    I don’t think it is. As RNGPriest says, the entire Xeno siege capability hinges on having boilers who know what they’re doing. Outside of surprise flanks, but you can only really do surprise flanks during lowpop.

    Which means that most sisters of the hive, especially T1s who can’t evo while the Queen is working on the FOB, are standing around with their ovipositor in their hand waiting to get gibbed by CAS, OB or mortars. Because Sentries are everywhere and just melt anything that gets near the cades and isn’t a T3 even while the gas clouds are up.

    Sure, the outcome is relatively open (on account of bald boilers or successfully/failed marine flanks), but it still isn’t really all that engaging for most of the hive.

    +1 to the power grid suggestions. I think power should be something more than a defcon objective/minor convenience and should be something that is a real priority. Eg. Requiring some sort of power to run deployables such as sentries, with round start seeing engineers hauling portable generators from Almayer down to the FOB and later ditching them once the map's main power grid is online. Would also give xenos an objective to fuck with the power once it's up.

    With the current state of CM, defending FOB is hard enough, let alone multiple points. Every game for the most part flows one of two ways.

    1. Marines land
    2. Marines establish fob
    3. a.Some fucking runners do some annoying bullshit in fob taking up time and killing some engies
    b. A lurker gank squad walks around the marine back line picking off groups of 2-3
    4. Marines try to push into caves
    5. Marines get pushed back.
    6. Marines get chased back to fob hemorrhaging people.
    7. Half built fob tries to defend while CAS & Mortar are useless because Pylons can be apparently built wherever the fuck they want to be.
    8. OB gets fired, either hitting nothing, a minimal amount of xenos, or all of the marines.
    9. Retreat to ship.

    It's a god damn dance at this point. The only exception is when on step 4, the xenos actually push out, someone manages to call a good CAS/MORTAR/OB and wipe out the fucking ravs/boiler/queen and then it becomes a cave push to chase after and wipe out the xenos.

    But now with walls effectively being WORSE BARRICADES, because every t3 and their fucking mother can slash through it, we don't have the metal, as per normal, to reinforce LITERALLY THE ENTIRE GOD DAMN PLANET. Because that's the only real way to gain any ground, is to cade it off, or magically manage to get kills on T3 deathballs.

    The changes to walls means that every engineer who isn't cading walls is making a fob doomed to fail, when ravs slash through walls super quick. On BR there's barely time to respond to a sec tunnel flank when the rav has solo broken the wall there nigh instantly.

    Even as a synth, it takes too long to fully deconstruct a wall to be worth it. The only time this changes is if the round goes on long enough to be bored at fob and that doesn't really happen anymore.

    Like the other guy said below. It takes way too long to deconstruct walls. you'd need every engie in the game to be deconstructing walls to switch out walls for cades. And even then, all xenos have to do is wait for engies to deconstruct the walls half way, slash it a few times, and BAMN, 0 metal. Not that they've every done it.

    Now, if you could convert floor tiles into metal, that woud be far better and give prison station the cade buff it deserves

    You can, but you need to put it into an auto lath, unless they removed that ability. Same with shotgun ammo boxes, magazines, and many other misc metallic items. TL: DR REQ needs to do it. And then print out metal sheets. Not to mention have fun picking up 1000000 tiles for like 100 metal.
