TL;DR I mercy killed CL while still in my custody post hijack. And I didn't follow SOP when brigging marines. Link to previous appeals for the same ban (if applicable): -
Your appeal, including evidence (screenshots, etc) So this has been a long time coming I think. First I'll explain my IC approach to the CL one. They got charged for theft, they stole all the money from marine ATMs, (I don't even know how) as well as them being less than reasonable in brig and attacking people. I had no concept of code delta simply letting them go, but I did perceive them to be dangerous enough for them to be escorted out in an evac pod, with me as their escort. They had roughly 6 mins and a bit left once hijack dropped in, and we were waiting in their office while they were still cuffed and arrested, waiting for evac to be called. Evac was never called. I think DS crashed into CIC and command didn't have the tablet I think, so it was a wasted venture. Eventually if you were timing the brig time, it was over and they would be meant to be free'd. (Doubly free'd because of delta code) But radios were down and I didn't manually have a timer OOCly to keep track of it. My bad. As well as me losing track of the time I made it worse by harm battoning them a little bit when they were attempting to escape my grab and trying to get out of the cuffs and the battery was drained. Eventually xenos broke in, and I was still grabbing ahold of the cuffed CL, standing next to the door to the escape pod. Rav slashing me and my final act was killing the CL with my shotgun so they wouldn't ICly suffer the pain of being slashed to death like I did, but a quick shot instead.
That entire scenario obviously could've just not happened if I released them due to code delta. As well as harm battonning them is a no no, and killing a prisoner, (that is also illegally detained at that point) adds icing on the cake. Next time I'll just let them walk. And 'mercy killing' prisoners when they will die to a more 'painful' death isn't something I'd do in the future. Griefing and killing the CL wasn't my intent. But I fully understand the reasoning here.
Other note a bit before that was me not stripping 2 brigged deltards when I put them on the bed. I'd say this is mostly comes from me being new at the time, combined with IRL issues that made me AFK so I had to put them in the cells very quick and attend to things. Then when I came back a full squad of marines were breaking into brig, 2+ SGs shooting down the walls to get their comrades jailbreaked and said brigged marines using their shotguns to shoot the glass of their celldoor to escape. Combine all that with me being the only MP against 2 people and me being stressed was obviously going to turn out like that.
Only thing I can say about that note is I am better at the game now, and I'd have a better chance getting the marines fully secured. As well as paying attention to SOP more. I can't do much about the AFK issues that compounded the problems. I try to ahelp in general and ask on discord on rules and how to follow them, and after 6 months from the ban I think I'm adequately versed on marine law, SOP and rules. I obviously have my shortcomings on it and I argue with staff about it sometimes, but I try.
My mutiny notes could also be included to my MP ban so I might as well talk about them. I was bald and didn't know how mutiny's really worked. But now I know for example MPs cannot mutiny and must protect the command structure, as well as I have to ahelp for me to mutiny. Plus shit like that should be ahelped if I am a bit iffy on something, just to be safe.
