How do you view the tool of Battlefield Execution to be used? What circumstances do you think it would be necessary to BE a member of the crew? Where do you think the Battlefield Execution Mechanic Differs from regular Execution and why? The Battlefield Execution is a mechanic meant to be used as a last resort. The impact of this tool is quite big as it can permanently ruin a round for someone. As such I intend to use it as I said, only as a last resort. An example of a situation where I would use the Battlefield Execution would be when someone is shooting up the place and I am nearby, otherwise I would get MPs on it. There is no reason to Battlefield Execute for anything not too serious as the MPs can deal with it and getting arrested doesn't end the round permanently for them, which I would prefer not to do.
The difference between a Battlefield Execution and a regular execution is that a battlefield execution skips all procedures and kills the person on the spot, while the regular execution can take quite some time and requires the person to have committed a capital crime beforehand.
How will your Commanding Officer run his/her ship? Provide a detailed explanation on how he would handle situations that might commonly occur such as, a insubordinate Req, Engineering, MP, or Command Staff My Commanding Officer will be relatively relaxed with his crew, he will give his marines multiple chances to do what they were ordered if they are insubordinate in general, he would not dish out pardons everywhere unless it's very good for the operation. As such, my Captain does not believe that roles such as specialists should be pardoned for what they are. He is a firm believer in Marine Law and is aware the Military Police is his best friend, and that you do not want them angered.
Regarding insubordinate departments, here is how my Commanding Officer would handle them.
Insubordinate Requisitions - My Commanding Officer would contact the department on radio and see what's wrong and why they are disobeying orders, he would then try to explain to them how important they are and that he means only the best for the operation. If requisitions does not listen he will go down there and talk to them personally. If everything fails he will have no choice but to replace them by ordering their arrest for Insubodrdination, replacing them with a CT or the XO if the whole requisitions was insubordinate and not just RO.
Engineering - This department is currently not too important, while yes they are useful they are nothing compared to something like requisitions or command. Regardless, my Commanding Officer would investigate what's wrong in the department and then explain that they are needed for their skills of making grenades, but I doubt I will ever get in trouble with engineering. Currently you only need them for loading OBs, and you can do that yourself or get the XO to do it.
Military Police - Insubordinate Military Police can be an OOC issue, but I would prefer to leave it IC. I would remind them that I am their direct commander and be more stricter as I expect much more from MPs. I would remind them that breaking any law as an MP results in Neglect of Duty charges as well per the Standard Operation Procedure. If all else fails, I would have them arrested.
Command Staff - Command staff might be the least important in my opinion. I believe the CIC is often overstaffed and that two people are enough to run it. Once again however, I would listen to their side, I believe that most CIC staff mean the best for the marines and simply disagree if we come to this resolution. I am unlikely to order their arrest here as I prefer having CIC staff's stance being very friendly and trustworthy towards me.
What do you think is the job of a Commander? The job of a Commanding Officer is to bring more fun to the round, their special provisions and rank allow them do participate in RP situations where the XO is not able to be. Such as when pardons are required or Some changes to departments. While the Captain can lead the operation, and I definitely intend to do that, I want to focus on roleplaying with the shipside crew, giving my XO more chances to learn the command. If he struggles with commanding I can always take over.
As a player what do you think could be added for Commanding Officer to benefit the role? I wish there was a way to not interrupt other players on the CIC Consoles, it is very annoying for both them and me. I feel pretty bad when I do it. As such perhaps another OW console that can see all squads in the CIC?
What do you think you could contribute by being whitelisted? I honestly believe I can bring higher roleplay to the role, I often see Commanding Officers who aren't really LRP but don't try to roleplay much. When commanding, I would like to focus on making an off-meta plan. I would still go with a meta one if the alternatives are very unlikely to work. For example I would still order Hydro on LV-624, but if there is a viable strategy like ordering a flank via telecommunications on Big Red then yeah I will do it.
