    The server population was regularly in the hundreds before his video. And even by his own admission, he told his viewers not to tide servers because Byond can't reliably handle so many players.
    But still they swarmed the game anyway.

    So basically there is 2 possibilities here:

    1) He did bring a tide adding many new player - which ss13 should be thankful for for bringing in new fresh blood with many to stay for longer.

    2) He did not bring any reasonable amount of tide or they came from the 30 other big name youtubers who revived ss13 as I personally came from Mandaloregaming not him.

    In either case I'm quite surprised about the guy complaining about them. Like even how dare you saying anyting bad about other people who want to play. Who are YOU (anybody really) to tell a new player to go away. You own the server or something? It's a public server you (and I) are a nobody. Who cares how long you are playing. The new guy from 1 week ago might add more fun to more players than you ever did in 2 years.

    I don't even understand comments like this. SS13 would be an empty wasteland with 2 people playing if not these videos promoting them. Is that what you want? As surely people WILL stop playing it but if we get no new people trying it out it will be deserted like many MMOs or online games before.

    Jesus get off your high horse and let people have fun as WE allowed YOU to have fun. Who cares how long you are playing. /facepalm

    The problem with new SS13 players is more often than not their first (And only) experience is CM and not standard SS13, you can pin point the problem from there

    If you're not trying to find a reason to murder the clown, blow up he station engine, or poison everyone with Plasma you're doing it wrong.

    Also as far as players go here with standards/rules/etc..., it breeded a sense of entitledment to the point I wanted to reject almost 99 percent of staff reports with "Stop being a baby and fuck off"

    just make changes for low pop. high pop is fine and balanced just have something that nerfs the xenos or buffs the marines on low pop

    Xenos seem to overall be too tanky, especially T3s. The game seems to be viewed through too much of a TDM lens by the development team as opposed to a semi-strategic shooter game.

    - Maturity was always a necessary concept because it was needed to stop xenos from immediately rushing marines, since young T3s were literal glass cannons. Indeed, the first version of this had big flaws (elders and ancients were too powerful), but the latter iteration in which elder and ancient powers were respectively gutted did its job. It also served a dual purpose of keeping xenos at bay while they were young, and making it actually seem like killing them had an impact.

    - Xeno tankiness leads them to take risks that... don't actually result in them being punished. The amount of effort required for a punishing a single T2 to the point of death is ridicolous. I shouldn't even have to comment here about how stupidly good regen is now and the hilarious overabundance of healing on the xeno side.

    - Xenos can snowball too easily. Too many castes have access to wide-area AoEs that can fuck over large groups of marines at once. Similiarly, T3s like Ravagers being as tanky as they are means that they can kill too many marines per push - numbers that marines can't actually replete. And the more they kill, the higher that number becomes.

    - Singular marines seem extremely, extremely weak. Single marines can no longer actually pose an effective challenge to a xeno player of acceptable skill - PB buckshot has been nerfed into what I can frankly say is the proverbial ground while M41As seem to have been left to rot as a weapon that you strictly use to make xenos fall back. BC M41s + AP are the only way a marine is doing actually noticeable damage with a rifle.

    - These issues combined lead to a rapid deterioration of round times. If xenos have no incentive to stay at bay and marine firepower is derived solely from specialists then round times go into the gutter. Especially when FOBs have also been substantially nerfed (why are walls so easy to take down now??).

    - Round times being too short means that significant RP can't take place and the game progresses into a memefest. Obviously, moderation staff can't keep dealing with the issue at that point since player culture is too engrained. The round times being so short is also clearly unintentional - the majority of CM's fun gameplay simply does not happen if the rounds are this short. Shipside roles, CAS/OB/FOBs are not things you can reasonably enjoy in the span of THIRTY minutes.

    I don't know what exactly happened to warrant the current status of Xenos but my guess is a) feature-creep and b) over-focusing on the achievements of single marines, leading to disproportionate xeno buffs and marine nerfs. Ravagers being this tanky can't be intentional. Nor do I think anybody in the dev team thinks that these round lengths are acceptable.
