    FrogZeke - Synthetic Application

    Synthetic Whitelist Application
    Personal InformationByond ID?
    FrogZeke

    Marine Name
    Rebecca Sterling

    Other Whitelist Applications
    I have not applied for any whitelist positions.

    Character InformationName of the Synth Character you wish to play
    Day

    What is your Synths quirk and personality?
    Day models were advertised and marketed as a multiple purpose synthetics, specialized in youth education, but capable of acting in medical and civil engineering. The true purpose of the model was the brainchild of USCM PSYOPs. The mission was observing the civilian population for any signs of secession or sympathy towards the CLF or UPP. Through education and community support, the model's mission is to build and maintain loyalty to the USMC. It regularly reports the status of the colony for HC to determine if troops need to be mobilized, with the hopes of ending insurrection, before the colony can establish connections with the UPP or CLF. Shipside, it turned out that using a synth that smiles when marines eat crayons, teaches them how to make paper hats, and enjoy reading children's books aloud, worked well.

    * Outwardly kind, nurturing, and supportive, like a kindergarten teacher
    * Encouraging, ‘You deserve a gold star!’ for good effort and job performance
    * Refers to individuals by school names, IE Principal and Vice Principal, children in low stress situations (To save on players having to highlight)
    * Quick to report sedition, though will attempt to talk marines down

    Why do you want to be a synthetic/why should we whitelist you?
    Support is the best part of the game. Medic exhausts you, but saving a marine with 600+ burn is a high. Engineers can smile when their section of a FOB holds 40 straight minutes of xeno charges and the spitters start aiming for you instead of the cades. Pulling a living larva out of an IO as they convulse on your operating table as a doctor is one of the most awesome moments of all of CM (Seriously! Happened only once, but it was AMAZING). So why Synth? Because you guys do all of it, and I know some of you wish you could be everywhere to help. You are some of the most knowledgeable players that keep marines able to play, what is there not to look up to?

    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...it?usp=sharing

    ExperienceHow familiar are you with Engineering?
    I have played squad engineer, MT, OT and CE (more recently), the speed of xeno wall destruction and being able to build window frames has definitely forced me to tweak some building methods

    * FOB construction, siege situations
    * Construction, deconstruct walls and airlocks
    * Loading and chambering OB
    * OT chemical synthesizing and ordnance creation
    * Repairing reactors and SMES
    * Setting up camera Networks
    * T-COMS setup and T-COMS repair during Delta
    * Vehicle Repair
    * Loading weapons and ammo on CAS

    How familiar are you with Command?
    I have played dozens of rounds as SO, acted as aXO (SOP violation), but mostly shipside with a few deployed times, mostly to fill in as medic+.

    * Understating the importance of communication, and listening to all channels (highlight!)
    * Using the overwatch (OB excluded due to synth programming)
    * Tracking IOs, and their importance for defcon
    * Checking manifests for departments lacking personal, and filling in
    * Managing big personalities as coworkers and superiors
    * Launching crates to valid coordinates
    * Acting as RO
    * Squad reassignment, and access modification
    * Working chem more
    * Releasing defcon funds
    * Using tacmaps and linking in announcements

    How familiar are you with Medical?
    I consider myself a medic main. I have worked as a doctor regularly, both shipside, FOB and frontline.

    * All surgeries, with or without the aid of advanced scanners
    * Chemistry for custom medication, unga juice, purges, and cryo setup (50-50 clone-cryo)
    * Know autodoc usage
    * Dialysis and stasis bag usage for ODs
    * All things medic
    * FOB and frontline doctor deployment for field surgeries
    * Research and botany

    How familiar are you with Requisitions?
    I have worked solo as CT, filled in as RO as SO, and been RO a couple of rounds. REQ is the make or break department, it is the first department to check if it needs help.

    * Working REQ line
    * Preparing drops, setting launch pad, and launching supplies
    * Filling ammo boxes in squad preps
    * Monitoring all channels for supply deficiencies
    * Recording all supply coordinates, leaving the note and pen near E pad
    * Communicating supply launches to all squads
    * Tracking which squad has which spec for ease of resupply (though they still won't supply you forward coordinates)
    * Managing budgets
    * Preparing for the last stand during Delta alert
    * Welding vents, defending or running and calling for help when attacked (people don’t check on REQ)

    What are some scenarios that you can perform combat in? Give us a brief example.
    Acting in self defense for one's own self-preservation when escape is not an option, be it non-lethal in the case of Almayer personnel, or lethal when a xeno that has trapped you in a corner or preventing the recovery of a revivable marine. The most important is to deter interference, not trying to secure kills.

    Delta Alerts allows for more open combat freedom, but as melee only, one should not invite more friendly fire by crossing in the lines of fire. I would continue to focus on support (coms and medical) as primary while as long as a fighting force remains.

    If choosing to defend command during mutiny, non-lethal methods of combat are allowed.

    ConfirmationsAre you familiar with the Synthetic Programming and Guidelines?
    Yes

    Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or the Synthetic Programming Guideline?
    Yes

    Do you understand that you cannot advertise your application on any platform for votes. Do you also understand you may not edit this application 1 hour after it has been posted?
    Yes

    Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason? Do you have any active jobbans?
    No

    Are you currently banned from our Discord, and if so, why?
    No

    Other InformationDo you have anything else you would like to include about your application?
    I have also done transport PO, to include fulton operation (silent POs are terrible) and evacuation.

    In addition, I have also acted as IO escort on several occasions, sorted intel, read intel, decrypted disks, updated consoles, and communicated objective updates. I feel it is important to mention, because IO/escort get into combat situations where deterring the enemy or running is the best course of action. A dead IO is highly detrimental to the marines, and I know that applies to synths as well.

    Thank you all, whether I am approved or denied. In the case of the latter, please tell me how I may improve, so I can try again next month.

    Hi, I can vouch on Rebecca Sterling's (or more accurately, the player whom plays them) ability with being a medic, being competent and communicative over comms, and their ability to manage requisitions.

    I do think that they are capable of being a synth.

    Fairly standard app, I think what's looked at a lot is the "What are some scenarios that you can perform combat in?" and I think you can elaborate on these more.

    Besides that, I think you're a competent player and I see you primarily coordinating as an SO. Very fun to play with and it's great to have someone attentive, communicative, and competent, which are all required to be a synth. There's no point in having skills if you can't work as a team, as with being a synth, your #1 goal will always be support.

    Anywho, I must sleep and I really skimmed over this. I don't want to jump to a +support because idk if I missed some fatal error, but I can vouch for the aforementioned things and I'm certainly leaning on a support.
    Good luck!!

    I can vouch for the applicant's knowledge in medical and engineering, command too. I'm sure you'll do a fine synth, but I got a question.

    You're on the frontlines, clearing weeds and a lurker pounces you. What do you do and why?

    The point I brought up about IOs, and their escorts, is true, if there's one contact, there's probably more in that direction. As IO/escort, you fight them off, but as a way to open a gap to run away and survive for the sake of the mission. Map knowledge, as well as awareness that xenos try to chase towards more xenos, is very helpful.

    As a synthetic, the heart is the same. Synths run, or fight to run.

    A runner and lurker tries to pin me into a dead end at the south side on t-coms (Wall intact) on Big Red. Virology labs is the closest exit (possible hive start), it's around the south side of LZ2. Yes, I would hit a runner or lurker. Hopefully, they are wounded enough that I can escape. If the runner was crit, and the lurker was dragging, I would take the opportunity to retreat rather than secure the kill. Every second I remain isolated, is another second for xeno reinforcements to arrive.

    On delta alert, combat restrictions are off. As much as I understand that, there are almost always marines to heal and revive, or positions to fortify. Still, I like getting coms up right after crash (And with the current state of CEs and OTS, sadly rare). T-coms is the first place the runners go. It is really easy to get pinned in there. I would go through as many xenos as it took to get out, or if the crush was in upper and lower engineering, dig in and stall with shocked or welded doors, if I kill one okay, talk on coms, deconstruct a wall to get out. I'm also mindful that if the xenos keep dying around t-coms, more will come. Rejoining the main body of marines or holding coms would be fine with me, xeno corpses optional.

    Two weeks ago, Benedict was cornered by a marine, and shot 18 times with a M41 pulse rifle (pre-first drop). I believe he attempted disarm, and run, though a flash may have been used as well. What I definitely know is that he used coms, which is the reason I knew to come. I think Benedict was absolutely in the right. Ungas are going to unga. Griefers are going to grief. If I wanted to spend my time busting marines for broken windows (no matter how much I hated repairing them as MT), I would play an MP. I think if a synth is doing arrests (on the extremely rare case that the synth is deputized or ordered to make an arrest), synths can use flashes, disarms, and cuffs on USCM personnel, and talking is an option. Trying to do harm to marines is against programming. UPP and CLF are another matter, I'd use lethal if I was trapped, but a flashed or tripped human is very easy to step over (I'm not sure of the cooldown on flash, but have used it as CE on a colonist in maintenance). Colonists are a bit of a gray area, but colonists are the mission originally, their trauma allows for mental instability, even though they cannot be hostile anymore. Those people can be talked to. And even a bullet or two isn't a reason to harm a survivor to me.

    I'm a delta medic main, so front line is very broad definition, there's a dotted blue line from the LZ to the 'front' if the SL isn't good.

    If you mean, front line with marines, a pounce is a short stun. Get up, move back towards the marines, and bait another pounce, if I can. The lurker is going to get smart and back off, or the marines will make it a dead lurker. Welding fuel and wires are cheap. I do it all the time as medic (pills are cheap too), I imagine the synths have just as large a target on their back. Standing there is just going to get you FFed, and advancing to chase is wrong.

    If there aren't marines around, like I was clearing a potential flank, that is a bit different. Avoid being trapped, dodge and run towards the gunfire (always be aware of which direction the gunfire is). Even if I retreated back to where the medics were reviving, medics still shoot. If the lurker backs off, put some cades on that flank. I know I always appreciate them. Inform command about the lurker's position, because all squads tend to leave their medics behind, maybe alpha or charlie is available.

    When I started playing CM, I've always seen Rebecca Sterling around as that trusty MT / CE, I've also remembered that she was the one who taught me how to make a camera assembly way back in December 2019 or January 2020 (I think you even got a medal for that FOB camera setup if I'm not wrong), so I have always known her as one of the rare few engineering mains that are still around for a long time.

    Today I've also watched Rebecca run the medbay by themselves as a doctor during low pop before the first combat drop and it's clear that they are very proficient as a doctor / medic / chemistry. In addition to the good medical answer, I've also personally seen them running around as a medic for the past few months and they clearly knows their stuff.

    So I'm vouching for their engineering and medical competencies here.

    I have also seen them as a few times as SO too and they are pretty good at relaying info needed when I'm playing in a squad. I also vaguely remember seeing them a couple of times as RO / CT, but your answers for Requisitions show clearly that you have a good understanding and experience in the role too.

    The icing on the cake of their competencies is the strong and slightly humorous quirk and personality. I like how you were consulting many people via Discord #whitelist-app-help from synthetics and other players on the role and were receptive to their feedback into your quirk and story. I am honoured and happy that you were also receptive to the feedback I gave over DMs. Personally, I still think the backstory could be simpler, but I like that it does tie back well into why your synth behaves as described in the quirk and personality. In addition, Rebecca is approachable and friendly in most of my encounters so I know you can play this quirk very well. The kind of vocabulary that Day will use as a synth is also very clear and your story shows very clearly how you will play as synth.

    Lastly, I know you love the Alien and Aliens lore and universe too! Big hypothetical gold star and this giga

    +1

    In summary, you are a very good support player. Day's quirk and personality seems fun and I look forward to seeing her run around supporting the marines

    Good thinking, you should NEVER perform self defense on the frontlines(saying from experience), let the marines do that for you. Running away is the answer in these situations. I am sure you understood the guidelines and can follow them at all times, take my +1.
