fucking solved, and we can all move onto the next memery.
