    Unknown - Rule 2 Roleplay

    Player Report
    Your Byond ID?
    Bath Salts Addict

    Date of Incident
    June 27, 2020

    Your Character Name?
    Ali Amir

    Accused Byond Key(if known):
    Unknown

    Accused Character Name
    Sofia Radic

Approximate time and date of the incident (Central US Time for fastest results)
    10:15 AM CST onwards.

    What rule(s) were broken:
    Rule 2 Roleplay

    Description of the incident:
Forest told me to make this report, so I am. All relevant images are in an imgur album in the evidence section.

At the start of the round, Sofia Radic was the only one in Command, as the XO. From the start they announced their intentions to do a 12:15 drop without even holding a briefing and that squad orders would be held via announcements. Understandable, everyone was a little confused but sort of rolled with it.

12:15 comes around and the dropship launches without a good chunk of Marines, I don't think anyone even had time to grab the comms crate, and the XO accuses the synth of disobeying a direct order. All four specialists were left behind as well, at some point. The synth, however, was too busy treating the dead and wounded when the OT lab exploded.

Once called out on this, Radic's only response is "shut up roleplayer".

The XO's orders, specifically, were to have Bravo on FOB and Alpha, Charlie and Delta form up into a murderball and converge on specified locations, specifically where the xenos tend to hive up on Sorokyne. This is what they called 'scouting'. And rather than actually try to coordinate, they simply told the SLs to do all the hard work.

I eventually made an ahelp and was asked by Forest to make this report, as the main issue he has is with the lack of a briefing and attempt to get Marines down as quickly as 12:15.

Also, the round ended at around the 12:40 mark in a Marine victory.

    Evidence (screenshots, logs, etc):
How you would punish the accused:
Iunno. This is the first encounter I've had with them. I don't know their history.

Hello, I am the player you've reported.

While OOCly I do not know you at all, I've remembered your IC character very well by now, since whenever I play CO, you go out of your way begging me to give you special attention over the comms and to listen, acknowledge and reply to whatever inane musings you have instead of, you know, actually doing my job, which is leading the operation. I promptly shut this down each time ICly as well considering it's a serious disturbance to my workflow when playing command which I do not tolerate.

I've ran out of creative ways to tell you "Please shut up and get off the comms and do your job, I don't want to listen to your life story on the command channel.", therefore in the heat of moment I just blurted that out and continued to perform overwatch.

The rest of the report is frankly bogus and personally I'm saddened to see that a player feels that a command player taking a specific approach to relaying, delegating and organizing command is a rulebreak.

    That is all.

Firstly, I would have left this to a simple ahelp but I was asked to make a report instead. My involvement in this situation is nill aside from what I've stated in the screenshots. However...

You're joking, right? 'Special attention'? For what? Off-hand comments that probably aren't even directed at you in any way? You're well within your rights to be super cereal 100% of the time, but someone saying something that isn't even directed at any of your listed characters, of which I've had zero interactions with up until that round, isn't clamoring for 'special attention'. Are you for real? "Life story"? How can someone beg you for special attention if they don't even know who you are?

All that aside, Forest's main point in asking me to make this report was due to what he viewed as a rushed drop at 12:15 without even the slightest pretention of RP and quite frankly from what I've seen he's probably right.

Okay, now I'm even more confused. Why wasn't I PMed directly about this then as I've in the past? With Forest in particular I've always resolved things that way amicably with him PMing me to cut this or that out and with some brief explanation why and we'd agree on it. I had made a mistake and it would get straightened out. So what's different now that I weren't pmed DIRECTLY about this? Also is this a server rule violation report or a whitelist issue report?

And again, I'll repeat myself. Whenever I had interacted with you in the past several days it was always "Command this" "Command that" "Please pay attention to me". If those were offhand comments not directed at me at all then please explain to me why did you always address me by my job title in those specific instances. And I'll stress this again, this is all from a completely IC standpoint as I've had no clue who you are oocly until you've made this report.

Lastly to reiterate on that point as well, I find the no rp accusation baseless as well. I do not sustain the allegation that my predrop actions were nonRP. I was completely alone in the CIC, there was quite literally nothing for me to do except the absolute necessities to get the operation started (DEFCON assets, LZ selection, briefing announcement and orders announcement). After doing that I headed to req to help the lone RO deal with the roundstart requisitions rush, for it is expected and encouraged of command staff to perform this in case of manpower issues, and because I did not want to idle around in an empty CIC and be useless.

I would also like to open a discussion on how exactly holding a briefing - where exactly the same thing happens every round (marines throwing items at the person doing the briefing, attempting to remove their clothes while they're speaking on the megaphone, asking female characters to suck their toes, ask the CO if they're a femboy, asking the CO to step on them, yell obscenities, wave around, threaten with and shoot guns at random etc. etc.) - anything at all except a cesspit of obscenely extreme low roleplay which is nothing but a net negative on the collective playerbase's experience of the round, but I've already digressed too much.

I will cease responding to this, unless needed, and await clarification(s) and resolution(s) of whatever this report is even supposed to be.

To clear things up, I asked a report be filed as we have recently had many cases of very early deployments and a general rush to end the round. While I could have resolved this to some extent in-game, I felt it was more appropriate to defer to management to decide what should be done as this is not an issue specific to you, but a widespread recurring thing.

The provided screenshots are good enough evidence for me, and I am currently conferring the issue with CO Council/Management about rushed deployments with no briefing, etc... etc...

As far as the generic orders he issued, I don't take an issue with that because if he was the only one in CIC, I get trying to juggle those jobs around..

I do have issues with a XO referring to marines as spergs in annoucements, and an obvious meme calling someone a roleplayer, so in the end 50rem you as a former mod should know better than that. I've decided to issue you a warning for that, however I can't fault you for the rushed deployment, so I will update the thread once a decision is made after I discuss it with various parties for a OVERALL ruling.

We've instituted a new marine law SOP that says a Captain or Acting Commander must do an actual briefing in the briefing room, or you may hold a SL/SO only briefing while the marines get attachments and other requisition stuff.

If 50remandcounting didn't act like a bit of a memer with his RP, the ruling would have been the same.
50rem is only being warned for the minor transgressions in his roleplay, however he is not being punished for his actions as XO. Instead we're going to go the ruling route and have modified the SOP in regards to the "Rushed" deployment.

Whoeever is in charge of the operation has to do an actual briefing now.
