New CO restrictions are absolute bull

So now CO's have been restricted to only being able to play as one character, and are also restricted from deploying groundside unless very specific critera are met. This has destroyed an entire playstyle of CO's, who for the most part do a better job leading the operation and communicating than most CIC CO's whose SOLE ABILITY is that to communicate. The reasons given for this change? None at all, staff just posted some cringe memes about this "not being a democracy" (as if that was ever in question) and then made the announcement. Thoughts?

I liked your alternate chars as CO

Also being grounside as CO even though frequently memed as being just PFC+ is actually useful I think

    What are the criteria?

Why do people who played less than 10 rounds as command overall keep saying deployed co is a pfc+. If anything a properly geared CO is essentially a combat synth with the best possible order buffs.

co deployment isnt a pfc+ at all. having direct ground information without having to stare through helmet-cams or go off comms and a tac-map can make coordination a lot smoother. command can get first-hand information on the ground and keep the marines in line more efficiently.

having an XO, CO, and 4 SOs all in the CIC is completely un-necessary imo. if you have an XO worth their salt who you can trust to manage anything shipside related than itd be a hell of a lot more useful for you to deploy as CO instead of butting heads and overlapping jobs with the XO.

The CO should only be deploying as a last ditch effort to turn the tides in a battle, and for way too long they got away with 1st or 2nd drop deployments. It makes no sense to possibly sacrifice the most important individual your side has in a first or even second assault. While yes, CIC can be crowded, it would make more sense to send an SO or the XO down ground side while the CO maintains order and operation on the ship.

Lately there have been too many CO's who treat the role as a Specialist ground side with the added benefit that CIC MUST under penalty of marine law, Obey every word they shout into the headset. (Which can lead to some hilariously bad OB's, or game changing counter attacks, granted.) They're also often focused by aliens, which leads to marines having to retrieve them or the operation losings its highest commanding officer often very early on in the round.

Because CO has funny stun mateba and can use SG and mk221 freely so they think he's just there to get frags (even when he's using tablet)

And you know how salty xenos get about the shotgun, so salt over the mk221 can frequently rival a league of legends match

Havent been as many cookie cut PFC+ COs but still leading with the metaba does lead to some PFC+ feeling by command and marines at times.

Anyway, RPers (the more annoying you must RP teatime with CIC shit rather just you know people who RP) want to make the role more RP focused rather then unga bunga in the front. Does it make sense? Does anything in the Alien lore make sense? Shit no, it a late 70s-80s horror film and Aliens is gunho america kicks ass, blast the commies, walk away from cool explosions, and plenty of cheesy one liners. The dam lore doesnt care about RP. It cares about the rule of cool.

Anyway, COs cant deploy becuase all the cool COs were deploying and all the High RPers are pissed or something. For the only one name? It was rarely seen even and just seems like an unncessary restriction. Ugh, just open the slot with something like 40.80 hr on XO timelock rather then busting everyone's chops.

Except no CO's have been deploying just to PFC+, CO's who deploy have been communicating better and using more tactics than most CIC CO's, because we've been held to a way HIGHER STANDARD. a CIC CO can literally just fuck off from the operation and RP with MP's all round and its cool, but you dont see their playstyle being removed because of it. CO's who deploy bring mechanical advantages to the marine side, can carry out more extravagant strategies and flanks and actually assess the frontline themselves for when a OB is needed. I guarantee CIC fired OB's kill alot more than OB's called down directly by a deployed CO.

If CIC wasn't completely useless to have the CO stay in, I am sure more people would stay there. The issue is that you have basically 0 reasons mechanically or roleplay-wise to stay in CIC.

The captain gets great armor, a great skillset (You really are more or less a synth with a gun) and great armor. You also are able to keep yourself informed FAR easier by deploying, as you don't have to go through the SLs and SOs telling you a bunch of nonsense, you just can see for yourself what is going on. I have pretty much no reason to play captain if I am just gonna sit in CIC and pretend that anything CIC does is useful.

Controlling fire support as captain is literally one of the most important things you can do, too. Instant lazes means you can blow shit up really easily.

Thank fuck I got banned from the Discord again otherwise I'd be bitching nonstop about how retarded these changes are.
