Lighting is a very important thing in CM, it induces a sense of fear in on station roles and marines who have no access to light, via being disarmed or otherwise, makes hive seem dark and dangerous, and there are much better options to reduce lag such as reducing the amount of items being loaded and reducing the load from useless roundstart dead mobs.

Not want to discourage benomains here, but nobody is afraid of the dark in CM and light is the main powerhouse of lag, because it shifts all the time, while dead corpses just lie, don't process nothing and such.

While correct that few if any are is afraid of the dark who's experienced with the overall game it's also correct that darkness has large impact on balance with it increasing the level of risk for advancing quickly as flaring is often isn't fast enough to keep up with the advance and makes it so it's not a scope shit fest of ever marine using S8 because most of the time they can't effectively use their full magnification due to the darkness.

If we want to remove darkness and I can understand given how unplayable the lag can becomes specially on maps like SOROs we will want understand and replace the balance that darkness offers as bound to run into trouble if we over look it.

you might think darkness doesnt have that much of an impact on balance but I do remember a while back in an attempt to fix the clicking darkness shooting bottom left bug devs gave a bit of light to dark tiles, moon light or whatever, marines stomped xenos so bad devs scraped that idea immediately

How they scrapped it since its still in the game? Check LV for example, you can clearly see in darkness when you are on the unweeded beach.

If your screen's brightness is high enough, you can see surprisingly well in the dark. (Do not do this for multiple rounds, it hurts after a while.)

my point is there was a bit too much light at first, u could barely see xenos move and they were stomped, what do u think will happen if they remove the darkness completely
