    What unique ability should sniper spec have?

    The title ...

    I mean ...


    Pyro has fire-shield

    Scout has a FUCKING CLOAK

    Sadar is ... the RPG

    Grenadier is virtually immune to explosions and has an auto-grenade launcher.

    ... sniper

    ...

    Sniper just has a gun.




    I feel like sniper should have like a 'snipe' ability that either goes through or completely destroys armor that has like a 30-40 second cooldown.



    I dunno, what do you guys think?

    I think it should have a prone ability where he can become cloaked, just like the scout spec and have 100% accuracy with the bipod deployed. Permanent cloak? Maybe. But the prone should be permanent until the player chooses to stand up. Also, while on prone, the sniper won't be able to shoot past cades for obvious reasons.

    I think it should be A gun ability like:


    Triple Tap: Click DIRECTLY on a xeno and the xeno gets a loud WAAAAAAAAA!!! audio warning with a LARGE sniper reticle on them that's a BRIGHT contrast like white or yellow, or red.
    If the xeno is still visible after 2 seconds, fire 3 shots at them with double bullet speed.

    Snipe: Click DIRECTLY on a xeno and the xeno gets a loud WAAAAAAAAA!!! audio warning with a LARGE sniper reticle on them that's a BRIGHT contrast like white or yellow, or red.
    If the xeno is still visible after 1.5 seconds, fire a shot that negates armor and does 150 damage.

    IFF, the GL does too but well it weaksauce to an actual gun.

    The sniper already has what he needs to be useful. He deals high damage, at long range, and his gun has IFF so he doesn't have to worry about dumbasses blocking his shots.

    Sniper doesn't need something "unique", which you can argue it already has considering it has 3 ammo types, and AoE capability at 4x scope distance.

    If anything, he should have ability to shoot at anything in his line of sight to harass boilers behind 10 resin membranes, or windows that can't be destroyed. No stinky damage gimmicks if it is just that, or massive damage buff if it would give a warning to a target.

    How about giving Sniper Specalistis the ability to penertate clear resin walls with 22% damage reduction per clear barriers and 33% damage reduction per non clear resin walls with regular rounds that can be renamed Armor Pierecing. It should be balanced well enough without further performance reductions given how faster snipers run out of ammunition and how cost infficient it is to resonably supply a sniper specilaist currently. Another idea to is the ability to penetrate regular walls and reinforced walls with regular providing 44% damage reduction per wall and reinforced 88% damage reduction per wall.

    Further idea of balance is the IFF doesn't work after it penetrates as the IFF calculations are only for the surface of the wall allowing the sniper if caress to penetrate a wall and FF marines.

    Make Sniper bullets pierce through structures and xenos with no damage fall off and buff the normal mag damage

    Snipers should have the ability to shoot aliens at long range without risking being bodyblocked by other marines.
