    Just add one obvious change. Like the old days the surge larva ONLY appear if the queen is on Ovi

    That way the marines can kill her, or drive her off it to stop the larva.

    And queens can have the option of playing supportively (on ovi giving reinforcements) if its a siege. Or just disregard it and go nuts combatting when it doesnt matter.

    And then the spawnpool manipulation sillyiness wont even matter

    Now that spawn pool dying actually stops hive surge I think it massively improves end game content. No more 20 minutes of 60 mairnes held up in briefing, now xenos actually have something to defend and marines have a proper reason to push. I just played a round where the DS crashed into upper engie and it was awesome, by the end there were bodies all around upper engie and when xenos did win and went to attack only a small group of cade huggers were left at medbay.

    I'm sure in the long run the marine meta will adapt to instantly push the hive as soon as it crashes, but that just makes things more interesting.
