This is a very interesting synth character in my opinion. Synths are all designed to some extent to fit among other people but this is one that is made to fit along marines specifically, which may result in the synth appearing a bit too human but what I get from the story is that when it comes to serious/formal mathers he's like a whole other character, cold and clearly without real emotions.
I feel like this can make for some really interesting interactions, most marines probably expect a synth to act in a way that makes it somewhat obvious they're not human and the first impression a marine in-game could get from Duke is that he's casual, laid back, and humanlike. But once something formal/serious is brought up they see him switch to his serious side and they'll be like 'oh damn, I guess he really is just a robot after all' I think it makes Duke unique and interesting, I'd really like to see him in-game.
